So many layers of cymbals/toms. Awesome. Sound engineer deserves a raise, everything sounds fantastic
From a non-drummer perspective it REALLY helps when you can hear/see everything this well. I get absolutely lost in these videos and the most I can play is my steering wheel.

7:28 Keeping a steady 3-eightnote beat on the right hand and then switching it to a 4-eightnote beat all while keeping that djenty pattern going with the kick and cymbals underneath... It's one of the coolest things he does. Gives the riff a completely different feel.
It's beautiful and holy hell how good you have to be to play like that w such smooth flow and that limp independence.... it's one thing w kick and both hands, but always w that hat at the same time. Wild.
Seriously this album is the best of every single member of the band. Top notch drumming by Jay, the tapping in this song, the slap pattern of the bass in Burden and the awesome vocal delivery of Dan in every single song is just nuts. They have surpassed all my expectations
The double kick starting at 2:20 gives me goosebumps every single time ..

For real! This is the most complex stuff for drumming in Tesseract. I've heard similar things in his Heights work but not in Tesseract! I'm happy to see how it's being incorporated and uncorked!

Been following this band for almost a decade… this is everything I could’ve ever asked for TesseracT does not disappoint!
Same for me! Was lucky enough to get to meet them at a bar after a show in Oslo some years back! I have always been in awe of Jay, this here really shows his ability and feel around the kit, absolutely love the playthrough and song!

@@jjcdrummeranyone who compares Jay to Danny is a fool, they are completely different styles of drummers, and both elite in their style of drumming. It is well understood Jay pushes Progressive Metal while Danny has a huge Jazz Fusion and World Music flavour to his approach to his more Progressive Rock approach, leading to very different polyrhythmic approaches; though, Jay is a much more polymetric drum player. If anyone reading this likes both approaches, I can't recommend enough carefully listening to Matt Gartska on Parrhesia by Animals as Leaders!

A cymbal set up of the gods. They compliment each other so well. No weird overtones that bleed into other cymbals. You can clearly hear the difference with each hit.

Jay, Baard Kolstad and Sleep Tokens' II are the best drummers of modern music (my opinion) 💪 Each of them stands out in their own, unique way.

Jay's drumming and composition is like a tender rib eye straight from the butcher - beautiful, succulent, ethereal...
My 2 favorite guys in the game are Jay and Mike Malyan because of stuff like this. Love the similarities between the 2 of them how they are both so groove oriented and the facial expressions they both make, you can appreciate how much they enjoy their craft. This is some of Jay's best work though. Can't wait to hear the rest of the album

Mike was the most amazing choice to fill in for Jay temporarily! I have the utmost resect for @mikemalyan (one of my favs) but the Jay & Mike "learning the songs" videos put Jay's licks in a whole new light of appreciation!
