@Joel Johnson Actually there was security. They just didn’t show up until the end, only broke up the two smallest fighters, and Stingray claimed he could handle it.
@Joel Johnson I personally preferred season 2, because season 1 felt like a bit of a retread. Similar to how the Force Awakens was a retread of A New Hope. Nothing wrong with that, because I still liked season 1. It just felt like we’d already seen most of what happened that season.
I also think I’m going to like season 3 even more. Despite the flaws Cody mentioned, the trailer made it seem like Daniel and Johnny are going on a bit of a road trip to make things right. I can’t wait for that.
Funny, in 3 different forums I brought up that obvious lack of reality. I’d always get “.... it’s a tv show. Relax.” Which is the dumbest and biggest dickheaded fucking thing you can tell someone when they want to discuss a show they love. Wish y’all were there alongside me. In reality, Tory would’ve been caught and in trouble way before the fight even started. Let alone it getting as far as it did.

Just finished it earlier. I did notice some of the flaws you mentioned but thankfully it didn't take me out of the experience, loved it from start to finish
I totally disagree with you on most of your negatives.. Especially on Robbie, but also with Hawk. They certainly could have built it up more with Hawk, BUT at the same time, it was pretty obvious he was having an internal conflict.
Went straight to netflix to watch it once I saw the video title 😭😭 will have to wait for a few more days but great review 😊

Your review is kinda nitpicky. I guess the expectations are quite high. I still think Season 3 is superior to Season 2.
I dont think its nitpicky to point out major pieces of the show. My deal with the play fighting in the background of the final fight I understand seeming nitpicky.

This review is way too different from almost every other review that I know most of the negatives aren’t really negatives lmfao.
I'm glad they included Kreese's backstory. He deserved one. It helps you sympathize more with him, while not condoning his methods with the kids. There is some truth to his way of teaching, but it is way past the point of good discretion. Johnny's learned how to mellow out the ultra hard edge he grew up with while keeping things real.

I liked the season. My issue was the suspension of disbelief for the criminal activities somehow not having repercussions didn't work for me. And some of the school drama led to cartoonishly stupid administrators being oblivious,which even in good movies can be irritating . I agree about Damian and sort of Robby,although I think I see how Robby can work going into Season 4. My comparison would be to Daredevil Season 2 and Better Call Saul Season 4; at times they feel just perfect, really getting their material and delivering what you want to see and at times feeling overstuffed,half baked and just off,especially compared to the better seasons and moments. Still like this one and here's looking forward to Season 4.

I am totally done with the series. Like you said, majority of the writing were bad, they change the character's personality just.....because they want certain twist in the story, but it feels totally forced. The fight in CK is never great in the beginning and now it is a joke to watch. They should have ended the show in Season 2 right now the story is getting too big and out of focus.
I can't wait for season 3 I have season 1 and 2 on dvd and I have karate kid 1-3 and the next karate kid on dvd I'm definitely getting season 3 when it's out on DVD as well
What Cody says about Hawk, I TOTALLY AGREE WITH. How he turns out at the end of this season (No Spoilers) is completely unearned and makes no sense.

@@SpiralSkylines I wouldnt say it doesnt make sense but it's definitely unearned. It's obvious hes a conflicted character but they didnt make his transition smooth or believable in the finale.
What Cody said, Reese C. I just also think that it doesn't make sense because Hawk LEADS the Cobras to the showdown destination and what happens to him during said showdown, is completely different from how he acts in the first half of the showdown (again no spoilers).

Was Miguel really good in season 3 finale?
you could tell from the clips released that the acting and writing was subpar almost like the adult actors are laughing inside as they say the lines. This was filmed by youtube so Im guessing they had less money for the third season and had to cut some of the writers and stunt coorodinators .. sucks really. Surprised Netflix just didnt give them some money for re-shoots. Hopefully they will get more for Season 4 and it will be better.. Also, hopefully the whole Aisha, Nicole Brown, situation was not something the producers did on purpose becasue they didnt personally like her but rather just a hiatus thing for her to come back later. If it was done on purpose because of personal reasons, that can really effect a lot people to sabotage the production ...
I think once Netflix takes over the actual filming and production in season 4, many of the negative things in the UA-cam production will get better...hopefully.

Same with season 2 ending fight you can see the double they used with Miguel & there was a background camera you can see in season 2, episode 9. Cobra kai directors & producers need to pay attention to detail in season 4.

I don't understand your thoughts on Hawk. There were many times you saw in his eyes he felt bad a wrong about what he was doing then he gave in to peer pressure.
Because his behavior never changed. Then he leads a gang to the Larusso house and decides on a dime mid-fight to switch sides

Two years late to the party but I am finally watching Cobra Kai and Daniel's story in that place that he goes, as someone that loved all the original movies I was crying like a baby for that whole story arc.

This is the fourth Staffordshire Bull Terrier I owned, my dog Troy passed away before Christmas & it left me devastated I lost couple close family to Covid & felt very depressed as I already suffer from manic depression/bipolar, so I seen this 8 week old grey Staffie with white strip on his forehead & i said gotta have him.
I was thinking of a name & while watching one of your reviews I thought Cody that's a great name, cool dude, nice guy, humble so I named him Cody.
However this Cody is a inquisitive little thing, he loves to play & likes lots cuddles but also enjoys nipping my fingers & trying to eat my slippers lol, he's feisty but so adorable.
We watching Cobra Kai season 3 together we are both enjoying it strangely Cody barks at Kreese when he on screen & he wants watch Karate Kid movies now so have stick em on for him lol.

This was actually the only season Robbie made sense to me. He always was a prick, I never bough him as being real or sincere when he was Miyagi-do. This is the first season I didn't hate his character.
The backstory for the character your talking about. I do agree it didn't do much for the person. But it was cool to see how there once were.

The noticeable double part I'm guessing is when Daniel and Chozen fight? In the trailer for season three, you can spot the doubles very easily, which wasn't the case in the original films. Daniel even appears to be Asian lol.
Also, I feel like the writing is too on the nose with this series, and that some of the music is too corny. Having the characters repeat their lines from the original films isn't cool or creative, but kind of cheap and lame. It's too forced. Also when they say these lines, it's usually followed by some DUN DUN DUN cartoony music, which ruins the impact and performances a bit.
If the writers and directors can focus on a more serious tone, less dumb humor and music, and more of the tone and style of the first three films, that would make season 4 perfect.
Though I love the movies, I never thought I'd give this series a try. I watched your season 1 and 2 reviews, and you changed my mind. Have the season 1 and 2 twin pack. Can't wait to start watching. Thank you! Of particular interest is the idea that perhaps Johnny Lawrence has been misinterpreted this whole time. W.A.S.P.! 🤘 Twisted Sister! 🤘

My main criticism would be, too much emphasis on group battles, especially when most group battles end up focusing almost exclusively on one or two fights. I think they just end up diminishing the fights and to some extent, the characters, because for group battles to work, characters have to be dealt with more quickly than they would be in a one-on-one context and important fighters are also going to necessarily be given less time.
You mention a major character backstory. I'm presuming it's Kreese you're talking about? Because you also them mention "these two" so I'm now thinking Kreese and Silver in Nam flashbacks. I'm still guessing Silver will be the season 3 finale reveal.
enjoying it a lot but agree that the production value needs ro be risen a bit (although perhaps is that also part of its charm?)

Finished the show the moment it came out, now that I’ve seen it, I was right. This review was so far out the way 😂. I should’ve known when every other review was mostly positive and this is the only one that isn’t.
You realize my review is MY OPINION right? For someone that likes commenting like a self righteous dick you should at least grasp that concept. A review is not to make my thoughts out to be some kind of rule that you or others have to bend to. @@javolongoblack5028 It’s not just UA-camrs. Lots of columnists for newspapers and magazines get early viewings of stuff. Also test audiences, normal people with connections (like family or friends who work for Netflix), etc.
Probably bcuz of the pandemic the writers couldn't completely focus on the series with what was goin in in their personal lives
This is definitely not the weakest.
High school hall brawl was kinda cheesy, and took me out of it a bit, all they really needed was main good guy, and main bad guy, with a third who you don't know who he's for, leave it as a surprise twist of sorts, but over all really good series.
Season 2 was definitely watered down fron season 1.It was still enjoyable but a step down now apparently season 3 was even a bigger step down with just a few highlights.I'll give it a pass this time bcuz of the pandemic so who knows what the writers were goin through in their personal lives.Hopefully season 4 can get back on track

For me, Robbie's character arc does make sense. He was bad at first because his father was never there and his mother was a junkie who was also never there. He doesn't trust anybody. Daniel gained his trust and he feels Daniel broke that trust when he set him up to be arrested. While it was done in a different way in the show, if you remember, Daniel goes to the dark side for a good chunk of The Karate Kid 3. I kind of think that's what the idea was to have Robbie do the same. While it wasn't resolved in this season, I'm certain it will be. At some point Daniel or Johnny will get to explain to Robbie that Kreese is the one who made Johnny to be the asshole he was before his growth in this series. I dunno... I understand why you had a problem with Robbie's arc, and I didn't enjoy seeing it happen but it does set up for something better down the line. We just gotta get through the wait for the next season, haha!

I would say for the most part you have valid points. Hawks transition was out of place in mind. Also, Robbies character was just blah, no clear direction on where he was heading, and his facial expressions aren’t very consistent to what he is feeling. However, despite some flaws, I would say this season was great. 85/100
