I've followed the restoration series since the first episode and it was great to see the car in person at AFD (coincidently parked next to my mate's XY). Fantastic work Jase, you should be very proud of your efforts. Looking forward to seeing the XA get the same treatment! 👍👍
Well done Jason. You deserve it mate. You did a fine job. Looking forward to the coupe project. Your wife is gorgeous. You are correct. God Bless mate.
Thanks so much mate… the factory is nearing completion so I need to mover everything in and construct the mezzanine floor and offices and as soon as that work is completed I will start the coupe series. I’m really going to focus on the quality of content and production and editing of the coupe resto series.
Thanks Jason, looking forward to following the next restoration series. Seeing all those coupes together gave me flashbacks to my time working at the Sydney Hilton car park and the year the national Ford Dealer Convention was held in the hotel. I think we had 400 Fords in each day for three days. All top spec Fairmonts, Fairlanes, LTDs and GTs. Plenty of coupes, nice cars but gee we hated reverse parking them! Cheers.
@@BoyAnachronism01 At the Hilton we reverse parked everything four deep and three across between concrete pillars. Needed a good eye and nerves of steel with those big babies! I reckon a reverse camera might be on the cards for your new build.😀
Great video mate, sorry I didn't get there, it looked like a fabulous day. Hope all is well... and I haven't forgotten your fuse box haha, cheers and take care.
Bet this gave you some huge motivaton and inspiration mate! I really love the XAs with the driving lights as well, single headlight doesnt look as tough. Have to give us an ETA when you plan on the coupe first tear down! Have to find room to put the ZF somewhere while she's getting pulled apart!
Hey welcome aboard mate! You’ve come along at the right time, I’m just about to start working on the XA Coupe … keep in touch aye… how’s life in Croatia?
@@BoyAnachronism01 Life in Croatia is such that for a while I thought about living in Australia. LOL Lots of red tape and corruption and I'm not a fan of that. Just wanted to comment that XA is my favorite. I am looking forward to the next videos.
Hey Jason, I've loved the Fairlane resto and can't wait for the coupe. Your footage of the Geelong meeting took me back. Dad bought a XW wagon (big block 221) from Coffey Ford in Ringwood in 1969 when I was 6 years old. (channeling Peter Anderson) The family and friends have had a succession of falcons since. My first car was a mint (baby poo mustard) XY which being a typical youth I destroyed. I wish I had looked after it. I currently have an AU that I bought new in 2002. It's ugly as fuck as AUs are, but it's growing on me. So surprised how often people admire it. I don't pretend it's up there with X series falcons but it's coming into it's own. Please keep the content coming. Cheers.
Oh mate thanks for the newsy reply… yes I to was repulsed by the AU back in the day but you’re exactly right. They are definitely a rough diamond and are moving up in the imagination. I recall listening to an interview of a ford executive upon the AU’s release defending the design. He said “sure, it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but in time people will warm to the design” lol I didn’t realize he was talking in decades. At the time he was probably thinking or hoping about months. Anyways mate, thanks for keeping me company on the journey… let’s get this coupe going aye
The Fairlaine looks and runs like a real charmer, shame about the AC but I recall you having issues with the pipes and fittings. Hope you get it sorted soon. I loved the coupes, I remember them from back in the day when I was still young and pimply faced. I also remember seeing a lot of them with normal sized tyres in the back and they looked awful. You always had to put on super sized wheels and tyres in the back to fill in that huge rounded quarter. A while back I chanced upon a replica (down to the last nut and bolt) of the Mad Max interceptor which also had the glove box lid signed by the actors and crew of Mad Max which I managed to take pictures of. It was in a workshop getting some work done and the workshop's owner didn't want to talk about it and swore me to secrecy not to tell anyone it was there. He insisted it was a replica and not an actual movie car but it had too many movie details to be a replica and I think it was more likely to be one of several cars used in the movie especially since he was being really protective about me not telling anyone it's location at that time, that's my thought anyway.
Yes mate… that exact car was at the show. The glove box is still covered in signatures … I should have got a vid of it… hey FYI It’s impossible to engage a blower manually with the engine running… In the movie you see max engage the blower whilst driving for extra power. At the time, my mates used to bag those scenes saying that’s impossible. So the other day I cast a critical eye over the set up on the car. The blower isn’t connected to the pully system. That 3” belt on the blower itself is connected to an electric motor that is mounted on a somewhat rudimentary frame beneath the blower pulley. The blower bet is no longer than about 380 mm and connects to nothing else except the electric motor lol Still a cool film tho
@@BoyAnachronism01Yeah, when the mechanic pointed it out, I was surprised to see the blower was driven by a small electric motor and it's for that reason I still think it's actually one of the movie cars because the blower electric motor setup looks like a crappy but functional job the SFX people would do just for the movie and not what someone would do when building a replica.
It may have cost a camera but that shot was worth it! Thank you do much for this extra episode, I'm looking forward to seeing the Coupe and your new factory.
My Friend, doubt your pretty Better-half will never make a Freight Train wanna take a dirt road! As a long time Chevy fan those Ford XA and XB coupes are great looking cars. I look forward to you working on your coupe. How long until the facility is ready for you to begin?
This Fairlane is an example of what Ford could have produced if their priority was making quality cars rather than making as much profit as they could on each unit. Top effort Jason. Fords become a good car as long as you pull them apart, reengineer them, replace the shitty crap materials Ford use, with some reasonable quality materials and then put them back together again properly. The same applies to GMs average efforts.
