I have been looking for a chill, well balanced MMORPG that I can train skills in for a decade, and I think this game is finally going to be that. I will do combat, but I think my heart is in skilling.
I'll try a bit of everything. I'll see how far I can progress at first with a balanced approach, showcasing combat and skilling, then a bit later I plan to create a couple more accounts to try the different classes and go down skilling / combat routes. Might even do some challenge content if viable! Want a race to level 99? I feel like you'd win with your dedication :P
I really want this game to succeed. Andrew Gower seems like a such a good guy, I saw the 15 year anniversary video of Runescape and you can tell he's such a great guy who just wants to make a good game that people enjoy. Love the Gower brothers and the magic they brought us, hoping it happens again 😭
@AzureRabbit11 best comment on here, fucked up runescape then sold hes shares and bounced with hes millions. These games always start off great then they get ruined. People enjoyed the wilderness and pvp because of the chaos, and everything was centered in that spot. Then they started adding pvp worlds, bounty hunter etc single zone bosses. They came out on osrs with a post stating they seperated the pvpers, and iam like this is a mult- million dollar company, do they just hire random people off the street. Anyone could have seen that would kill pvp with their changes. i agree no one is gonna play a rs3 copy no thx, there gonna stick to osrs, andrew should have been loyal to the fans who helped launch runescape classics, NO THX. He could have opened up rsc for everyone gave 5 f2p worlds and 8 p2p worlds and a updated bot detection system and a hd plugin option for rs classics. Sadly this is what happened when your game becomes to popular and the owners/developers become millionares they stop caring about the game. He ruined runescape then bounced with hes millions, i understand thou its a bussines. No thx ill stay on osrs, wish they had a runescape classics version like oldschool runescape. Remember andrew purposely killed runescape classics on purpose to force players into playing rs2, by hiding rs classics links at the bottom of the page, then closing the game off to only members and removing f2p. Then they hid all runescape classics advertisements all the way on the bottom of the main page. They tried some bullhsait two week opening thing, but you had to be members. Which is stupid because players don't see stability and won't even bother playing, by saying two weeks you tell players the game will be popular for 2-4 weeks then die as new players cannot join. All they needed to do was just reopen rsc classics f2p and p2p version. I bet you if they had and advertised for it rsc would literally have 25-35k people playing it today at peak times.
Spot on about MTX in games nowadays. I mean, look at that $90 WoW mount that came out recently. I was absolutely baffled to see just how many people were ok with this and would chalk it up to "Blizzard being Blizzard." Shouldn't be acceptable by any means. Sub & expansions are the absolute limit imo, everything else is taking the mick. Also, we're one week away until release. I can't wait. Your vids have helped me a lot in regards to obtaining information and just haivng some Brighter Shores content to watch. Hope you will keep making more content even after the game is out!
not everybody okay with this, when original Wotlk released wow had 17 million subscribers with only ONE version btw, there was no classic no retail no seasons and NO SHOP then halfway through the Wotlk Activision bought the Blizzard and bringed 20$ pets and mounts on ingame shop. yeah we had legendary Ashbringer in lore but we get the MTXbringer Activision instead. people bought those things because they thought that money would actually help the development of the game and they'll get more quality and ingame support from the company. you know what happens after that? the subscriber numbers got lower and lower with every expansion they bring, because when a company makes more money from their ingame shop cosmetics then they'll throw quality of their actual game out of the window. because then the video game will become a platform to sell you cosmetics. Why would they care about a game that needs huge amount of money investment and at least 2-3 years to make if a skin or mount they made within 2-3 weeks by interns bringing them more money... up until wotlk in EU servers when i opened a ticket to the support i've waited maximum 12 hours and that happened only 1 time so it was rare, the ticket times usually 5-6 hours for me, 17 million sub and 12 hours wait time for your ticket is just awesome management for me and my problems always solved pretty well. after Wotlk the wait times increased and increased and increased to the point on Legion(which is my last expansion btw) that i've waited 5 days for a single basic problem. my problem was this " i got a dupe from a blacksmith crafting recipe, it was a bug and i asked them if i should delete the item or can i sell it on the AH" thats it. i didn't want my account banned from a bug. and i've waited 5 days for an automated answer that didn't help me btw. make money from cosmetics then all those money goes to Bobby's yachts and 17th Ferrari... people realized this thing long ago, from 17 million sub of one version of the game to drop 1 million+ sub across 3-4 versions of the different expansions... yeah what a glorious company, their new games are so bad that people just saying hey we'll play your 20 years old games instead of new ones 🙄 the last time i've seen a wow streamer in a raid in retail version the guy was playing the game with 112 addons, i'm not even kidding, 112 ADDONS wtf man, an addon literally warning you with an A.I voice 5 seconds earlier for boss attacks so you can run away or do the tactics, the addon literally telling you "RUN AWAY" or "GROUP UP" or "GO TO GREEN ZONE" etc so why not make an addon that plays the game for you at this point? where is the skill in this? how is this not considering a cheating program and allowed by this company? this is not Quartz's cast bar addon or a minimap design changer addon, this is literal cheating... imagine you need an A.I to tell you what boss will be doing after 5-10 seconds to finish the boss fight. and when i said this to that streamer he replied to me Blizzard designing the raid fights around that addon, are you kidding me dude? remaining wow players definitely deserves 90$ skins btw, in fact i hope Blizzard removes all the regular mounts from the ingame vendors and put them on their shops so these dumbos have to pay $$$ for mounts in the future.
@@Bluepenguin28 any high-end pve mmo that can push encounter design to it's theoretical ceiling will have these cases where third-party support / addons will be vastly preferred by a majority of the people who do it regularly. destiny 2, ffxiv, wow, eso, lost ark (bible logging), and OSRS raids, bossing (tile-marking, boss timers), RS3 high-enrage bosses all offer those tools to get players to perform better or at least get people on board better and faster. after all, the fun is in performing the content and if raid reminders on screen help with that then they're here to stay for majority of people. Blizzard very strictly is able to draw a line as to what addons can access. there is a very clear distinction on what is cheating according to Blizzard whereas FFXIV addons are now much more egregious of being able to display mechanics far, far ahead of what's on screen. if things are you say where addons play the game for you, then everyone would be an Ultimate FFXIV Raider and an RWF WoW Mythic Raider. LFR, Heroic, Extremes, Savage, Classic Heroic+ and Retail Mythic+ would be made redundant in these games yet they are here to stay and they exist for a reason, because a very real skill curve exists and there is nuance to PvE difficulty. boss reminders are no different from a boss throwing out a vocal / text quip to telegraph a mechanic, a raid leader performing callouts and a player taking down personal notes and timings for cooldowns and mechanics.
When it comes to Blizzard MTX you also need to understand that Blizzard basically has its own virtual economy. For example, I bought that mount and it cost me nothing, because I bought it using in game gold that I made myself.
Same here, literally take my $$ let's go.. so ready for a fresh game that is not a corporate $$ grab.. I expect this will be the opposite of New World launch...

Thank you for your continued coverage of this game. I'm a veteran Runescape player and I'm super excited to see what Brighter Shores has to offer. Curious, will there be highscores on release? Is this something they plan on releasing in the full version? thanks again.
Can tell you really care about this. It's nice to see someone passionate about something to this degree. Really hope Andrew does it again, would be nice to have a second golden age within the MMORPG genre.

I remember seeing my first glimmery pile someone left in the spider hut between lumbridge and draynor village.. Did i pick up every single thing and wear a bronze med, brass necklace, leather gloves, iron legs with pride??? heck yes i did. I am ready for Brighter Shores.

The subscription fee is the only reason i dont play Runescape period. You pretty much lock out of everything F2P. It's the recurring thing that bothers me personally. A one-time fee is the best way to sell games, but who wants to keep buying DLC each time a new area opens up. Like Guild Wars 2 as an example. You must not know what an mmorpg is? Local saved games like Skyrim can do one time payment because they don't have to host anything for the players to play the game. mmorpg and big ones at that, have a montlhy cost to running them, and that price can sky rocket up depending on how many players you have and how badly programmed the server is. That is why almost every mmorpg have some kind of subscription tied to them, even if they are f2p. Honestly, I feel content rush when I got to play the whole month every day 7 hours+ to get my money worth.
