Alan, thanks for reaching out to Merlin, Merlin thanks for saving another vehicle, you are the Jay Leno of antique vehicles. To Alans friends, you all are very impressive and thanks for McKay for the assist!
Merlin, what looks like low power wires along the railroad tracks were probably railroad signal wires. They were used for communications between stations before there was national phone systems and radios on the trains.
Many in today's world would have simply tied the winch to the front of the truck, and drug it onto the trailer. Merlin, this man thanks you not only for rescuing automobile history, but also for allowing the former owner's friends to help load it. That was a wonderful gesture.
That truck is a huge part of Colorado history, I am super stoked to see it being used. Seen similiar trucks similiar signage in photos at a store in Ordway years ago!
I’m amazed at the extra fuel tanks being connected. 100 ish gallons in a dodge is freaking awesome. Merlin- please do a video on designing, installing.
Ever time I see an old vehicle it makes me amazed at the condition some are in. Hope you keep this vehicle in it's old glory. Hate to see this one some cut up instead of reclaiming. What a parade vehicle it would make and the history of it's manufacture. Thank you for sharing this journey. Keep us up to date as you restore the truck. I am almost as old as the truck. Again Thank you.
I love the 'Diamond T' name badge on the hoods. That is a real piece of art in itself. They took pride in that rig when it was new. Can't wait to see what you do with the old girl.
The iconic Diamond ‘T’ has to be one of the most interesting truck designs of all time. Thanks for sharing the road-trip and making all the old guys smile. 😀
That was a great display of how well the Yankum ropes work. Alan should be happy to see that. Nice to see the Diamond T continuing to live on. Looking forward to the build.
Love it Merlin, when the diamond T,gets home, time to wave the magic wand 🪄🪄🪄,and turn that old truck, into a keeper. Its time to do that voo doo you always do. To bring something from a resting state,to running and drive able. Keep up the great work. Love the channel. Always, thank you for bringing us along for the ride.✌️👍😎😁🍀🍀🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲.
This is one of the coolest trucks I've seen in years. This brings me back to my childhood and my grandfather had one of those trucks for his moving company as a toddler I would escape out to the yard and climb in and play in it I spent hours and months inside before I figured out how to get keys and fire it up I was just a little guy under 5 thumping up and down the road with my grandpa and dad riding in the middle and loving life. I have been looking for a long time for his truck I have a door with his company logo from it hanging in my shop it's been in the same spot for 45 Year's. I can't wait to see the videos on this one coming back to life. This is been a great video with some awesome old guys. Keep up the good work.
Thx bud , couldn't sleep , anxiety ... sheesh , so your vids help me brother , thx again . were peas in a pod except your doing it im stalled cause of me wife and stray animals dumped out here , cant afford to feed them but we do are best.
God Bless You for taking on the Care of Unwanted Animals, the Ole’ Lady is the Same way😂. I Feel Your Pain Over the Anxiety, Lord Knows I am Sharing in that Myself Lately for the First Time. I Hope You can Find Peace of Mind I Honestly do.
Quite a run . I think those power poles you saw. Are signal wires for the rail road. This will be a hell of a project. Looking forward to what you are going to do with it.
Listening to you talk while driving about your directions sounds like an old bugs bunny episode... turn left at Albuquerque and a right at flagstaff ..... absolutely love it !!!
Howdy Merlin!!! Another very cool project to watch come to fruition!! Helluva' "turn-around" trip you made!! Lots o'miles!!! Heartwarming to see all those gents who have held onto their friendship (as with you and Makay) all those decades...❤ Safe travels friend ❤❤ Stay FROSTY... Keep your powder dry and your head on a swivel.. 🇺🇸🇺🇸WWG1WGA🇺🇸🇺🇸NCSWIC🇺🇸🇺🇸
Has the winch already pulled out and decides to pull up the truck manually - Merlin never fails to surprise... 😁 But a pretty cool way to utilize a makeshift pulley system. Alan has created with Yankum Ropes an amazing company and developed pretty revolutionary products for offroad recovery... 😎🤟
Fun day Sunday ❤ Robby gave Rory an old tow truck to upgrade and make over, There may be some leftover parts that you may be interested in or they may need some part or input on making it happen, Could be a great collaboration for all maybe, I know they're definitely tossing the engine ❤
I love your channel.. Well, I know you can't love a channel but whatever the next best thing is. These car & truck stories are epic and Hollywood couldn't even come come close to writing these stories. I can't wait to see the "DT" back on the road. As a matter fact, I will contribute to to a fund for Terry's trip cost to go see that truck runnin' down the road in "Lake Havasu" I'm serious! Kudos to you for getting that one back on the road but a BIG kudos to Terry for saving that truck. He has a dream and I hope he gets to see it run. Also, as I've mentioned before, your vids are of the best professional quality so props to you and your crew (wife & daughter) and other camera folks. Keep em rollin'
I'm a retired vet and love watching your show I'm a diesel mechanic and love how u show everyone up with a Cummins holler at me sometime and see go get a project truck
I like Mackay's WINCO t-shirt. Years ago I flew for those guys pulling sock line. Good memories. Looking forward to this build. Keep 'em coming Merlin.
Love the old Diamond T. I 'm a bit older than those young lads helping you load her but the old truck is still older than me. That's the stuff I like. Especially old trucks. It was the mini semi that got me watching. That and Paul.
Just a note, Loveland isn't around Colorado Springs & Pueblo, it's up north of Denver, not too far from Ft Collins. That old truck probably went into Wyoming, Nebraska, & Kansas back in the day. I live in the Midwest, I've been driving a big truck all through the area for over 32 years. I've done that drive across I-40 so many times.
Merlin, saw latest video, can I make a suggestion on changing a flat tire on a trailer with more than one axle.? When you get a flat on the front axle, break the lug nuts first. Then put three short pieces (12-18 inches) stacked as a climbing rack with boards laying flat behind the rear tire. Back the truck,/trailer backwards up and onto the stacked boards. This action of the trailer lifting up the ramp will pick up the front axle do you can change the front axle wheel You do the opposite when the rear tire is flat, you stack the boards in front of first axle tire and drive forward this lifts rear tire off ground. Old time farmer trick. Thx for all the work you do . G
I still pull working knob and tube wiring out of houses I am remodeling. Just pulled off some asbestos heat duct insulation. That stuff was on there for a while!
I start my Sundays with MOSG ! I know Dr Frankenstein will bring this one back to life as always . Love your drive to saved history one vehicle at a time. So awesome you stopped to pick sunflowers for your wife. Thank you best entertainment.
“Coal from Wyoming going to power electric cars…” hahaha…we just don’t seem to learn anything….👍👍…i think i saw a smile on the diamond t’s face in your driveway😀
Out here in western Nebraska by the Colorado border, they still have a few of these lines (wires on short poles from 20-30’s, they still replace the damaged poles here)that still supply country houses
When I was much younger and in the military, I made the drive from LA to Chicago in three days. No cruise control, gps or AC. Stay in Chicago for a few days and return. I did that drive for three years, until I was transferred to a base in IL.
Ah ... the old iron bridge over the Rio Puerco, I've crossed it many many times, there used to be a little cafe on the west side of the river that I always ate at. That was back when I hauled milk from Phoenix to Albuquerque and then deadheadup to either Monte Vista or Alamosa Colorado to pick up potatoes to deliver to the Lays potato chip plant in Casa Grande, Az. That was way before electronic log books and I used to make that triangle 3 times a week.
No stops you're hardcore Merlin . Your kidneys must be made of iron ! I don't know about you but I've gotta have lot's coffee when I travel. Good luck with the Diamond T. Be safe going home.
Thanks to cousin Paul, I landed here. You have one of the best channels I've found on YT. One question from a Pennsylvania guy - does anyone out West have a truck with a windshield that ISN'T cracked? :)
Hey just wanted to say we loved u at the wrecker games and I have been hooked on your videos ever since I even got a Merlin's pull over I love the old rigs u by and fix up I'm a load school girl at heart and we r trying to start r own channel but my whole family watches u and u r one of my favorites keep it up
Great video!! Nothing like a last minute road trip to haul home a new toy!! The ol' Diamond T should be an interesting project. I'll be staying tuned to see how it all works out. 😁
6200 tare on that ol' booger... and a drinking straw driveshaft. With duals to carry the anticipated load. Wow. Can't wait to see what you come up with here! Good job talking the previous owner into letting it go.
Merlin is always my first youtubers of a Sunday.......
F your not first your last
I love this channel because nothing is dragged out over multiple episodes.
They were used for communications between stations before there was national phone systems and radios on the trains.
that guy has some amazing friends there, 67 years and still shows up to help push a vehicle
Maybe it’s just the way the videos are edited but I feel like Merlin is about the most productive UA-camr I’ve seen.
Editing by a professional.. Miss Desiree!💥💫
You can tell he was raised to work hard and I bet he's done it every day of his life.
So great to see a bunch of older guys still hanging out together.Cheers from Australia.
I can't figure out why EVERYONE that watches this video, doesn't give it a LIKE.
Many in today's world would have simply tied the winch to the front of the truck, and drug it onto the trailer. Merlin, this man thanks you not only for rescuing automobile history, but also for allowing the former owner's friends to help load it. That was a wonderful gesture.
Props to Merlin for rigging it up so the Old boys could pull it onto the trailer ... i'll bet they will all be talking about that for ages
680 miles without stopping! No pee breaks? Impressive for sure! You sure are a Mr. Get it done!
Obviously not a coffee drinker.
That truck is a huge part of Colorado history, I am super stoked to see it being used. Seen similiar trucks similiar signage in photos at a store in Ordway years ago!

The iconic Diamond ‘T’ has to be one of the most interesting truck designs of all time.
Thanks for sharing the road-trip and making all the old guys smile. 😀
Good video. I’m 81 yrs old and I remember riding in my dad’s Diamond T in the late 40’s.
Keep up the good work mate.
Bill Sydney Australia.
Always enjoy watching Merlin conjure an old truck back to life. Shaking the mud and rust off the chassis to find its true soul.
For some reason I love those old Diamond Ts, and I'm only 57.
Dang i was looking forward to see the mini semi going down the road.
That was a great display of how well the Yankum ropes work. Alan should be happy to see that. Nice to see the Diamond T continuing to live on. Looking forward to the build.

You know how to keep your beautiful better half happy. Wise man.
That’s exactly what I was going to tell him. I live in the area and that is exactly what they are.

You are so lucky to get a diamond T. Congratulations
I am from Wyoming, and coal trains are very long, as in a mile or more long. Pretty wild how long they are.
“Coal from Wyoming going to power electric cars…” hahaha…we just don’t seem to learn anything….👍👍…i think i saw a smile on the diamond t’s face in your driveway😀
That dodge is a great long journey truck with that extra fuel system

I have really come to enjoy this channel , Thanks Merlin .
Can confirm, that looks like our coal out of powder river. Good thing about coal is it always works.
Now this series is going to be awesome! Love the old trucks!!!
Nice old truck, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
Thanks for the trip.
The DiamondT is way cool Merlin. I look forward to it's transformation.

I see you were back in my hometown Colorado Springs. That was a great find on your last trip through. Glad you got to go pick it up.
No stops you're hardcore Merlin . Your kidneys must be made of iron ! I don't know about you but I've gotta have lot's coffee when I travel. Good luck with the Diamond T. Be safe going home.
That is quite a rare find ! And round trip with no fuel stop ! Thanks for sharing !
Thanks to cousin Paul, I landed here. You have one of the best channels I've found on YT. One question from a Pennsylvania guy - does anyone out West have a truck with a windshield that ISN'T cracked? :)
