I live in South Africa and had a 73 with a 351 which i upgraded with 4V heads and Fairmont GT headers. Body was rusty in places. Loved that car.

The ZF,ZG series Fairlanes and their matching, more upmarket LTD counterparts had a beautiful unmistakable body shape
They were the Australian favourite long wheelbase models throughout the entire 70’s till the late eighties.....
You could spec them up with a 302 or 351 Cleveland V8,
and even a cheaper”Custom”model was available as a 250ci 6cylinder motor with the B/W 3speed auto trans. These models didn’t have the chrome trimmings of the 500 series but they still had the ride and comfort...
,The Fairlane 500’s could be fully optioned and specced up by the original customer....
Power steering was always a standard on Ford’s LWB models, but you could choose everything else if you ticked the boxes....
column shift auto or T-bar auto
C4 or the heavier duty FMX auto trans,9inch diff,Limited Slip options, dual exhaust, metallic or standard color paint finishes,
choice of different interior schemes, with or without cloth seat inserts, factory fitted sunroof, vinyl roof, laminated windscreens, tinted windows,
AM/FM stereo with additional cassette player,2 or 4 speaker systems, standard mirrors
    or remote controlled,
electric windows,Ford’s “Selectair”integrated air conditioning system,
Front and rear bumper over riders, mud flaps,
boot release, towbars and the options list was huge to the point that some were regarded as the barebones Fairlanes and some were regarded as the fullhouse Fairlanes....
the only other Australian built car that could offer all the above options and more as standard equipment,
was it’s even more option included,
    on an even longer wheelbase,
the more expensive, longer, pricier and classier sister.....
The presidential, top of the Ford range LTD by FORD
    They were a very popular,
well designed, reliable and affordable luxury family car in their day.
Most business men drove them too
    Truly one of
    Ford Australia’s success stories!❤️

Beautiful old ZF. Someone has swapped out the taillights to the ZG bar at some point, but otherwise it looks very original and straight. It’s no small feat finding one of these without rust. Well done!

I love this car, my father had a 1975 ZG fairlane green with a white vinyl roof and a Cleveland 302 engine. Never had any mechanical problems it ran really well and it was a very comfortable car with a nice leather interior and good looking dashboard. I wish he never sold it these cars are quite rare

Lovely looking car. Since I'm not from Australia, I've never seen an Australian Ford car in person, or a Holden, or even an Aussie Chrysler. But I have seen pics of them before. 🙂

@@StreetspecTV This is the ZF Fairlane. The ZG has a different grille. If you have a video of that car, I'll check it out. 🙂

Also the 6 cylinder engine was available with a 3 speed manual transmission. You had 2 models custom and 500. The custom would have the 6 cylinder engine. Also the 302 had red painted rocker covers and as an option you could be order your Fairlane with a front door quarter vent window instead of a one piece window as ford was worried about buyers who like to use the quarter window to direct air flow into the car due to air-conditioning still being a option.

This 302 is from a later model, post mid 1975. The ZF 302 Cleveland should have red rocker covers as they are a pre pollution engine, orange rocker covers were fitted to the pollution engines from mid 75 onwards. The ZG model was fitted with both types as it's build dates crossed over. Also the pre pollution 302 engines were fitted with a matching red air cleaner, not a blue one. Also if the car is a factory Selectaire A/C car the A/C compressor is missing, Should be fitted with a York compressor which probably means the original engine was removed. Also it has a Non A/C control unit in the dash and there is a gauge fitted into a blanking plate that should have the integrated A/C ducting vent in it! Dealer fitted A/C that hung under the dash did not utilize the two middle dash vents that sat on the peak, only the out board vents were used as they only ran the heater and fresh air through them. It should also have factory green tinted windows if it's a factory A/C car. As someone also mentioned it is running ZG tail lights. Looks like it has a Falcon radio in it, most Fairlane's, not all would of had an 8 track/AM radio, the fascia on this radio looks to be oversized for the recess it should fit into. The door trims are also ZG and the front centre fold seat is not original as parchment was not fitted into a brown interior, the centre fold seat should be brown also. The washer system is not original either as it should run through the outlets on the wiper motor not directly from the washer bottle. Bucket seats are from a E series Falcon. would say someone has wrecked a ZG and used the engine, door trims, rear tail lights, centrefold seat and rear screen. It's a clean car but in no way original!

Hi mate, that is not a dickie seat in your car! It is a popular truism that over time has been perpetrated. It is a centre fold up armrest. It is not a 6 seater and it is illegal to sit any person there. That is why the car doesn’t have 6 seat belts, which by law it would have if the car was a 6 seater. Please consult the ID plates where there is a section headed “seats” where it will be stamped as 5. I mention this for the obvious legal and safety reasons. Cheers.

Hi, thanks for your support. You are correct, they are ZG tail lights, the ZF lights faded so got replaced with ZG lights.
