Kirk is spot on at the beginning of this video, where he mentions sound quality should not be a reason to hate on it, as most first albums are a fraction of the quality in sound of what ST. Anger is. As for the lack of guitar solos, I'm all against the rules anyway, an I only really like solo's if they are unique, like the 2 solo's from Master Of Puppet's etc, but when people put them in as a necessity, then most of the time solo's are just solo's (where no thought has been put into them), to give you a better example take a look at Music Video's, once they meant something, now their just video's (just another way to promote a song). P.S. I personally don't care whether the video has anything to do with the lyrics (90% of the time it doesn't), but if the video looks good (good visuals) then I don't give a shit (example being Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, has fuck all to do with the song, but a very good visually stimulating experience).

But the drums will always be a distraction. FYI, RTL is my favorite album.
