He is right about #1: Don't gloss over that. Make the thing itself, the shot, the presentation, the actual content as good as you can. The less times you think to yourself "Meh.. I can do that/fix that/add that/ in the editing" is the way less difficult life will be. At least, that was a big big lesson I learned. Really, Tip 1 is gigantic and central!
Tip: I'm new at this but found the Iriun Webcam app that you can simply download to a Surface Pro...iPad...or Laptop and connect your phone and see your camera from the rear facing camera just as your audience sees you and yeah a tablet or lappy 💻 is something extra you'd carry but seriously beats a mirror. really helpful things for me that were obvious but i didn't know as a noob: 1. look into the lens when in selfie mode. 2. Set phone slightly below eye level. 3. autolocking the focus by holding the screen. Once again, these are no brainers but i didn't know them so thank you for this.
Hi Justin its good to hear someone talk about android for once instead of I phone. I've watched your video on filmic pro and it seems like a great app but when I used fhe filmic pro evaluater on my Samsung A70 a lot of the functions won't work with my phone such as on my phone I can shoot 4k but filmic pro won't let me shoot in 4k, on my phone I can shoot 1080p at 60 FPS but rhe maximum on filmic pro is 1080p 30 FPS which is a shame great video though thank you😁👍

Quick filming tip. If you can't look at the camera lens of your smartphone due to it being perfectly camouflaged in the cell phone body; here's a way to make it's location obvious. 1) Take a piece of colored tape or sticky note that does not leave a sticky residue. 2) Punch a hole in it using a 1/4 inch paper punch. 3) Place the tape or sticky note on your phone with the camera in the center of the hole. Now you can see exactly where the camera is; and have a target to look at.
Thank you for the video. I just upgraded to a phone with a much better camera you will start making videos. Your tips are going to make them so much better. Thanks

Justin many thanks! I'm starting to plan videos and your tips are amazing! :) I have one tip for you with good intentions: your voice is always in a very gutural reverberation (like if it was being produced in way down in your throat). I advise you to start some voice coaching to allow you to feel less tired when speaking for a long time and to allow your voice to be more fluid-like, more "musical". My area of knowledge is Music - Singing. I hope that you will consider that and allow you to feel more confident and spending less energy on speech. Best regards from Portugal!

Wow Justin. I have watched myriad of videos for recording content on phone. Yours is by far the most informative and excellent that I have ever seen and I highly recommend it. I have subscribed to your channel and I can't wait to watch more of your videos. Keep up the good work. I have never commented on other content creator videos before. You have really inspired me enormously. Many thanks for such excellent advice and quality teaching.
Awesome - so glad you've found value in our content! 😃

This is one of the best videos I've watched as I scope for content to help me start creating content. 🙏🏽
That's great to hear, Derrick! All the best for your channel! 😊
Great video. One of the most helpful. Thank you!
So awesome to hear it! You're welcome, Danielle!
Justin many thanks! I'm starting to plan videos and your tips are amazing! :)
I have one tip for you with good intentions: your voice is always in a very gutural reverberation (like if it was being produced in way down in your throat).
Appreciate the feedback Rita
Thank you for these valuable tips
I'm doing anything right now with my phone.
You're welcome - that's great!
This video is so underrated. Great content ! Cheers from Transylvania !
Thanks, cheers! 🥂
I've seen a few of your videos here and there, this just happened to be the content I've been looking for! This particular video actually made me subscribe!🎉 You simplified the information (without the fluff) and explained yourself clearly and concisely. I learned more in this video than I have in the 20 or so others that I had to go through to get to you!😊 I look forward to going through the rest of your videos to gain more useful knowledge and get more of your great tips! Thank you! 💞 Alicia
Thank you, Alicia. We're glad the video was helpful and it's great to have you here! 😃 - Hazel, PV Team
Just got a new Android phone and this was very helpful. Thanks.

Thanks Justin for your tips, I am newbie in youtube. I am sharing quality content on success tips made easy. Keep safe
You're welcome, Richard - all the best for your channel! 👍
Thank you so much for all your video's. You inspire me to carry on doing my own UA-cam channel and not give up. I too use my mobile phone to shoot and edit my video's.
You're welcome - all the best on your channel! 👍
How would you recommend setting up the rode mini directional midrophone? Just mount it on the selfie stick and point it towards the speaker?
I’ll echo other commenters...Thank You! You’ve helped tremendously as I prepare for my first video! Who says you can’t teach an old (80) dog new tricks!!
You're welcome - good luck on your first video! 😊
Spectacular. Each and every point simple and precise.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it 😊 - Hazel, PV Team
Great video! I am grateful that you showed a shot of your filming. I noticed the lighting, the tripod, and the phone camera setting. I also noticed that you didn't have a teleprompter. I think that you do most of your videos with a teleprompter. How are you so good at delivering such a smooth video that is over 17 minutes long without a teleprompter?
Hey man just wanted to say how much you have helped me! Your videos have helped me so much!
Awesome - happy to help 👍
I have been using my GoPro for all the shots but I now see that using the phone for static shots would be a better way to go. Thanks!
No problem - Cheers! 😊
thank you so much for taking the time to educate us with so many details, hiding nothing back. you are completely generous with your knowledge. I appreciate that. God bless you.
You're welcome - so awesome to hear it 😊
Love your videos! How do I know where the camera lens is on my camera when using the selfie mode? Samsung Galaxy.
Excellent advice. Thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend. 🤗
Don't mention it - have a great day! 👍
