Kresses backstory segments were honestly pretty good It humanized kreese and made him less of a cheesy 80s villain and more of a dude who just had a bad mentor Also, the fact this show went from a UA-cam premium exclusive to being on Netflix is so damn cool
Yea I thought the series was regressing w Johnny & Daniel at first but after the season was over I see what they were doing & love it. U can’t just say ur gonna team up & suddenly all ur differences w be set aside so rlly this whole season was slowly about Johnny & Daniel coming around to accepting & more importantly respecting each other’s ways of martial arts & now after the events of the season finale these characters are TRULY ready to work together instead of just SAYING they’ll work together w/o actually trying to compromise or actually work together as a team
What I like about Kreese is that they never made him a villain for no reason he's brash, arrogant, cocky but there's a reason behind it & Cobra Kai gave us serious intel as to why he became who he is. We saw he was bullied in high school (This franchise focuses heavily on bullies or being bullied) then we see him in the military how he was bullied by his superior & he develops severe PTSD. He got a letter about his gf but he didn't find this out till later he saves a young Terry Silver he becomes a karate instructor & takes Johnny under his wing & uses brutality to win at everything. Along the way he ruined some of his students lives, tries to get revenge on Daniel, Miyagi while still trying to hold onto Johnny because he sees him as the son he always wanted. Man, Kreese has such a rich history & now he's seeing what his past mistakes has done the biggest betrayal is his old army buddy turning on him.
@@JoJoJoker Yeah, we got to see that when he watched Silver beat the hell out of Johnny & he was ready to literally kill him them he told Tory to permanently blind Sam. But unlike Tommy who followed Kreese's commands Tory refused to do what Silver told her to then Kreese stepped up & told her do what she has to which she did. Tory may have already felt regret for scarring Sam with her spike bracelet. I'll bet Daniel & Johnny will be the ones to bail Kreese out of jail & he decides to help them bring down Silver but Kreese better be prepared for Daniel & Johnny to lay into him hard.
Love Cobra Kai. One of the biggest takeaways is that for such a sweet and simple concept that should probably be only one season, the writers have kept on keeping on making each season worth it. It hasn’t worn out it’s welcome which is brilliant in and of itself. I’ll watch 10 more seasons if the writers can keep this up.
Also, the 30 minute episode with no intro adds to the watch value (and therefore business value) of Cobra Kai. Season 4 is comparable to 1 or 2 seasons of a typical show with their typical 10-20 episode series of 45-90 min episodes.
So many shows fail at their plot twists. Cobra Kai Season 4 rocks out plot twists, flips, spins, double-reverse twists, and more! I just hope they don't mess with the arc miguel is on because to me, he's the most interesting character and rewarding character in the story of cobra kai. I'm hoping for a lot more great moments between him and johnny. And him and sam. If they do this whole sam and Robby thing again, I'm gonna be so annoyed lol either way I love the show overall and will go into it very excited regardless. Can't Johnny sue? Can't Daniel help Johnny Sue to get his business back? These are questions I'm thinking of and I punched out in season 2 when Chrees started taking over everything And also what got me into it was Johnny's redemption. I was at a very similar place in my life with the substances living alone having a son etc And then I felt like oh s*** this is just growing up power rangers
For me season 4 didn't felt last, maybe during season 3 yes, but the longer the season went i new its not going to be last, another two seasons i guess
You’re one of the first reviews I’ve seen where it’s actually one of your favorite seasons most of the ones I’ve seen they’ve said it was one of the weakest , so idk how to feel 😂 I guess I’ll find out in 2 days
u must be tripping my guy, hawk started to realize kreese doesn't care about their students, all he thinks of them as war soldiers, and nothing more. after bringing back enemies, robby, and kyler, he realized he doesnt give two craps about miguel. maybe you just dont understand what's going on, but u cant blame the season for that.
@@binyameen9018 That is complete bullshit. Hawk in almost scenario was willing to drop all his friends if they didn't support Kreese and even broke into Sams house on two occasions
@@SuperMurray2009 yes he dropped his friends, BUT he had guilt, which was clearly shown, in the first episode when bert was kicked, and when mitch was kicked. he even backed mitch up, and told kreese that he is loyal to the dojo. he even after miguel denied to join cobra kai, he still held a grudge on robby, because of what he did to miguel, therefore honouring him. u just dont see all the stuff
@@binyameen9018 No. That is still bullshit. They showed ONLY 1 scenario that showed that Eli regretted his actions and that was when he broke Simon's arm. But you literally assaulted him numerous times already and could have hospitalized him multiple time already if Miyagi Do didnt step in to help. His character arc is fucking dumb.
I didn’t even know season 4 was already out an I been waiting see this is why I love cody always letting me know things Nvm it comes out on Friday for Netflix
I enjoyed it. Though I did see the tournament ending coming as soon as the "rule change" happened. Wasn't a fan of what they did with Anthony. That didn't make any sense at all, especially since we barely see him in the previous three seasons. Also wasn't a fan of what they did with the new kid. That was a bit extreme. I did like who showed up at the end and can't wait to see where that goes. And given the way it ended and his comment on "friends" I have a feeling someone ELSE will be showing up in season five. Also: the karate during the tournament was pretty badass. Glad they upped the production value from the "tournament" in season one which looked like a yoga mat in a high school gym. Though their continuity is off as to where they start in between points and matches. they're always standing in a different place on the mat. "Go to your mark" but there is no mark. They just stand wherever. The original movie had a dedicated LINE they had to stand behind. This season was just, "stand wherever. FIGHT!" Also glad they got away from the idiotic riot-fights every five minutes like in previous seasons. (high school. Larusso house. etc.) That was a big negative for me on the show overall that there was a full on twenty person brawl every five minutes and nobody in that world did anything about it. Hopefully that's done. Also the criminality of teenagers was annoying.
Good analysis…I agree, it was nice to see the writers learn from their mistakes. Those battle royales broke suspension of disbelief in such an otherwise grounded show. Mama Larusso had to be the voice of reason.
I think season 6 should be the last one. The writers have the series planned out & have never officially stated how many seasons they’ll do but apparently it was originally thought to be a 6 season story arc. Now the writers are willing to expand on that if necessary when it comes down to that in the writers room but they also idolize the breaking bad writers so they know they have to go out on top w the story they had planned & not milk the series into the dirt like so many other shows have done. I’m willing to see them do 1 or 2 more seasons after six Bc I highkey trust the writers to stick the landing but if the series goes beyond 10 seasons I’ll be let down bc that probably would be overkill. Needless to say I think season 6 should & will be the final season! It’s a nice even number totaling out to 60 episodes overall
This should have been the final season or even 5 if they wanted to stretch it. Season 4 should have been all about Daniel and Johnny combining their styles and putting their old rivalry to bed to eliminate the Cobra once and for all with the cliffhanger being the tournament itself being the last part leaving for the tournament itself to be Season 5. Season 5 would be the final culminating with defeat of Cobra Kai with a epilogue episode to wrap it up. That would be way better than continuing to stretch things out like they are now.
@@LUCKO2022 I like the idea of them losing & the kids having to pick up the pieces of the failed sensei’s the writers have done a good job of not stretching it like u said. I would agree if Krease was still the main enemy by the end of the season but he’s not he shows a moment of sympathy & redemption & then gets taken out of the story. I like the idea of him being a stepping stone for the true unhinged Villian of the series in Terry Silver. I like that krease’s warped sense of karate forced Silver out of his new normal life where he’s moved on & Krease brings him back unknowingly unleashing his eventual demise. It’s like in Buffy how spike & drusella were the villains of the first half of season 2 put where eventually revealed to just be a stepping stone Villian for the true villain in Angel now turned to Angelous leading to spike teaming up w Buffy to stop Angel. I think Krease will actually help Daniel, Johnny, & Chozen take down the expanding cobra Kai run by Terry Silver. I actually like them losing bc it’s more complex then just them beating cobra Kai & the show ending just like that. The writers have done a great job of progression & I think that once the series is complete it’ll be a great ongoing narrative similar to how something like breaking bad or attack on Titan is. Actually the writers rlly admire the breaking bad writers so I still have faith they’ll stick the landing!
Terry silver was GREAT! I love him they did him right he’s exactly like he was in kk3 except brought him successfully into the vibe & feel of this show
No he wasn't. He wasn't done right at all. He was far too mello for most of the season. It wasn't until he beat the crap out of Johnny and later Sting Ray that we got the same Silver from part 3. He barely did anything through the whole season. Then the ass pull at the end where he just betrays his former friend just comes out of nowhere.
@@LUCKO2022 he was a completely different person forced back into his more sinister persona from 3. This takes time ofc bc it’s been years. Maybe you should stop watching this show if all ur gonna do is hate on it bc clearly it’s not for u. I don’t think the betrayal came out of nowhere we saw throughout the season Krease holding nam over his head & silver taking an issue w it internally which leads into him “shedding his weakness” in Krease. Even if it’s seen as clunky from ur perspective u should be happy he’s back to the kk3 silver Villian mode as the new big bad of the series anyways he’s clearly doing a good job in the role & again having a blast doing so. This is a series based off the karate kid not Citizen Kane. Not to say cobra Kai isn’t a great continuation of karate kid it’s still the karate kid & thus has cheesy 80 elements even w the updated themes & viewpoints of the present day!
This is my favorite show, I absolutely loved the first half, the second half was great but the sourpuss look and mood Miguel has had for like three seasons now is annoying me
Spoilers The tournament is stopped when Johnny has a heart attack in the closing moments before Robby & Miguel even face off to determine the winner it ends there in slow motion.
why does it take a whole year to release a season of cobra kai? Theres like no cgi or special effects, I would think netflix would want to release 2 seasons a year.
Maybe you heard about a certain virus going around for the last 2 years that led to several production halts? Also, moviemaking is heavily dependant on time schedules, especially when a lot of main characters have to be around for the same scenes.
Because actors have lives. It was reported that Season 4 had finished filming fairly recently (Around the time Season 4 will air) so its safe to assume that theyre around one season ahead.
Ater watching season 4, I felt disappointment. It is the cheesiest of the 4 seasons to me. I know they all have their cheesy points, but season 4 seems the worst to me. It surprises me that people seem to love season 4 and call it their favorite or 2nd favorite season. Nothing they've done beats the first season. The nostalgia of the series was perfect and it was cool seeing where the KK characters are now. I really enjoyed the Kreese backstory in season 3 and felt that help make it the 2nd strongest season. I thoroughly enjoyed season 2, especially the school fight, but not as much as 1 and 3. To me, season 4's quality is way below the other seasons. I just wasn't into it and didn't have the "can't wait until next episode" feeling I've had previously. Maybe I need to restart the whole series and watch it all the way through.
He was a pawn in an adult karate war, his objective was to prove himself after his injury, not to win a war. Also, they needed an interesting direction to push the storyline.
Havent watched the final episode yet but this season is a dip in quality for me, it's so cheesy and predictable at this point that I find it hard to remain intrested
The worst thing about the entire show is when they flashback to the movies. It completely under cuts the emotion of the scene that's unfolding and they only do it to remind people who haven't seen or don't remember the movies. It stinks and I wish they would stop doing it. Otherwise, I love the show and I loved how in season 3 they handled Ali with an "i" . Also, that ending when Daniel saves Johnny from Kreese was spectacular!
Totally agree, their killing me with the constant flashbacks to the movies. They should have stopped using them after season one, other than that I love the show.
i totally agree with you about the suspense of disbelief. especially with going to jail. like. for example. how torri wasn't in jail she literally was trying to murder sam. i mean she first came into the room with the speaker system to the entire school and ilterally said what she was going to do and every teacher. prinicapal etc.. all heard it. and when amana was trying to do the restraining order and kreese filed one on her and they all accused her of being crazy. and they talked about him being a war hero, why didn't she just say "yeah, uh, exactly? the guy put cobras in all my cars at my dealership, and orderd his students to commit crimes , horrible crimes, i came in and slapped him, so people? who do you think needs a protection order? a war here who was in the special forces and nkows every form of full combat or me, some woman that is skinny and never even trained in any karate?
I do like cobra kai but the dialogue is kidonf cringy sometimes and its also very predictable at points. It seems like it is written by teenagers. But its still fun to watch even tho its soooo unrealistic, especially the fight scenes.
Bro I’m so excited to see it. My favorite characters are Miguel Johnny and Daniel. Hawk is growing on me. Peyton list is a trash character. Everyone else is ok.
The guy who plays Silver played a pretty damn good vampire in John Carpenters vampires.
He also played Peyton Sawyer's first dad in season 1 of One Tree Hill.

Without saying too much, I loved the line, "The guy who's gonna win the whole fucking thing"
Agreed on the importance of the tourney. It isn't 80s nostalgia without a "final fight"
I liked Season 4 a lot more than Season 3. Great show! I never want it to end even though it should have an epic conclusion.
Well it will be ending after Season 6 for better or worse though.

I mean who's in charge of the rent and collecting me fees from the students? Can't Johnny sue? Can't Daniel help Johnny Sue to get his business back? These are questions I'm thinking of and I punched out in season 2 when Chrees started taking over everything
And also what got me into it was Johnny's redemption. I was at a very similar place in my life with the substances living alone having a son etc
And then I felt like oh s*** this is just growing up power rangers
Can't wait for season 4. Been watching since youtube red from UK 🇬🇧
This was probably my favourite season so far. 9/10 for me!
For me season 4 didn't felt last, maybe during season 3 yes, but the longer the season went i new its not going to be last, another two seasons i guess
Can't wait to see this, been missing it
You’re one of the first reviews I’ve seen where it’s actually one of your favorite seasons most of the ones I’ve seen they’ve said it was one of the weakest , so idk how to feel 😂 I guess I’ll find out in 2 days
Everyone has their own opinions
@@justdiego5322 baha yea and after watching it Id say it’s my second favorite
Woaaa, woaaah, 😆 🤣 😂 R.I.P. Noriyuki Pat Morita.
Season 1: 9.2
Season 2: 8.8
Season 3: 9.5
Season 4: ??
I really dislike all the switching sides stuff. It doesn’t always feel earned within the narrative
great show , good writing
100 percent agree on wonky characters. I still think Hawk's character arc is stupid.
I laughed how he just switched sides.
u must be tripping my guy, hawk started to realize kreese doesn't care about their students, all he thinks of them as war soldiers, and nothing more. after bringing back enemies, robby, and kyler, he realized he doesnt give two craps about miguel. maybe you just dont understand what's going on, but u cant blame the season for that.
Karate Kid 3 is my 2nd fav too because of Terry Silver
Sweet, great review. I’m excited!
The Vietnam scenes and the backstory were my favorite parts of season 3. Just sayin like.
Nice shirt Cody
You're the only one who's addressed the rooftop thing. That was way too far for me.
I didn’t even know season 4 was already out an I been waiting see this is why I love cody always letting me know things
Nvm it comes out on Friday for Netflix
lol
Hi Cody, do a spoiler talk! That's more your thing!!!
But I really liked your non spoiler review!
FIGHT!"
Also glad they got away from the idiotic riot-fights every five minutes like in previous seasons.
I can’t wait for this Friday!!
... Season 4 - The best of the series so far in my opinion (Terry Silver stole the show!!!)...
Same positives I have but one thing that annoyed me was it seem like bad lipsinking in the final 2 episodes
This is my favorite show, I absolutely loved the first half, the second half was great but the sourpuss look and mood Miguel has had for like three seasons now is annoying me
Can I actually have spoilers? Who wins the all valley?
Spoilers
The tournament is stopped when Johnny has a heart attack in the closing moments before Robby & Miguel even face off to determine the winner it ends there in slow motion.
@@B-Dad that made my heart sink
@@B-Dad that’s such cap lmao
NO NO NO
@@lyzgomes5960 It's fake, lol. The creator's have made it clear that the tournament will end with a "clear winner".
why does it take a whole year to release a season of cobra kai?
The fact Miguel didn’t end up continuing the tournament made me so mad. He woulda totally won it
Yeah but the kid already has a W under his belt & at a certain point we all have our limits.
He was a pawn in an adult karate war, his objective was to prove himself after his injury, not to win a war. Also, they needed an interesting direction to push the storyline.
Just finished season 4
My fav was Terry Silver ! He stole the entire season
Can't wait to see it. Thanks Cody
Daniel my way is better !
Johnny : my way is better
Kids: shut the f**k no one way is better 😂😂😂😂
Man , I can't wait for Mike Barnes to show up lol
Danone’s son is the worst and has been since day one. Wish they would write him out. “F it. We sent him to boarding school”
Done
The obvious solution would be just to call the police, but then we wouldn’t have this show!
What’s up? Love the content. Have you give “yellowjackets” a watch yet? It’s really good and has definitely has some horror elements to it.
Never do that woaah thing again!!😂
Can you do your spoiler review?
i totally agree with you about the suspense of disbelief. especially with going to jail. like. for example. how torri wasn't in jail she literally was trying to murder sam. i mean she first came into the room with the speaker system to the entire school and ilterally said what she was going to do and every teacher. prinicapal etc.. all heard it.
and when amana was trying to do the restraining order and kreese filed one on her and they all accused her of being crazy. and they talked about him being a war hero, why didn't she just say "yeah, uh, exactly? the guy put cobras in all my cars at my dealership, and orderd his students to commit crimes , horrible crimes, i came in and slapped him, so people? who do you think needs a protection order? a war here who was in the special forces and nkows every form of full combat or me, some woman that is skinny and never even trained in any karate?
I do like cobra kai but the dialogue is kidonf cringy sometimes and its also very predictable at points. It seems like it is written by teenagers.
But its still fun to watch even tho its soooo unrealistic, especially the fight scenes.
How did u already watch the show?

Mike Barnes is Miguel’s Dad.

I’ve seen from multiple reviews that Tory has the best story of the series so hopefully her character gets a lot better in this season.
