    Ive owned the 6T for a month now, and I've determined that this phones best feature is it's insane battery life. I literally forgot to charge this thing for almost two days and it *still* didn't die. It's a far cry from every Samsung phone I've owned, and their 6 hour battery life.

    I'm really enjoying my 6T! I upgraded from an S8 becasue the half off trade in at TMobile was too hard to pass up. I was going to wait for the S10 but that's easily going to be almost double the price. Sure it will likely have more features but I'm able to do everything I want with to with the 6T. Only the single speaker really bothers me but like you said it's just an option. I also don't miss wireless charging like I thought I would either. Great review sir!

    • @vihirsumriya4501
      @vihirsumriya4501 5 років тому +10

      Personally it learns your finger the more you use it. And you also get used to placing your finger correctly (muscle memory) the fingerprint scanner rarely fails for me and it's more convenient since it's on the front and mind you it's still faster and s9 and note 9 physical scanners if you look at the whole unlocking process from removing phone to getting to home screen after unlocking it.

    New oneplus owner, and I've had it only for 2.5 weeks and I'm loving it thus far. The only thing I've noticed that's "bad" is the microphone on certain apps like Snapchat, but that's a snapchat issue since it works fine on other apps like IG and the native camera app.
    The battery, performance and stability of the phone is great, and coming from a Nexus 6P I could not be happier.
    features that I miss are headphone jack and stereo speakers but I can give it up for now and hope the oneplus 7 or 8 will have stereospeakers moving forward and go from there

      I prefer the faster OS with regular updaes, no Edge Display, the community, the camera is really good with the Gcam and its no Samsung. I came from 2 years S7 now 6t since release. Samsung never ever.

    Nicely done. I am currently still running a 3T but have been a 1plus user since the original OPO. Used them all, up to my 3T. Love nearly all of them. Still my favorite, at least for now is the 3T. I am very glad you can finally pick one up in an actual store, instead of paying full price up front & waiting a while for it to ship. I have been curious about the 6T's finger reader, good to know it is almost on par with the rest of them.

    Why I've been a OnePlus user since the first model? SPEED, SPEED, SPEED! Nothing beats Oneplus! I turn all animations off and it's lightning fast. It's simple and logical, I just can't find my way around a Samsung or even worse an iphone.

  • @patsmith1129
    @patsmith1129 5 років тому +7

    I upgraded to the 6t from my s8, and I expected it to be better, but never imagined it being this good! As a T-Mobile user who pays monthly and thus can only get phones straight from TMobile, I was very excited to finally get my first non-LG/Samsung phone, and I fell in love! The battery is incredible, almost always lasts me all day (to show how good it is, I used it from 100% all day last week, then didnt charge it when I went to sleep, used it a bit more that morning, charged it for 10 minutes, and then had it last me the rest of that second day.) Software is super responsive and I almost never deal with long-loading apps like I had to with Samsung, the Camera is just about as good as the s8's, so I don't feel shortchanged. I use an aux in my car daily so I thought losing the headphone jack would be horrible, but the dongle is just fine, and other than a few occasions where I wanted to charge it in the car while playing my music, overall very fine. The fingerprint scanner does suck, for me, its about every 2-3/5 times and it causes more stress than anything, but the facial scanner is so quick I almost never even get to touch the scanner before the screen's already unlocked. If I could make any changes, I would swap out the glass back for a matte black metal (or at least have wireless charging,) proper water resistance would be nice, and the one thing I really don't like is the speaker. Its plenty loud and has good sound quality, but the placement is awful. At least on the s8, it was on the right side of the bottom, so holding it sideways while watching a video really didnt matter, but the OnePlus' left-side placement makes me block it all the time.
    Also if you care about branding or brand recognition though this is a bad choice, almost everyone I know still doesn't know what OnePlus is, whereas everyone knew what my Samsung was

    • @leonro
      @leonro 5 років тому

      About the speaker, wouldn't it be ideal to use the phone in landscape the other way around? With the bottom on the left side, I mean. I think all apps that work in landscape let you use them both ways.

    I bought mine as soon as it was available to buy online. If this is a mushy vibration motor, then I haven't felt the top of the line yet. I moved up from an iPhone 6 and it's fantastic. The camera is exactly what I need for day to day stuff. I'm a slow adopter of new tech because of money, so it's amazing to see in person how far tech has come in 4 years. I have my thumb and forefinger registered to unlock. My thumb is faster by far, but even my index finger unlocks at the same speed as my iPhone 6 with only one finger registered. By default, videos don't go into the notch area, which seems a little odd, but it's fine. It's a great phone! I love it!

    Excellent review mr. Fisher! Do you want to know what battery metric I really want tech UA-camrs to start covering? Social media apps. Tell me what happens to your battery when you spend a ton of time in Snapchat. Or Instagram stories. Or Facebook. That's what kills batteries. That's what I'm interested in hearing about; how much these phones can take before finally kicking the bucket. Browsing chrome, watching UA-cam videos, even doing video conferencing calls? That's all a cakewalk, even for phones that don't have huge batteries. I want to start seeing battery tests that actually put them through the wringer.

My understanding is that a phone has to have some Verizon firmware in order to do WiFi calling but I think that's actually bullshit and they just use that as a way of blocking unlocked phones from accessing all features because unlocked iPhones and Pixels work with Verizon WiFi calling but nothing else will. So I think they're able to manually whitelist phones but they're too lazy and consumer-hostile to bother doing it for anything other than iPhones and Pixels.

    Pretty sure I'll be getting one (6/128 base version) for Christmas. My (very old) Samsung Note 3 has just become too squirrelly over the last year and a replacement is needed. Once I get the 6T, and get everything transferred over, I plan on resetting the Note 3 to factory settings, hoping that resolves some of the issues that have arisen. That way, if nothing else, I can try to sell it for a few bucks or just keep it as a small tablet to use with the home WiFi. Either way, I've been following OneOlus since Day One and I'm very excited to finally be getting one of their beautiful products. Can't wait!

  • @VMYeahVN
    @VMYeahVN 5 років тому

    Hey Mr. Mobile, I have a 6T as well and am really loving it. For your issues with the fingerprint sensor, i would recommend (if you haven't tried already) re-entering your fingerprints but do it at the actual angle you your finger is in when you unlock the phone normally while holding it. Don't lay the phone on a table and then enter your fingerprint in that way. Hold the phone how you would if you were using it and enter the fingerprint that way. I've noticed that helps with it's accuracy a lot. I also entered my prints by giving the edges of my print extra attention since 8 times out of 10, your fingerprint is contacting the sensor at some kind of angle and i think that helped a lot for mine too. I've personally been getting that 19 out of 20 accuracy on my 6T scanner that you get on the 6. But it seems hit or miss for people in general in that way with who it does and doesn't work well for.

      @Warframe Enthusiast beware, these are extremely nitpicky. A lot are minor but the biggest issue is imessage and other things like airdrop, all my family and friends use iphones so now i'm out of the loop with everyone i know
      Also all my purchases from the app store and itunes aren't available, which can be mitigated but not with some apps
      3d touch is something i'm suffering without. Yea latest android versions have implemented similar features across apps by holding on screen, but isn't as smooth and doesn't give previews which was my most used among it
      There's also the ability to swipe right to go back on any app/page, whereas on android only 1 app i use has that (telegram). While i can enable gestures to mimic that back feature (or use the back button) it doesn't feel the same and doesn't have the ability to hold between current and previous page/tab, which i used for reading something quickly instead of reloading the whole page (godsend for when my connection is shit)
      Also enabling gestures makes the keyboard way too low, it's impossible to type since i use one hand. Also the keyboard feels finnicky at times like when trying to select words or try to hit the small space between a word and the send button, feels like it has a mind of its own (yes i've also tried many keyboards)
      Google assistant in some ways is far superior to siri, but goddamn it doesn't recognize "disable all alarms" which my heavy sleeping ass uses every day with like 30 alarms. Please tell me there's a way around this or will be implemented in the future
      I'm sure you're sick of this rambling, but yea those are just the bigger misses with me and this device. I have dozens more which are also just as minor and nitpicky but you get my point, the missing "features" are minor to the average eye, but important to every day use for me
      Everything together just made the handling of my 6s feel so much smoother than this, i'll get used to it over time but i'm certainly going to miss all of them

      But even as mr mobile stated, anything that ever so slightly moves will come out blurry

Even their newer 5g phones can't best this things endurance. You can game for 9 hours on a charge and still have enough for an hour drive home using maps.. That shouldn't be possible but it absolutely is on the 6t. I use the tmo variant, 8gb/128gb. Completely agree on the finger sensor. The screen turn on is a hilarious tap finger, doesnt read it, pin pops up for a milli second, face sensor blasts, screen skittish ly does what I wanted. It's awful but turning off pin means people could use/steal it so it deal w it. The fingerprint reader is so cool just doesn't work well at all

    A quick note about the finger print sensor. Yes, it's not great, but there is a way to improve it's accuracy quite a lot. The trick is enrolling the same finger twice or even 3 times if the phone will let you. To do that just click on add a new finger print and try to tap the screen with the areas and patches of the finger that you may have missed when first setting it up. Play a bit with this, have a bit of patience and the rewards are truly worth it. For example my phone now recognises my finger 94% of the time if I'm holding my phone normally and not showing it off to other people at extreme angles. Try it for yourselves!

    Great review as always! Regarding the fingerprint scanner, I think you're pressing down too firmly on the screen for it to recognize your fingers. I have been using my 6T for about a week now and I can say, if I place my finger correctly, which I got used to fairly quickly, it's just as fast and reliable as my Galaxy S9 used to be.
