I think that's the best coil gun I've ever seen on youtube.
maybe the best looking one but definitely not best working one no offense.
what you saw savage.my unfinished Gauss is the exhaust of the projectile 100 j.I piss with a stronger stream than this goverage shoots
NO... but it one of the best. the really good coilguns use high voltage to fire.
The design is OKAY... its huge and bulky for no reason... I actually wanted to like this gun but the more he shows it the more i realize hes like some 15 year old loser that learned a few electronics lessons... hes LAZY AF, the guy put NO effort into making the paint look nice, its half round / half box shaped with a dash of space age... His switches are from the 1980's ... this thing annoys me on so many levels... he's got the knowledge to make it and design it but then spends ZERO time actually refining it, or making it look good and he decided to get a 3 year old to paint it for him because he was too poor to buy a $20 roll of white filament. It looks like he found a used spool he found Dumpster Diving... LAZYNESS bothers me on a deeper level. - This is what happens when you paid attention in school but your parents dropped you on your head to many times.
"It's a six stage coil gun!"
"Two of the coils don't work, it's technically a four stage coil gun"
Maaan, if those last two coils worked, this would be that much more impressive. Nice work though, you've inspired me to make something cool like this!
It might seem weird how much I gush over this but I love this so much more than how some youtubers go about showing off their builds. You go through your process opening your methods up to improvement or criticism. You took serious time to show off work that you're proud of and you grant the opportunity for others to follow in your footsteps. Thank you!
Thanks 😊. Much appreciated
This is way underrated, deserves way more views. Great job!
I just feel like it’s really stupid that you only got 8k views, I can steal a meme and get that many. This is a professional quality video with good explanation and a very nice coil gun.
Thanks 😊
it's really cool. love it and the music choice was good too
The fact you made it fit inside such a futuristic shell is awesome, well done dude
Thanks 😊
Okay, that is crazy)) I want to make high voltage one, but I should first try to build yours.
Thank you for your work!
Beautiful! Nice design, congrats!
Man you shouldve more subscribers! Thats some good design i love it.
That's the coolest one I've seen, subbed
Thanks 🙂
Nice coil gun, this makes me feel better about my design as I was worried if 2 6s batteries would be powerful enough, I plan on using 5 stages.
Awesome video man! Subbed for sure!
Looks good. Thanks for sharing.
Bro that's a badass gun I'd buy one off the jump!!!
Way better than expected!😂
I will probably start with this when I've finished my current project which also involves arduino and 3d printing but it should be finished pretty soon
You're a mad man. I fucking love this and I want to make my own now
wow, you should be very proud of this achievement.. I can only dream of such skill
Thanks :) Just try making something, it's easier than it looks :)
hey, I am new to this stuff. please tell me what does jp3 means in the driver circuit.
thanks in advance.
Can I use tc4420 in place mic 4422? And is there any other driver ic or circuit to drive 3205 MOSFET?
I srsly do not understand why you dont have at least 100 000 subs
You should use port manipulation and bit shifting in your software, it will boost performance.
Nice work
Can't we use 1 long coil instead of 6 separate coils, does 6 separate coils improve efficiency ?
You're like a more electronic-y and smarter Michael Reeves haha amazing work.
Good work!
Hey, avoid using metals close to your projectile, since it will have a small remanence after you have accelerated it. This will cause extra drag due to Lenz's rule and slow it down. Otherwise awesome build!!!
Thanks for the heads up 👍
Especially aluminum or copper. However, surrounding the coils in in a steel or iron pipe would actually increase efficiency by focusing the magnetic fields.
@Gyro , hi, does mosfets produce any heat?
Can you explain how the motion sensor shuts off the coil?
Theoretically, if you reverse the coil at the right time using perhaps an h-bridge it would increase the speed even further right?
Only if the projectiles were magnets but they would last very long
What would happen if i used many short coil stages and a shorter and therefore lighter round?
Would the projectile's velocity increase?
Not really. You'd just make a smaller linear motor
I'm more scared of high voltage than I am of real firearms lol. This is really cool, I wanna try building one.
Could you measure the bullet speed and mass?
What do you think about possibility of increasing the speed up to 120-150 m/s?
Yes
Coilguns aren't limited. So with a Higher voltage you can Resch higher speed of the projectile
Nice build ! funny that you had to abandon the whole detection system I'm also having trouble with getting it to work well and in that process I've also had it fire backwards. The explanation is simple atleast for my build, there was a large delay on the detection signal because of a capacitor that shouldn't be there and you know that the bullet oscillates around the middle of the magnet when you leave it on that means at some point it is moving backwards towards that point, if the coil gets turned off at that moment it will be accelerated backwards and shoot out the back
Dude, that track at the beginning is frikkin awesome. What is it?
.
Only a villan would play awesome music and not tell people what it is.
good job!
I've meaning to build one myself. So what is the speed of the projectile ?
6:50 RIP Headphone. Good video btw
AWESOME. I've been interested into coilguns for a while now, I have tried doing a small one using capacitor which didnt really turn out very well since i was essentially using scrap parts. Then I've seen capacitor-less coilguns which look way more appealing (the caps are just too expensive and complicated to charge) and your design is just so good that i'd like to do a similar one myself. I've been wondering the price that this project cost you (including blown up parts lmao). Keep up the good work
PS: you've earned yourself yet another subscriber
Thank you so much :) . If I exclude the cosmetic parts I'd say it was somewhere between 50-100€ but I already had the batteries which were the most expensive part as well as the charger for them
Gyro Alright thanks to you, i'll go and work on this project, I don't have a 3D printer so part creating is going to be pretty hard, have you thought about a night vision camera mounted on the gun ? It shouldnt be too hard, I've already done nv goggles so I may put this on it. I'll definitely keep an eye on your channel :)
I'll look into it
Did u try to have the highest voltage possible, so having 1400 mAH is not necessary. use higher voltage and make the batteries in series. they will give u the higher current that u need.
Easy ammo that you may be able to get without much hassle is just, nails or US military surplus flechette
I think you should experiment with smaller caliber rounds because these are thick and heavy and you might want to try with something smaller to punch through more holes ;)
The other thing to try is to partly drill out the centre of the rounds.
That's great it's awesome coilgun i like the design👍💪💪
If you make it stronger it will be a real gun with no powder 😎
Cool Mood noooo, a tar-21 is a waay better model, in a coilgun the number of stages and the maximum lenght of the barrel is more important, you should make the clip charger in the end of the tube and make the barrel go until the far end of the gun.
Hi, I'm following this guide pdf, it says I need 6 mic4422yn but can't find those where I am, any alternative?
Can you show a tutorial about it ?
does it shoot @gyro?
What the ring switch is for?
May I make a suggestion, sir? A slight improvement on increasing stability, accuracy and distance of the round? Have the barrel rifled. The added spin will vastly improve accuracy, distance and penetration. Suggest reviewing laws of ballistics. Other than that, you've built a rather nice 1st generation rail gun. Nice job.
That'd be difficult I think. Theoretically correct, but what makes rifling work is the pressure behind the bullet generated by the powder burning and expanding. Rifling is actually grooves in the barrel that are tighter than the bullet. With the muzzle velocity displayed in this video, I'm not sure he'd have the energy behind the round, especially a steel round, to push it out.
That said, I wonder if there's a way to utilize the magnetic forces involved to impart a similar kind of spin on the round. That'd be very interesting to see.
Thats a VERY cool project, it relly turned out nice. Why are you using fixed times for the coil triggering instead of reading out the light barriers? Maybe you would get more consistend results if for example the gun is angled up or down, and that the projectile is travelling slower or faster initially, the code would adapt the firing sequence for better acceleration in these cases. And please dont make parts of the video extremely loud, you dont want our ears to explode, do you? :) Besides that, I really like the Video!
Thanks. I tried both methods but fixed times simply worked better. If I had oscilloscope and was able to see the timing of light barriers and magnetic fields I might be able to utilize the sensors better but without it it took me days to calibrate it to a point it's in now.
Where did you get the sweet mask from?
I made it 😄
were can i get that mask?
I looked at your link u did not list the voltage & the caps voltage is not listed
U do not give the trigger and lodging mechanism 3d plans
hola perdón estoy perdido en como programaste el arduino me ayudas :v
Love it. But isn't the battery going down fast?
+scopefx thanks. Not at all. With each shot it's on for just few milliseconds. I only charged it once throughout the whole build.
oh okey, was just wondering how long the batteries would last.
The use of creating a point on the ammo using a drill is rather clever. I'm not sure on using a dremel though.
Agreed. That's the only tool I had
@@Gyro1 Oh, I wasn't putting the effort down in any way. It is a sterling effort. I should ponder this myself.
Anyway, back to hacking the Pentagon.... that line cracks me up! Thumbs up.
Gyro well, take your drill and your amunition and use the drill with a statical drill bit to make a hole inside of the iron, like a cnc does.
you had me ded 💀💀💀
Nice! Sucks that its so hard to make an actually powerful one lol
Alien weaponry
You need Bullets with Tungsten/Wolfram or a coated Head in front...
Wolfram is very very hard and strong...
You become a lot more damage i think...
wolfram is also very very expensive and heavy
I honestly wonder how thin of wire you could get away with in a coilgun. I know I could do the math to figure out the current handling, but I'm lazy.
I'm lazy too man 😁
@@Gyro1 I make guitar pickups, and I built myself a coil winding machine. I unfortunately don't have anything thicker than 40awg at the moment haha. I have like 5 lbs of 42awg as well, but something tells me that would short out with battery load. Would be great though since you could get extremely tight coils with high winds.
I am building this just waiting for transistors but instead of batteries i use supercaps
Interesting. You can get a lot more current from those 😀
did you 3d print that mask ??
Yeah
revisit??
Is something like that legal in Germany
Rebree Not sure about Germany... but portable coils guns are not legal here. Prototypes on a bench is okay though.
How lethal is it?I want to buy one.
Like a BB gun. Not much 😁. Sorry I'm not selling them
If you heat threated that wire for the coil, it would have been better for coil purpose.. It's not hard to do. Just an advice.
Building a gun without knowing what a gun looks like lmao 😂
oops 😀
where did u get that mask
I just found that on thingiverse. www.thingiverse.com/thing:1876827
thank you
Those fucking sound jumps, dude. Fucks sake. Thanks for the heart attack.
Post on /r/arduino and I'll upvote it!
Deal. www.reddit.com/r/arduino/comments/7wfe4v/coilgun_project_finished/
Hey gyro, i built my toy based on this video'. Of you want i can ship you a g36 softair rilfe hollowed out and with more space for components and 3d printed parts to make it look more SciFi. It's laying there in my room, looks cool but i have no USS for it, so maybe you could figure something out
Thanks. But I'm probably not going to build another one
@@Gyro1 well, whatever you build I'll be here learning
i love you
Pew pew pew
At 6:49 blood bleeds from the ears. Do not do it anymore, please.
Get stronger ears
I strongly AGREE that you shouldn't do it!
Wooden heat sinks. Oh yeah.
music?
Which one? the first song is ua-cam.com/video/AXM-iSG-hMI/v-deo.html
this was funny
Phew phew phew
Y you have not a lot fans man.
Well, thanks for rubbing it in :D
Gyro haha there is something wrong here? 🤔
Didn't notice the y 😁. Well I don't know
Not powerful enough but... Its cool and beautiful
Nice case design, but the electrical part ist absolutely horrible.
but why does it look like it was painted by a 2 year old?
No offense, but your finished prints are bad. You definitely should collab with RCLifeOn for your 3D prints.
Yea it is 😁. I should have put more effort in. Looks good from distance though 😀
Слабовато...
the world has not yet seen a more miserable lie.dislike simply mega sizes.the cooler was deformed only in vain of his usefulness was much higher than that droch
So quiet then the REALLY LOUD bits.
I'd give thumbs up for content, but giving thumbs down for hearing damage. Don't do it!
