Great video!! Ex South African chasing trout in the UK these days, just getting into nymphing properly, found this really useful.

Hello. Just found the channel and awesome stuff!! Would love to try The Gun fly pattern here in Idaho. Not a fly tier yet, so how could I get ahold of some of them? Keep up the great work!! Cheers!!

Couldn’t the San Juan worm be tied with a heavier elongated tungsten bead to improve its sink rate? I have been having much more success with an all metal San Juan worm than with any clothier or rubber kinds.

What vise is that? I really like the net to catch dropped items.

Awesome lineup ! Few flies I would not have thought of. Do you not combine weighted with unweighted flies sometimes ? Iv had good success with tungsten bead on point and something like unweighted PNT pheasant tail hotshot on tag.

      Yes, you're 100% right.
The biggest influencing factors on weight selection are the river's flow rate and where the fish are feeding in the water column.
If the flow is super fast and the fish are holding deep I would go relatively heavy on both flies.
If, on the other hand, the flow is more "manageable" , or you don't really know where the fish are feeding, or they chow everywhere in the water column, your selection of flies are perfect!
I very often use a subtle soft hackle on the tag too. There are so many flies and combinations out there. The best is to experiment and through a lot of time on the water, you'll build up your box with your favorite flies.

In Germany you can order flies from Amazon.co.uk if you want. Alternatively I think Trident Fly Fishing in the US has shipping to Europe
