[ONEPLUS 6T REVIEW PART 1]
"This is a new smartphone. It does most of the things this other phone does. And it costs much less." For five years, this has been the story of OnePlus - but the OnePlus 6T is different. Because it's the first OnePlus to be sold by a US carrier, making it available to a whole swath of new consumers who otherwise wouldn't know the brand exists. And it's the first OnePlus to be whitelisted by Verizon Wireless for use on its LTE network.
It's also, infamously, the first OnePlus to ditch the headphone jack -and if you think that means the company will take a break from its habit of inching up the price by a few bucks every generation, think again. Does the resulting bit of compromise fall to the threshold of "settling," or is the $200 discount from comparably equipped phones enough to preserve OnePlus's old reputation as a "flagship killer?" Find out in part 1 of the OnePlus 6T Review!

I mean seriously about their removal of the headphone jack... Making a poll seeing YES by a large margin to want it, then first saying, it is the right time and then make excuses after excuses why they remove it... Then also btw announcing at that same time that the bullet headsets are now back in stock... 1+1 going on here...
And that is a company that has a quote "Never Settle" but they ask you to do so
One Pus has been settling since the OnePlus 3
There's no excuse smh I have the vivo nex s and it has a headphone jack on the top plus has a bigger battery a 4000mah.
Their new tag line is ALWAYS SETTLE didn't you notice they changed it??
@Nik3 why should I?
@@Conceptcreator i feel like soon if Samsung will get rid of theirs. You just can't stop technology from moving forward. By the time headphone jacks finally become a thing of the past. Audio Companies will focus on making their Bluetooth headset sound just as good if not better than their wired pieces.
The way this dude reviews phones is an absolute pleasure to watch every time!
I agree
You should have spend 6 days with the OnePlus 6T.
60 days maybe?
Should spend* No need for the have.
Great reviews
@@uniqhnd23 should have spent*. That's the only proper way to say it.
@@ArcideMusic Oh yeah forgot about the spend part and saying "Should spend 6 days for the review" is better. Or actually, it seems like there are two ways to interpret this comment.
Mr. Mobile is the only reviewer I’ve seen that actually calculated the battery increase. Everyone says 20-25% when in reality it’s ~ 12%. Haha
Jebaited the thing is, oxygen os is so well optimized, that 400 mah gets 20 percent more
I've been spammed with OP 6t content!
Happy phonetober!
Its because they probably set a time for all the reviewers, that they can now post their reviews on UA-cam now. I forgot the exact word used.
@@Sal12538 embargo
@@medokn99 yup lifting the embargo. Thank you! I had so many trade terms in mind, idk why embargo wasn't clicking
The release date is today, so they get the phones to review a week or so earlier but they are not allowed to post any info about the device until the presentation day
You just gained yourself a subscriber. I watch your reviews from time to time but I now trust you more than any other reviewer. Thanks for comparing the 6t to older model top tier phones and where to buy them. You're amazing, stay that way.
This is the only notch where I actually don't mind it
Still don't know why don't they put it in the bottom chin
You uploaded at the same time as marques but yep, I'm here.
Before some seconds earlier
Oh the fuck watches Michael over Marques???
Dont get me wrong i like Michael too but Marques is just way better
I’ve stopped watching marques. Like mr mobiles quirky style
@@RugerEnthusiast It's your fucking opinion. I prefer Michael.
I save the best for last
Note 9 has a pen and 4000mah battery. No excuses why phones don't have headphone jacks.
And it costs >$999
@@samienr no kidding? I can afford it. Samsung offers plenty of deals that knock off up to $600. You can get an s9 plus that has more value than a OP 6T for the same price as the 6T. Vivo Nex offers more than OP 6T. Headphone jack, all screen display, 4000mah battery, headphone jack, while having an in display fingerprint sensor.
@@samienr Well aslong as it has Headphone jack I would still buy even if it has $999+ pricetag
yes but with all bloatwares you use the Samsung phones (Notes as well) just s few hours a day and it s dying before 20h everyday !!
none of reviewed have tested the battery with real use... only in a studio ... it s simple... I travel a lot... try to use the GPS and Google maps with data maps with external Bluetooth loudspeaker and drive on your bike a few hours and check how long the battery last... it s that easy but reviewers are really not sporty enough.
I don't understand your concern about the price. They didn't change it from the 6. 8GB+128 6 was $579....exactly the same. $549 isn't really an increase...it's a 6GB + 128....for $20 more...the 6 started at 6GB + 64. So no price increase.
ya, every other review is praising them for not increasing the price, guess he didn't really look into it......
There are some people who are okay with 64gb of storage. It would be great if there was an option to choose the cheaper one with lesser storage
Taking away the cheaper storage option is "increasing the price" for the entry point though, is it not?
Some of us are still fine with 64gb.....
@@MichaelGGarry The Oneplus 6 launched at 529 for the 6GB/64GB option and 579 for the 8GB/128GB option. The 6T launches at 549 for the 6GB/128GB. So It's kinda in the middle.
True, but still raising the entry price by "feature creep". I would prefer if they picked a price and tried harder to stick to it rather then keep creeping up each release. They were popular for a reason....
RIP headphone Jack. Hopefully Samsung and LG do not follow suit.
Other than that, pretty decent phone but I've got eyes on the Mate 20s.
Safina Samsung is gonna on the S10. Many sources point to this.
I have my eyes on the mate 20 X too, atleast that phone is splash proof, has huge battery & a headphone jack.
@@kruzerblade4740 like?
@@kruzerblade4740 Still too early.
@@kruzerblade4740 sources have said that since the S8 leaks. I'm not saying it wont happen but it's too early to tell
Seems very good but as a very satisfied OP3 owner, the loss of headphone jack is a deal breaker
My only complaint with the op3 is the battery life.
@@whiteflag1461 Yeah also :/
Samsung is removing it too
@@mouliknanda no they aren't
@@TheSkyline35 yes they are going to remove it with the note 10 next year
Love the video, as all of yours! Quick question, are you going to do another EDC?
Removal of headphone jack in order to add in a really slow fingerprint sensor? Yikes. Instant no-sell for me.
Exactly look at the vivo nex a headphone jack with on screen fingerprint lol.
Vivo is even the sister company to Oneplus.
Fitted a bigger battery, and fractionally slower fingerprint speed doesn't matter all that much, but I see your point.
Everybody is head over heels for in display fingerprint sensors. I really don’t like them. I’d rather have it on the back
"Really slow" you are full of shit lmao
on the OnePlus 6t I do have a question. ok I've asked this of other reviewers and haven't received any feedback yet so I figured I'd ask you. On the fingerprint sensor after you launch a app that has fingerprint authentication, such as Chase Mobile for instance, does the fingerprint sensor appear to authenticate or is it only to unlock the phone and thats it. I hope my question makes sense..
Designed by Oneplus?
More like designed by Oppo.
haha , already settled , lucky its oppo screen , if not they cant even sell in us , probably get their arse sue by apple for their oneplus6 notch
I mean Oppo is one plus.
Oppo , Vivo, ONEPLUS - this is one company. read on the Internet - BBK
@Sherlock Homie Do you find any similarities between the OnePlus 6t and Any new iPhones?
@Sherlock Homie Both Android and Apple is copying each other, wtf are you talking about? It's normal to copy paste some of the design. Edgy much?
Both Android and Apple stole gestures from Palm OS, so both are thief too. (by your logic lmao)
What about the screen resolution? If I'm understanding correctly, will it be playing videos at 1080p?
As an anniversary to your channel, you should compare it to the first phone you reviewed on MrMobile: the ONEPLUS 3. It would be a great callback, and would answer the upgrade question most of us are asking right now!
Brenden Pragasam what question would that be? Should you upgrade from the OP3 to a 6T?
The answer is pretty obvious: yes. Why would you stay using older and older tech? The only reason I’d see someone do that is that they simply don’t need the newer phones. And if you don’t need it, why would you ask if you should upgrade?
In other words:
Do you want to have the newer, faster and clearly better phone? Buy it then. No questions asked.
Do you think you don’t need it and would rather not spend money? Don’t buy it then.
@@radamstep idk... I have a OnePlus 3 and I'm not sure if I should.
Brenden Pragasam If you’re happy with the OP3 and don’t need more, don’t change.
If you’re not happy, and you want the fastest smartphone on the market, with a cool UD fingerprint scanner, buy the 6T.
Really simple my dude
The production of your videos is on top. Can I ask if you create your transition and titles yourself or do you buy them ?
It's a damn shame OnePlus didn't make it to major us carriers sooner, the value these phones bring is unreal.
TechDove t-mobile and version support is pretty major
It's US government that banned Chinese phones.
0:10 You mean Pixel 3, right?
Lol I was wondering the same
To be honest I was against one plus because it's usually bump the price each iteration of their phones. But after watching all the reviews and seeing the price I realized it's really worth it when you compare it other flagships of other brands. You get a lot for your money and we as a customers will only benefit from it
i despise phone stickers, but actually got a kick out of your sponsor plug 👍
www.samuraitechx.com/2018/10/oneplus-6t-is-officially-launched-with.html?m=1
How much better are the speakers on the G7 or S9? I like or can deal with everything on this phone, but that would be a big deal for me. I still like to play sound from my phone. How was the One Plus 6S sound assuming the 6T has the same set up? Thanks!
Big let down is no ip68 no jack no wireless charging some will say Bluetooth headphones gets the job done but I think still a wired headphones with dedicated dac is better anyday.
@EMANeleVenElevEn except you forgot to charge them
EMANeleVenElevEn
exactly
@EMANeleVenElevEn the headphone jack isn't obsolete when you get better sound quality via analogue than blue tooth 🤦🏻♂️😂
@EMANeleVenElevEn Obsolete my ass, I still use them.
@Antonio Zamudio It is unbelievable how uneducated you people are that say the headphone jack is antequated or obsolete. You know headphone jacks are just a plug right ? You know the jack itself does NOT do anything but connect two devices together ? You know your "modern" (lol) bluetooth headphones still use a DAC because after receiving the signal digitally, they still have to convert it to analogue so they can output to speakers ? (You know how speakers work i hope).
1. I wanna know how well that fingerprint scanner works before I upgrade from my 5t.
2. Is the T-Mobile model different than the one one the website?; does it have pre-installed bloatware?
Now that you've mentioned it, the s9 sounds more compelling that the 6t
Galaxys have a few premium features but are ruined by Samsung's software. OnePlus' OxygenOS is light-years ahead of TouchWiz.
@@TylerN945 honestly after seeing a friend of my using the s9, the software is not all that bad (at least to me) . Yeah the 6t is faster but the s9 is no slouch and coupled with the extra hardware features, it makes it a tough decision
@@KamalAikal i agree
@@TylerN945 i love oneplus software and the speed but Samsung experience (touchwiz) is also quite good and smooth
Or why not even the older OP 6. Which is still a great phone
please cover the speakers!
and, is the phone exchange thing only for US carriers or even unlocked phones?
Can't watch any other review after this one..... This guy is good keep it up 👍🏽
He is authentic skeptic and funny. Never get bored during his videos. Even I, as a millennial with a short attention span.
Of all the 6T videos available. I most definitely had to watch your first Michael! LLAP my dude!
MrMobile had his finger on the mouse to publish the video for two hours waiting for the OnePlus launch event stream to end. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
So true
There's something we call scheduled post though. If you didnt know
The time of upload can be set earlier
How is the vibration motor? Speakerphone quality?
Software review for oneplus 6t and comparison gestures with other phones or implementation.
I'd love to see that video! Also I wonder, how do payments and other features use the fingerprint scanner while the screen is on? I'm curious ^^
Under $600 roundup style of video might be cool! You mentioned the S9 and G7 coming in at that price so it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on what's currently 'the best' at that price point!
Man, Mr mobile you're as fast as oneplus 6t 😂 keep awesome job delivering great content 😊
but.. but it isn't fast lol snapdragon 845 isn't fast at all!
2 other Tech reviewers have One Plus 6t videos out as well. But this is the most informative one
Will be waiting for the camera samples...I was just waiting for your and Zack's video to be uploaded.
Never Settle.. Headphone jack removed 😕
Settled for copying 😂😂😂
Now Settle, you heard it from me first. "Now Settle"
Does it have stock android? How long is it eligible for updates?
No Headphone Jack.... NO THANK YOU!
Breakdown Entertainment its only a matter of a couple of years before its obsolete on mobile devices, thank apple for that.
@@Helloooooo Apple clearly did it for monitary gain
@Antonio Zamudio people like me who are really into music need it..
@Antonio Zamudio wrong. Analog is still better than wireless
P4boot there's nothing stopping you from using your headphones with a dongle.
That little I scratched it already skit though planned was hilarious 😂😂😂😂. Probably the first ever bleeped word you can remember on MrMobile love it 😂😂😂😂
LOL waited for the event to finish and just hit public
While I appreciate all the reviews covering the price, camera and quality, I'd love to know your opinion about Oneplus or all phonebrands (besides google and apple) reliability in terms of updates, security updates and trust with your data overall. Which company do you trust the most besides going with the Pixel?
didn't even visit the official channel
cuz mr mobile's video far more interesting 😁
It comes with pre-installed tempered glass? Or just screen protector?
Get the oneplus 6, its less money and you get more for it. I was going to go to the launch event today but opted to sit comfortably in front of my heater and watch the live stream...glad I did, it was underwhelming.
The chinese guy speaking English on livestream really hurts my brain. It's hard to understand.
Rest in peace to all of the WAIT FOR THE ONEPLUS 6T comments. I'm probably gonna keep my OnePlus 6 for 2-3 years unless it break
@@jorgeshss Good point. I recommend getting both then. :-)
Hey mr mobile, first of all I love your videos! But how did you manage to get your Google search bar widget to have rond borders?
To be honest, I've been avoiding news about the 6T. I wanted to wait for your video! But right around 0:35, my heart sank.
Even for the best iteration of front facing fingerprint readers, I would much rather have the headphone jack. How would you say this compares to the G7? It's currently sitting at the same price.
As for a video, how about a midrange mobile comparison video now that the year is coming to a close?
I own the OnePlus 6 and I used the headphones jack twice.. I have Bluetooth Sony headphones and meizu wireless earbuds Bluetooth is the way to go.
Awesome review as always! It was great seeing you at the launch event and the pop up! Keep up the good work 👍🏾
We need MI Mix 3!!!
I'd like a comparison video of the Google Pixel 3 and the One Plus 6T. I think these two phones have quite some similarities, and I need a new phone soon but can't really say which one I should go for. I need your help on this, MrMobile! (most important things for me on a phone is performance, well functioning android software and a neat design that really looks different from competition. I'd like to have wireless charging as well, but I could drop that if the price is right. Camera is an important point, but for me it's just important that I can take decent photos, living with a phone for the last year which camera was broken ever since. So also a short, comparing review between the cameras on the One Plus and the Google Pixel would be nice!)
just came from the Live stream....
Hey, a question.
T-Mobile US does the offer of 300$ when you trade in. I would like to trade in my one plus 2. But I live in Europe (Netherlands to be exact). Do you think this offer will come to Europe ass wel?
Sad the notification LED is gone
I missed when phones had that. I'd take it and the menu button back so that my thumb doesn't have to stretch to reach the on-screen app menus.
It was normally too bright for me honestly. I had to turn it way down in settings via custom roms... I like having the ambient display not getting in the way of off screen gestures. The stock software is pretty damn good here.
How's the heptic motors in this phone? Any noticable difference from it's predessor ?
Please review, Mimix 3😂😂😂. I seriously want to hear your opinion.
3200 mAh battery ?
maybe you should wait for HONOR magic 2
@@PaleBlueDot-bi9pm
Considering the price and the difference in battery capacity (i.e 200 mah) it doesn't matter a lot.
Plus it includes wireless charger in the box
Also it has a Ceramic back which I like a lot. (I'm saying this after using mix for 1 and a half years)
Yeah and I hope that its successor I guess the mix 3s will have a better battery than 3200 .
How's the sound and call quality?
I'm going to stick with my OnePlus 6 red.
I have a S8 Plus so I think the switch is justified. I really like the smaller notch compared to the 6. But I would agree it probably isn't worth a switch from the 6 to the 6T.
Tbh I'd rather slightly bigger notch with the headphone jack than a smaller notch without. You're missing out on a bit of extra battery but doesn't really matter because of the dash charging.
The OP6 Red, assuming they never bring back the headphone jack, may go down as the nicest OnePlus phone of all time. I don't have the red, but I am jealous of my wife's every day.
I had the 3T originally. That was probably the best phone experience I've had. Don't plan on going back to Samsung. The bloatware is too much for me. I can't stand notches though. So the 6 would have bugged me. I'd honestly rather have a phone with a full screen then having a selfie camera at all. So the 6T does seem like the best notch I've seen thus far. Phones in several years won't even have one. It's impressive to see Chinese companies starting to innovate.
how about doing an IN-depth review, like every feature/animation/differences to stock android? Because as you said, its mostly the OP6 with new hardware changesm, that way a review focussing on the software aspect would be pretty helpful.
fingerprint on the side or back is underrated
Nah only the side since back fingerprint were too common.
Sony once upon a time had it on the side. I guess Ill keep my X compact for longer.
i totally agree with mrMobile about the pricing. hard to consider op6t when you can get those mentioned phones for even less on swappa
No headphone jack, no buy.
Is it compatible on Sprint Network???
NO HEADPHONE JACK NO SALE. When will they get it? Don't THEY want better sales?
Does it have always on display?
I miss when OnePlus phones weren't quite flagships, at mid range prices rather than flagships at not quite flagship prices.
AFlagship price in 2018 is 900bucks or more I dont like the trend either
Rarely do I see ytubers remembering LG. Glad to see someone mentioning the rest of the competition. Prices drop and people rarely notice or mention in their videos. Great quality video as always. You deserve many more followers and recognition, I hope you get both really soon.
4:00
First of all: Why.
Second of all:
Why.
2:15 .. what is that unidentified cloudy object above that building tho?
Is the type c port @ usb 3.0 or 3.1 speed already? Or is it still 2.0? Shame if it's still the same
Essential phone still rocks the best notch unlike this girly one here. There are more interesting phones around the corner like mi mix 3 although I have a feeling they will price it really height here in uk like everything else. Ppl should just stop buying silly priced phones.... but than again most of them are idiots with a short vision not realizing they are f..ing up things up for everyone else by falling into this price trap. Soon you will need a mortgage for a phone... a bloody phone!
Is it an internal battery?
Poco phone f1 rocks
I had to send my poco phone f1 back. I would not download my amazon apps and I needed
them bad.
Is it on sprint?
Let's boycott any phone that removes the 3.5 millimeter headphone jack. The only way they'll understand is if you hit them in their pocket even though it's a great phone
I bought one
This a great funny entertaining review! Great job :), just found your channel and I am happy that I did. Unfortunately I don't use any phones that do not have stylus ;). I would love to see more competition for Note 9 meanwhile enjoying my beast. Yes, lack of water resistances would be other issue and the speakers. I am very curious about the customisation. I am happy that there are so many phones to choose from but why not more with stylus?
Where did you say I can get Note9 or the V30 for a good price? I would really appreciate the help b/c I absolutely need a water resistant phone. Thank you in advance.
I just found out B&H prices: N9 = 1000; V30 = 680
Has the vibration feedback better than the oneplus 6 or is it the same
I have an OP5 that I've enjoyed since release day. Incredible speeds and still isn't bogged down one bit in spite of heavy use. Was looking to upgrade soonish but the headphone jack is an unequivocal dealbreaker. Hopefully it'll come back for the 7 or 7T.
headphone jack is never coming back
3.5mm is dead on flagship smartphones, and will be dead on all smartphones within the next 5 years or so. It sucks, but thems are just the breaks. The future of high quality/low-latency wired audio for mainstream consumer devices is all USB-C (whether native or w/ a dongle), with everything else being wireless.
which recomended for daily use pocophone f1 versus one6??
Hello there,
I am currently using a Galaxy S7 and I was thinking about an upgrade.
I am really into the Oneplus 6 even the 6T, which are cheaper than, for example the S9 Plus.
But, wouldn't I give up too much if were to choose the Oneplus phone over the S9 plus?
By saying this, I am reffering mostly to the camera and screen.
What would you recommend for a good upgrade to my current phone between these aformentioned options?
Does it still have Audio Tuner (equalizer) built into the software?
My question is do you think the models sold at TMobile will be locked to Tmo's Network or unlocked? If they're unlocked I have a 1+3 I'd love to trade in for that $300 discount!
The review should be a revisit some time later. Like it used to be during pocketnow times. Like a re review of how it's holding up against competition then and how has the software 'matured'. What kind of updates have gone into the phone to make the user experience and the battery life better or worse? Carl Pei said there wouldn't be a T version unless they had something radically new to offer, how groundbreaking is the new offering? Is it really or just marketing gimmicks?
Just some food for thought.
Like the work you do!
Cheers!
I just want to know if they is any 📷 improvement? Marquees stated it's purely software based. Is that true?
Perfect timing! Just heard about Tmobiles deal and came to look up a review. Thanks!
Can you confirm whether or not this will work on band 14 for AT&T?
Did they improved loudspeakers?
Does it work on Google Fi?
how cool would it be to have 2 6t variants, one with in-screen fingerprint sensor and the other in the back of the phone?
one thing i like about the fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone is when you grab your device from your pocket, you can simultaneously pull out your phone and unlocking with your finger on the sensor and by the time you bring your phone up to your face it is already unlocked.
which color mode are you rocking? I'm a sRGB kind of guy myself
I actually really love that notch shape, it's smooth and subtle 💧 also love the simulated surprise 😂
Does this phone have expandable storage?
I think you have a good point about price, plus removal of the headphone jack, and the problems with the in-screen fingerprint scanner 1. being slower than the six but 2. not always recognising your print. LG G7 looking good right about now then
Dear mr. Mobile
Could you possibly do a scoring system at the end of your videos almost like dxomark so we see how each phone Stacks up and if it would be the Best Buy for a particular person it's just a suggestion but I think that it would make the reviews easier to comprehend and get the grand idea of
Was that a pixel 3 xl or a pixel 2 ?
Does it work with at&t
Are the radios and reception from all these phonetoberfest releases roughly equivalent? I suppose they aren't changing much, but TMobile has 600mhz spectrum rolling out and I'm curious if any difference in how all these phones perform
Bro me and my brother own both the 6 n the 6t but my phone when compared to his side by side the white displayed on my phone has a yellow tint compared to the 6t and when I put the srgb n dcpi 3 mode the whites look horrible compared to the 6t almost to the point where it feels like mine has the night mode on.Is it the same for you?please let me know cause if it is should I get my 6 replaced??I have asked mkbhd as well cause I wanna know if it's just my phone or is it wide spread display issue with the 6
If you're going to make another video about the OnePlus 6t, I'd recommend a value comparison lineup between similar phones in the $450-$600 bracket, including the older phones like the S9 you can get for cheaper now.
Does this phone work with Fi?
How much and when can I buy this
