ive done this as well with my old galaxy tab s so now I have a 10.5" Oled CarPlay lol. biggest issue, my tablet can't charge and use the dongle at the same time so I have to charge the tablet every night indoors

The A12 Bionix chip that's in the iPad, iPhone XS/XS MAX is literally the fastest thing out there.It beats out the "incredibly tuned" One Plus 7 Pro and the Samsung S10+ in a lot of benchmarks. Also the 7nm chip (A12 Bionic) is incredible compared to the crap chip some Samsungs come with. The snapdragon Samsung S10's are better. If you are talking about the buzzword features like bigger battery, more ram, and all that stuff. I couldn't care less. All of these phone makers can't optimize android OS for their hardware and it shows. More ram and it's still slower than a phone that has only 4GB of ram? Get outta here son.
@@bderkhan2925 that's it, The A12 is great because Apple needs it to be. Other than that, the batteries on iphones are mediocre, ram is just enough for an iPhone. While budget phones are coming with 4 cameras, Apple this year will come with 3. On top of that, this year iPhone will have biggest notch as competitors have moved to punch hole or pop-up camera. Don't get me wrong, apple's processor are best but other than that their stuff is good enough only even though they can provide better.
@@bderkhan2925 all these phones are fast enough for what they do... The cool thing on android is that you can choose which specific hardware features you need. Most people don't need the power of a A12 bionic, but maybe they need a headphone jack and don't like notched displays.

Is there a way to buy a cable for the CarPlay dongle that will connect to that and the tablet but allow you to charge the tablet when in use, I plan on doing this for my car but I don't want to be removing the tablet all the time just to charge it...
First, pull out the old car stereo using a trim tool and unplug the wires. Then, open your tablet carefully and disconnect the battery so it won't rely on it anymore. Next, get a 12V to 5V converter to lower the car's power to what the tablet needs. Solder the positive wire from the converter to the tablet's charging input where the battery was connected. Connect the negative wire to any metal part of the car for grounding. Connect the converter to the car's fuse box or the ACC wire so the tablet turns on when the car does. Now, mount the tablet in the spot where the old stereo was using a dash kit or a custom mount. Hook up the sound by using an AUX cable or Bluetooth to the car's speakers. Make sure the tablet is set to auto-turn on when it gets power. For Apple CarPlay, connect your phone to the tablet via USB or Bluetooth to access those features. That’s it; your tablet is now your car's stereo!
Also, since the tablet will be getting power from the car instead of relying on a battery, it can stay in your car 24/7. You can use the tablet's charger port for the CarPlay dongle, which provides a good alternative for trying to use the charging port for two things at the same time, allowing you to keep it connected without having to remove it. This will turn your tablet into your car stereo!

Hi. Many thanks for this… which I have replicated in my car, using iPhone and an Amazon Fire tablet. My question is, how can I inject USB power into this link? All works fine, with both devices fully charged. I’m assuming some type of USB splitter that would allow power and data to be supplied in parallel ? many thanks in advance.

Please check before installing, you can upload the APK to virustotal.com and it will scan it instantly. I discovered this because I downloaded the APK and backed it up on my Google Drive and then Google told me it had a virus, and so I looked into it further.
Seems like a big security issue since your phone connects to this, the question is will this have to potential to steal data from your phone? If you look at the details tab on virustotal.com, it mentions an IP URL that the app uploads log files to.
The most recent non infected version is 2020.02.24.0930.
So if you want to install it, then please install this version.

@@Chemy. when home tech arrived in our homes we were amazed, but innovation slowed down and automation is normal. nobody thinks twice about people talking to their kitchen. now concerns are faced towards microphones and sensors that are on 24/7 to make this technology possible. is your information being sold? is the manufacturer trustworthy, but your device hackable? these are loose ends in todays age for someone like me to deal with. (a loose end is a problem that hasnt been taken care of, and may hurt you later on)

I was SO hoping this would work. The glaring problem with this solution is that the tablet cannot be charged while connected to the carplay dongle. I'd like to be proven wrong though! If anyone knows of ANY tablet that supports charging while connected to a dongle (via a USB Y adapter for example), please share if you have direct experience.

Ok here is the update thus far - Wireless Carplay Dongle + OTG CABLE + Nexus 7 Rooted/Unlocked/ElementelNX 5.16 Kernel = WORKING. Obviously you need to have the power going into cigarette input. I've tested thus far and you can charge your Nexus 7, and run Carplay at the same time. You MUST unplug it from nexus, have everything else hooked up - start car/turn on tablet from off - once it's all powered on - open AutoKit, plug in OTG cable to Nexus and voila - charging and OTG. Charging is slow but does go UP. However - AutoKit doesn't love the resolution of the Nexus 7. It will only run reliaby in Compatability mode, which is a little slow, but works 100% everytime. Otherwise you can't "This navigation is not supported error". This is the best case scenario because wired drains phone and tablet. Must just be too much power draw from the phone. I'll post on other pages and maybe do a quick video. Hope this helps.WIRELESS CHARGING WILL NOT WORK SO FAR.

I have a challenge for you! I have a car that is compatible with Apple CarPlay but does not support Android Auto. My phone is Android. How can I trick the Car system to think that it is connecting to CarPlay when in fact I am using Android phone? If you can do the trick, then it will solve all people who owns Porsche cars as they only support CarPlay.
I know it was possible to run on Android because my 2016 Honda Accord runs it and the infotainment unit has Android jellybean
Apple embracing openness? You’re kidding right? This thing if ever made will be so closed off and proprietary that only the biggest Apple fanboys will buy it. It will probably be 2-3 grand, have a iPad mini display, a10-12 chip, and 64gb of storage with an option for 512 and 256 for 500-1000 more. It will only work with Apple products, and you will have to buy some stupid Apple streaming service to even use normal apps. Also nothing will be upgradable or repairable. They will set it up so that it breaks after a couple months because of nonexistent water damage. They will make it so the display ribbon cable cracks so they can claim that you have to buy a new unit instead of replacing the cable.
But hey! It will look beautiful.

IMO the base of all the home devices is the assistant. Take Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa our of Google and Amazon’s home devices and they are just screens and speakers. Apple simply can’t play on the same playground as Google and Amazon because Siri is just so so so bad. It’s years away from Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa and apparently Apple is just fine with Siri’s pathetic existence.
The problem is when I pull onto my tablet I can’t get the screen saver off ..

I have bought the wired version. Followed all the instructions, have the app downloaded. But the app won’t run, when I click the app it goes black for 2 seconds then goes back to the home screen.
I would not recommend these, no way to contact the company either.

This is a product that has no place for existence. Home AI assistants are helpful
because you can activate them from anywhere, with just your voice. HomePad is a worse iPad tethered to an outlet. iPhone in your pocket? Way easier than having one of these.
Imo an Android phone with Apple software would be the worse of both worlds.
I've got an iphone, ipad, macbook pro, homepod...etc... however, I've gone with Nest, google home mini and hub for the home... i've got alexas for music around the house, other than bedroom, which has a homepod... it all over the place atm as they all seem to excel in different markets.. no doubt Apple's "Homepad" will look great, however I've not been sold on the Home software so far, no Siri.

I don't get that line of products. I already use my tablet/phone and a bluetooth speaker in the kitchen and have all those features, like Assistant, looking for recipes, music, video... Why would I need another specific device for that?
The dream is to have ONE device that has all the features, right? The only thing keeping us from that at the moment is the size of the screen. A tablet and a smartphone are literally the same thing except from the size of the screen...
