Back at it working on Travis' stuff from Camel Tow Yard. This Pettibone has been through the ringer and neglected, used and abused. After I am finished it is running like a top... Now just how am I going to fit this project in the shop?
I grew up in the back end of a tool and equipment rental store.
One day you might be repairing an electric drill, next day a lawn mower, then a towable compressor, then a tracked excavator or dozer.
It’s all the same, just bigger or smaller.
Then you start building / fabricating.
Skills come and you become like Merlin, and the world becomes simple.
Ain’t but a thing.
Unfortunately skilled trades are going away.
Soon the world won’t have people like us, be a sad day indeed.
I used to work for company that rented anything and everything pneumatic. I remember tearing down all kinds of tools to replace seals and repaint.

Yep, I had Pasload factory training, we did all the rebuilds for the pneumatic guns and all the nails came to our warehouse and we shipped all over the country.
Also Ingersol Rand factory training to rebuild / service all pneumatics and compressors. Abrasive blasting.
Chipping hammer and jackhammer bits.
Factory training for Bosch electric’s, Milwaukee, Porter Cable, Makita, Stihl, and probably a few I forgot.
All kinds of training on Diamond cutting blades.
Couple of pressure washer brands.
4-5 brands of manlifts. Wisconsin Robin, Honda power. 3-4 brands of forklifts. Case.
Ditch Witch. Bobcat.
Serviced all our pickups, rollbacks, our Peterbuilt.
Never a dull moment, service, repair, power washing. Writing rental contracts, answering phone, deliveries, you did it all.
Loved every minute of it.
If I knew everything Merlin knows I would forget everything I know about motors and vehicles his knowledge is very impressive.
Jetski Jimmy rocks, Chico Jimmy’s truck is awesome. Thanks for shaving & burnout guys.
Merlin thank you for teaching me again, especially about the dangers of using ether in a diesel.
Love how you start and finish a project in the 1 video ... Thank you!
It if fun watching friends working side by side with friends. Big or small Merlin fixes toys of all shapes and sizes!
That was cool! Loved the slammed VW “truck”.
Very nice to have a friend who knows so much and is willing to help you.
I wonder how many interesting vehicles you would have, if had another acre. Enjoy watching your work.
Camel towing. Brilliant name
Merlin you are a talented individual, that talent didn’t come quick or easy, it came at a cost, thanks for sharing
There are aspects of ‘why’ ,we tune in, as folks who know a bit, and willingly, watch thru vague references, to pick up details, of the diesel history, in our world. Thank you..😀
Your wrecker games showing, simply put you, in a special category.
Brains over braun..🙊
Absolutely love yours and Travis’s passion …. It’s stuff that is disappearing 😢. Good f ing job🔧🔧🔧🔧🤣🔧
I really enjoyed this video I am a big fan of videos involving mechanical stuff. I am not a mechanic but I find videos very educational.
Merlin you definitely are one of the best at what you do
You're an absolute legend Merlin. I want to stop by the shop and meet you one day you are bad ass my friend🤘🤘
@MerlinsOldSchoolGarage.. merlin how do I claim this?! Thanks bro
That old international pickup is cool with a 5.9 in it
Merlin, interesting to see the variety of stuff you can work on. I know it's just nuts & bolts but, the wealth of
info you have on different mechanical stuff is impressive. Thanks for sharing!
Merlin and Travis got the Pettibone engine tore down and put new rings in the engine and got er running again! Nice that Travis unloaded Merlin's new project car.
Great way to start the day watching Merlin start old stuff. 🎉
I love the Rabbit pick up
Merlin reminds me of my brother Mike, who can fix anything! Keep up with the awesome content!
Once again MERLIN your DR FRANKENSTEIN bringing the dead back to life, Your knowledge of anything with a engine or a motor plus your fabrication is mind blowing . Along with your history WOW .
Good show old chap!
My brother in law had a VW truck like that. We called it Skippy the wonder truck. We hauled so many oversized loads in it.
Love the sweet little VW Rabbit Caddy! Got one I need to finish. Nice work Travis! 👊👊👊👊👊 Always good to see something get refreshed and put back to work great work Merlin 👊👊👊👊👊
Awesome vid as always Merlin, loved the old international truck so cool , cool patina . And being a v dub fan loved the caddy very cool . Stay safe 🇬🇧👍🇬🇧👍🇬🇧
Another video where we see start to finish. Enjoyed it!
Thanks for sharing your magic Merlin.
An old oil bath air filter might be better than any type of fiber filter in the dusty conditions. Just a thought!
Stay safe healthy and happy 👍
Merlin the magician.
What do you want to use as a Donaldson nano fiber, technology, air filters arguably the best you can get forget KNM and stuff like that. It’s OK for the race track. I’m talking about the KNN but not for doing what some of you guys do when you got an engine you have to start with the ether because the fuel doesn’t get up to the injectors quickly use some WD-40 with that Smurfette put the WD-40 in first but it lubricate the rings and destination all that stuff all right this is six in a row Jim from Kennerdell, Pennsylvania❤❤🎉
Looks Great Merlin. Another Great job 👍
This is the fun stuff! First motor I rebuilt, I was nervous that I was going to screw something up. A mechanic friend I knew named Dan told me a phrase I'll never forget. "It's just nuts and bolts" now I can tackle anything, because it's not as daunting, it's just nuts and bolts!
Keep up the good work love watching you on UA-cam
Merlin! Gradall is located in my hometown of New Philadelphia Ohio
diggin the IH cummins truck, now ive got to do a havasu taco stop
Totally captivated by your knowledge and wrench skills. Cummins forever! 😎

Great video!! You always have some interesting side projects or friends cool old vehicles in addition to your main feature. Never a dull moment!! Thanks Merlin!!
That is awesome. It's great watching everything you do. Can't wait to see the mini semi with the trailer all done.
I have little experience with Diesel but I like to watch you work with them.
The shop equipment is always the last to get any attention. Good job you guys.👍
Nicely done ! 💪👍🏼
My uncle had a international farm tractor every time we had to use it we had to bleed the fuel injection for it to start, great video keep up the good work God bless from GA
I noticed that church bell ding dong got in the way of an important message. LOL
Merlin & his friend, very talented, competent & experienced mechanics, on engines small & large. His ingenuity & flexibility working on this rig is remarkable. His partner is very competent too. It's all interesting & informative & the video supplements greatly the verbal, re the presentation.
Darn good job, that's what I like about your's and Fab Rats channels plus others. Most things can be fixed or repaired instead of just totally replaced. Yankee ingenuity at its finest.
Awesome nice truck
Merlin you make every project easy and trouble free, you've got great mechanical abilities as well as terific common sense. Thanks for sharing and stay safe 👍

Good day, Merlin. I came across your page with the captions of a mimi truck, and you were looking at a car hauler to purchase. It all peeked my curiosity, so I stayed and watched several of your clips Great content, love your editing and love your trucks. Keep up the great work. Subscribed! From South Texas.

Great videos . The pickup looks so cool. Keep up the good work and stay safe.
I remember crawling into one of those VW trucks on an auction lot back in the day. It was just too cramped! Not enough legroom, and I'm only 6 foot.
All in a days work! Fantastic work on Travis loader…your awesome expertise Merlin! Love Jim’s Taco p-up. 1:26

I really like that 38 International pickup ! 👍 nice in frame rebuild.
Hey Merlin enjoyed this video, how about of do's and don'ts of starting fluid, I have a few million miles on me and use it sparingly but still use it.
Your videos are the only ones that I can watch in its entirety. So interesting. Thank you. Hope you are passing your knowlege on to someone.
that talcum powder sand also gets into every "factory sealed" bearing. I bought a pickup truck in Cape Coral Fla. And believe me, by the time I had driven it back to Michigan I had to stop on the way home and have the front wheel bearings replaced. And after I got home I had to replace every pulley, water pump, alternator, power steering pump, and many other "factory sealed" seals. All because of 1200 to 2000 grit powder sand getting in. White sand from Ft. Meyers beach getting run over as it blew across the roadway into cape coral.
Good to see you Fella’s
Merlin, I wish I knew half the magic that you have forgotten. Much respect. 💫
Your editing is spot on.
Reminds me of the rings that came out of the worn out motor in the 84 VW I got from Greg. Cyl#3 was the worst w/ top ring having what looked like the better part of 1/4in gap. Rings were half the width of the ones in the band-aid ring job that did wonders & brought mpgs up from low 40s to mid 50s is on it's way out since the cylinders are egged & now is back to only the lower 40s again. Soon as funds allow the thing will get proper treatment.
Another great video. And I would love to have that VW pickup…..❤
👍👍..got a 4B in a compactor...seems to start well..the ears on the head exh flanges have all been welded back on..bought it like that 10 years ago...but anyway..thanks for another video 👍👊
