Your comment about time moving fast gives me such nostalgia. When I was a kid logging into RS2 for the first time was the first moment in my life where it felt like there was a blip in time where i swear I was only playing the game for like 30min. In reality was 5-6 hours. I still remember that messing whit my head for the next few days.
Happy to see you got to play the game. Was still hoping for some gameplay footage but I understand your position. Looking forward to see whats more to come!
7 days boys 7 days! Pretty excited to be able to play a gower brother mmo on day one. I started runescape late 2007 early 2008. Watching videos on runescape classic makes me feel like i missed out. Seeing party hats drop, all the clan interactions, people like bluerose getting into the 90s and smithing the first rune. Not missing out this time, im gunna be there!
That's what I'm really excited about too. 99.99% of us are going into this game completely blind. How exciting is that?! It's a rare experience nowadays.
I'm so glad you got to have a chance to play and experience the game and I am looking forward to the videos when you can talk about all the stuff you experienced once the game comes out. I am so excited for this to come out!!
Anyone else request a day off of work for this games release? Haven’t been this hopeful for a game in a long while. The fact we know so little about it makes me want to play more. lol
Great to hear your thoughts BSC. Seems like it's shaping up to be an interactive grind game which you can also play passively as well, as we expected. Looking forward to playing on the 6th.
Lurker of your channel. Had to comment! First of all, with how tight info has been on the game thanks for giving us something at least from someone who has played the game. Gower’s a smart dude and because of RS I’ve always felt that this would be that one game that came out and wasn’t going to fail like so many other high hopes games we’ve seen in the industry. Even though you can’t get too specific I think the majority of us wanted to know exactly what you talked about. Does feel like RS but different? From your video it seems like it. But the good parts of RS. The adventure, the quests, working for new skills and abilities. SO EXCITED for this! Might be the game I’m excited to play the most this year
Appreciate the excitement! But, man, back in the day, everything in RuneScape was about discovery on your own. No guides, no step-by-step hand-holding - just you, your curiosity, and the grind to figure things out. That patience, that feeling of finally cracking something after hours? It made the game. Nowadays, with all the handholding, that reward of genuinely uncovering secrets has gone missing. Modern games often spoon-feed solutions, leaving little to the imagination. So if this new game manages to capture that true spirit of discovery that’s what’ll set it apart. Here’s hoping Gower stays true to that!
You know how in OSRS, it is incredibly difficult to get anything done without looking up a guide, or making use of some runelite plugin? Does this lack of information also plague this game in your opinion? The immersion is broken when as a player I need external resources to progress.
@BrighterShoresCentral i grinded in Episode 1 out of excitement only to find the Skills can only be used in Episode 1, i was hoping to fish all over the brighter shores maps :( same with Combat Gear, i had gotten good gear in EP1, entered EP2 just to find out all that grind was for nothing because the stats don't carry over, so i grinded good EP2 gear just to find that EP2 gear stats don't carry over to EP1 :( this got me reaaally bummed out and unmotivated to keep going, i love to build and see the character grow and so forth but the fact that Armors&Weapons&Skills are episode specific and don't carry over seems like it's not rewarding the time i put in since the progress only matters in that specific episode, big sad :((( I'm in the hopes that they will change this. i simply don't have it in me to start over every episode just to grind and start from scratch. i also find it extremely disappointing that there is duplicate skills, ie. Gathering & Foraging and Guarding & Scouting. they could fix alot by just making one gathering skill that applies over all regions. Can't wait to see how the game is updated and upgraded in the future, hopefully they don't stick with this approach that forces you to start from zero every episode.
Hey! :) Thanks a lot for this video. It is interesting to see what almost getting no information about a game does to an interested player like me :D It was great for me to listen to your personal emotions about what you experienced before many others. This feeling of adventure is something I really want to know about since there were moments like this in my gaming past. Keep us hooked like that. Much respect and recognition for you who catches me just with words!
Is questing similar to Runescape where you can see all the quest names before you unlock them or how does that work, and anymore information on questing you can give would be amazing. Great video!
I been playing "skilling" MMO's since the pandemic. I'm new to the genre. I have played Old School Runescape, RPG MO, Damascus, Eternal Lands, Kaetram, Curse of Aros, Genfanad just to name a few. What I realized is that every one of these skilling games seem the same. You run to a point of interest for example a mining node, then you run back to a bank. So the majority of the game is POI --> bank --> POI --> bank. I really hope Brighter Shores makes the "skilling" gameplay a more enjoyable experience. As a side note. In my opinion, out of all the skilling MMO's I played. I have to say that "RPG MO" is the best.
You can have youtube open next to the game and listen to your favourite linkin park / disturbed / starset music video or Netflix movie. Equally, you can have it full screen screen there is variety for both.
"cozy" sounds just about right. I turned 50 a couple of weeks ago, and ofc games changed compared to 40 years ago, but I have to be fair, I also did change. In my early 40s, I pretty much ditched first person shooters. And now I notice I don't need flashy fast-paced action anymore. My situational awarenesss is weakening, and so is my reaction time. I have never played any RS, but yeah, slow and my own pace does sound about right these days. My most critized flaw of modern games is: are you playing the game? Or is the game playing you? I don't mind a grind; on the contrary, what is the point when you get everything for free with 2 mouse clicks? But I can't stand games that tell you WHAT to do and WHEN to do it. E.g. server events at exactly x o'clock (and only then), maybe multiple times a day, maybe once a day, heck, sometimes even just once a week. FOMO is such a biatch. Let's find out how this game feels in ~10 days.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH this made me so much more excited!!! I'm glad you got to play it!! Are you allowed to answer if you got to name your character immediately or was it a while after you got into the game?
@@elijahbevans6985 No? you should read their website to understand. Everyone can name their character, premium will just allow you to have no # numbers behind your name. The game won’t have Microtransactions that’s been stated since the beginning.
Thanks for this video, can't wait to try this game. Not sure when they'll release pricing info, or whether it's one character per account, but will probably buy it instead of renewing RS3 x 4 accounts when they're due next month. Frustrated to heck with Jagex and their MTX shenanigans. I barely play RS3 anymore. Subbed to your channel, hoping to learn from your beginner tips and more. ☺
You can chose 3 character slots and two zones are free with lots to do without paying anything. The other zones you can unlock with a optional premium sub (Like RS)
@@BrighterShoresCentral Thanks for the info! I don't mind paying for a premium sub, especially with 3 characters per account. Really excited for this game.
Addictive you say? Guess i got to get ready for 15+ hour days. The quickest I ever hit 1,000 hours in a game was Animal Crossing New Horizons in 3 months during peak pandemic. Hopefully Brighter Shores can beat it. Only big issue is 3 holidays and OSRS Leagues taking place in that time frame.
The question I have for you that you can answer because it involves "feeling" is: Does this beta experience drive you to wanting to make more videos on various different aspects and gives you ideas on future videos? I know you cannot right now, but I'm saying if there was no NDA, does the game give you motivation to make content about it?
@@BrighterShoresCentral - Sorry for the confusion, I'm not asking if you're planning on releasing some videos on it. I'm asking if you playing the beta has motivated you to make videos on the game in general or do you feel it won't have enough content for you to enjoy making videos about? It's me trying to determine if I try the game out. If you being a RuneScape player thinks it is mediocre or just slightly above average, I probably shouldn't waste my time.
@@BrighterShoresCentral - Awesome, I'll look forward to giving the game a try then! In the mean time, enjoy the beta and know the rest of us are jelly lol!
Without watching the video, and with your name being brighter shores central, I can only imagine what Brighter Shores review will be like on brighter shore... lol.
@@undertyped1 nah totally understand how that could look 😂 but I will genuinely be trying to find negatives for the game tried to talk about them in this video but from my own experience honestly can't find many at the moment, If I find stuff that I don't like won't be afraid to mention it.
Quick question, and it might be a stupid one... but, I know Shores is NOT RuneScape. However, when you played it, did you feel as if it was kind of RuneScape reimagined? Words cannot express how excited I am to play this soon. Andrew is a legend, I'm just so happy we live in a world where he has decided to create another MMORPG and I'm personally able to jump in and play it as an adult, whereas when RuneScape first released, I wasn't able to. Roll on the 6th of November!
Saw a comment you made on discord just now about premium pass allowing you to reserve a name for early access? And does it mean beta testers get the first pick at names then? Or will it be wiped for final launch?
Hey, thank you for sharing your thoughts! Could you please also describe your impressions from combat? Just generally speaking, was it satisfying or lacking? Do you look forward to it as much as profession training and exploration?
Relaxing, but special attacks are not available at launch yet that's coming after. I think the focus is the base game first then challenging bossing will be more fleshed out later.
do you know when they are going to lift NDA? or are they going to keep it until Nov 6? I find it kinda strange that 10 days from release they are this uptight about it, for sure abnormal when compared to 99% of other games. Hopefully you can do some sort of QnA or something, maybe after speaking with the devs again about being allowed to reveal some more info cuz this didnt tell me much
To those who are worried… remember we are in the live service era and games are easier to update these days. Brighter shores was developed with updates in mind. There will be changes and adjustments for balances and ultimate to appease the player base. Get your character in early and the game will catch up.
I never hit the like button. It takes a lot for me to subscribe. Lets get this into the youtube algorithm. You got my like and sub. I appreciate the video.
Not sure if you didn’t discuss it due to the embargo but just wondering if you had any general thoughts on the combat of the game if you got to experience it ?
RS gives me the deepest most unique nostalgia, so deeply painful. The Early Internet. Young Age. web browser game. f2p. fresh and no META . Untouched by giant corps. No catering to whales. 2000's edge. the stars Aligned for RS, and i believe that meta gamers optimize the fun out of games. day 1 we will have people ready to drop a vid to show most efficient lvling guide, and everyone will once again be wearing clone armor. I dont believe BS will ever reach where RS is or was. but i will surely be playing, and without meta-guides or wikiing; as God himself (andrew G.) intended. Cheers from BC :)
Is it going to be like Runescape where everyone is supposed to be everything? I mean, something I hated about RS is that even though it's supposed to be a RPG, almost everybody had the same goal ➡ maxing EVERYTHING to get the final cape, actually the game was designed in a way so that you have to max some stuff to max other stuff. What I mean is, what's the point of learning "cooking" if everyone else is a cook? Who are you going to cook for, only for yourself? Is that fun in a MMORPG? Will the game incentivize players to specialize in certain professions so that this can look like a RPG and not a game where every player is "going to max everything" and so everybody is everything and so cooperation is not required?
Due to the level it goes up too and the amount of professions that will be continously added and new episodes I see people focusing on specific professions, of course people may attempt to max long term (a big task) but most will maybe pick a couple of skills they get really high in.
@@BrighterShoresCentral but wait, I've seen people saying that you are forced to level all professions to certain degree to progress through quests? What if I don't want to fish? Is that a possibility for me?
Sounds like the perfect Dad game. You know, the type of game you can still play when your kids need you to get up every 2 minutes and help them. I'm excited.
I know you prob cant answer this but please tell me they removed the combat bounce back in trailer when you or an enemy gets hit you bounce back and forth..i dont know how you feel about it but it doesnt seem good. And if your not a fan of it maybe submit feedback for it...i feel like lot of people wont like it
As someone who got all 200M Skill’s in RuneScape before they destroyed their integrity by going P2W so unfortunately, I think I have to avoid Brighter Shores as to not fall into another addictive game cycle. - I’m either all in or not at all type of player 😅 - Thanks for the honest video! 🙏

What a tough position you're in on this game, evangelist for a divisive game which predates on an established title, your youtube career will be dead if it doesn't work and if it works you'll still have to compete with established dudes. People are divided on BS, I'm still very curious. There has been work on the engine and it definitely shows. On the other hand I'm very confused or pessimistic about most aspects of the game we have been shown. The thing I like the most, and it is very subjective, is that the business model looks perfect for me. The things I hate the most are that combat looks like a worst version of wow mascot duels but the most daunting imho is the offline experience. For us, likely day 1 p2p players, yes it looks mostly like upsides, but for the community it is not maintanable, it looks like playing the game is almost like participating in a Ponzi scheme, it really feels like crackhead game design, but maybe it's just crap and it won't have any impact on anything who knows. If passive experience is really a thing, how to balance content when there are 1year+ account and new accounts?
the fact that its already the 25th of OCT and no new trailers or actual gameplay is scary now is the time get people excited and show off some elements of the game
It seems like Gower doesn't want it to blow up on release and dwindle off like most newer MMOs go through. This method will allow the servers to grow with popularity(if there is some)
I hope the two games compete with each other kind of like what Vintage Story and Minecraft ended up doing. Ever wonder why macroshaft started putting out real content all of a sudden after years of sitting on their asses? That's why. RS3 might actually have to stop treating their playerbase like cattle if a viable alternative comes to steal their dwindling playerbase.
Limiting what their players can say about a beta test. Is a huge red flag. At this point they need all the hype they can get. So im guessing it will be verry boring.
Please SUBSCRIBE if interested in this game. DAY ONE I will be putting up a useful video / future videos coming soon on this game.

@@BrighterShoresCentral Thank you for the reply! Looking forward to trying it out myself soon.
If you still have access can you try brighter shores beta on a steam deck to see if it functions well and just add that to your day 1 review?
I have no steam deck at the moment but Andrew has said that it will be available on steam deck unsure if that will be at launch though.
Cool ty for responding
do you know when they are going to lift NDA? or are they going to keep it until Nov 6? I find it kinda strange that 10 days from release they are this uptight about it, for sure abnormal when compared to 99% of other games. Hopefully you can do some sort of QnA or something, maybe after speaking with the devs again about being allowed to reveal some more info cuz this didnt tell me much
@@HypeRNT QnA is a good idea, might do that. It's Nov 6th game launch embargo lifts unless I'm told otherwise before
Can you speak to the performance of the game? I’m nervous that my old PC may not be able to play it. I have a 1090T, GT 1030, and 8GB RAM.
the specs are available on steam page for the game :) but it doesn't require much in terms of PC
To those who are worried… remember we are in the live service era and games are easier to update these days. Brighter shores was developed with updates in mind. There will be changes and adjustments for balances and ultimate to appease the player base. Get your character in early and the game will catch up.
Good point
I never hit the like button. It takes a lot for me to subscribe. Lets get this into the youtube algorithm. You got my like and sub. I appreciate the video.
@@zimmesco thanks very much!
@@BrighterShoresCentral You're welcome. Thanks for keeping me updated on this great looking game.
No one is talking about the combat, or is there any bosses? How is the gear? and how does the gear look and feel? This is what I would like to know
Not sure if you didn’t discuss it due to the embargo but just wondering if you had any general thoughts on the combat of the game if you got to experience it ?
Fairly strategic, but no special attacks yet when they add that think it will get better
When can we play??
nov 6th
How does combat work?
Uploaded a new video on this
How can I play chat? I’ve been playing Runescape since 2002 I’m ready for something new
6th nov
I'm so hyped to finally have a game that is similar to Runescape without it being owned by Jagex
Yes, owned by Andrew Gower with no publishers breathing down the neck for MTX (In the case of RS3, OSRS still good).
@@BrighterShoresCentral Just in general, Jagex has done so much shady stuff to the community in the past that I'm just over with them
The quests will be good. i mean Paul created some great quest content on RS2
"So for the negatives, it's just too much fun and there's too much to do". I'm dying, lol.
I thought you said you weren't in the closed beta last video?
Check recent community post on community tab on my channel :)
Interested to try it
Your negative feelings section gave really strong, "My greatest weakness is that I care too much," vibes.
@BrighterShoresCentral alright thanks for the quick response, that may work, will check it out 👍🏻
@@BrighterShoresCentral but wait, I've seen people saying that you are forced to level all professions to certain degree to progress through quests? What if I don't want to fish? Is that a possibility for me?
1:52 video start
I neeeeeed ittt 😩😩😫
Not long now, soon be Nov 6th
Sounds like the perfect Dad game. You know, the type of game you can still play when your kids need you to get up every 2 minutes and help them. I'm excited.
I know you prob cant answer this but please tell me they removed the combat bounce back in trailer when you or an enemy gets hit you bounce back and forth..i dont know how you feel about it but it doesnt seem good. And if your not a fan of it maybe submit feedback for it...i feel like lot of people wont like it
can't really say, but andrew has said that he will be very responsive to feedback
you look like the comedian shane gillis
I missed RS back in the day, UO>DAOC>WOW... Can't wait to dive into BS on day 1.
Glad your looking forward too it :)
RSC was enchanted with jokes and fourth wall breaking from the Gower brothers.
Yup, expect a funny vibe.
I miss those days when you started a game and accidentally just ended up seeing the sun.
Yup!
Where were closed beta access sent out to? Email?
I contacted PR liaison
@@BrighterShoresCentral Still possible or has it ended?
I wasn't aware there was a closed beta.
select few people
@@BrighterShoresCentral That means they recognize you, massive props. It's been great to see you grow as you've been really passionate about this game. Can't wait to play myself.
This game and the new dragon quest all coming out soon. Mm what a great time for gamers
Can we play it on Android
steam deck confirmed, would be the type of game that would fit on such a device
great information, i too plan on supplying information when game launches. on my page. I cant wait. playing cod bo6 till it drops. and pking on osrs lol. do u think it will have good pvp
No PVP at launch, but will be coming later. I can see how it would be quite strategic but we will have to wait and see.
If passive experience is really a thing, how to balance content when there are 1year+ account and new accounts?
rilis global 6 nov?
yup
@@BrighterShoresCentral ty im coming
interesting
Thanks
So basically it’s RuneScape?
Not quite
😸
the fact that its already the 25th of OCT and no new trailers or actual gameplay is scary now is the time get people excited and show off some elements of the game
It seems like Gower doesn't want it to blow up on release and dwindle off like most newer MMOs go through. This method will allow the servers to grow with popularity(if there is some)
Just wants you to go into the game blind somewhat, and enjoy the experience.
Relaxing... until the minmaxers find the optimal way to obtain carpal tunnel
Limiting what their players can say about a beta test. Is a huge red flag. At this point they need all the hype they can get.
So im guessing it will be verry boring.
