Met these guys tonight at a rest stop in central West Virginia on their way back from Power Tour 2023. Cool cars, good guys and I envi their PT experience.
The steering hub logo is a great touch. It's got the c-pillar and tail lights so it's already part of the way to being a T-bird. LOL Looking forward to seeing her get ready for Power Tour.
She's a runner. Sounds like a good list of fixes. But looks like the body is in pretty good shape. Look forward to seeing this one get started and the stories. Be safe and stay well..
Hey! Looking good! I told you on your live feed last night about you being absent. Well now I know why. I haven't been getting notifications on all your new videos. So, I apologize. It's great to see you back. I sure wish I still had my rangoon red '64 Sports Coupe.
Brings back memories of the car I had in 1984. I had a sports coupe model with the center console and the 260 / 2 speed auto. That steering wheel isn't original, the Bakelite steering wheels would crack and break so that's what probably happened to the first one. If you try to put a newer transmission behind the original 289 you will find it won't work. Up until 65 they had a 5 bolt bellhousing and went to the 6 bolt to use an 11 inch clutch. That car is asking for a 429.
Wow, can't get over the Scientific Terminology used on this channel. Like in the following example, "Dad's putting 3 'little jugs' of transmission fluid in." 🤣🤣
Are the rear shocks and leaf springs shot? Or did it ride like that originally? I ask because my 66 Fairlane sits like that too. I got coil overs for the front but don’t know if I need rear leaf springs.
The shocks were definitely shot. The leafs are on their way out but still drive able… they also have other issues that you’ll see in the next video I release
@@Theoldcarchannel. thanks. I bought Viking 2x adjustable hydraulic shocks and coil overs for the front and, 2x adjustable hydraulic shocks for the rear. I just wasn’t sure if I need to replace the leaf springs. I’ll keep an eye out for your next video.
You got one bulb burned out on rear drivers side you have no flasher or brake light but you do have brake light on right side so your brake light switch is fine you just need one bulb in left rear an 1157..
Brake light switch is faulty. We have turn signals, day times, just no brakes (however they randomly come on long after pressing the brake. It’s a pressure switch so it’s probably garbage (don’t really care since I’m changing it all out anyways
Well I have a question for you guys. Do you have occasion to trade the vehicles ya'll work your magic on. them? I've been watching _for a 64 galaxy (i could trade for) along while, I'm disabled , and the fixed in come just won't let me get the things Ive wanted. Ive got a 65 comet , 2dr. Post (200 6cl&a 1990 4x4 Suburban, 350 throttle body that I'm puttin. Up to barter with. I hope you will give it some thought and hit me up. Thanks,, ✌️
Only one corner was “rebuilt” and that was either fixed when we first got it (back in 2009) or from the previous owner. As you could see from the video there was rust in/ on all the wheel cylinder, hence why we cleaned it. Disc will be in another video
craig b - with respect, I think you’re missing the point with regard to this episode. It seemed the me TOCC decided to do this whole episode ‘in dad’s way’, not just the brakes. I loved that they put the car up on axle stands instead of a lift... TOTC, I loved this whole episode; I found it magical and full of kindness toward each other and the car and how it’s special to your family. My favourite part was both hearing and seeing the driver’s door close before you backed it into the garage. It’s clear the car’s got just as long a life ahead of it...! Whatever improvements you make to the brakes, under the hood, etc., I hope you strongly consider keeping what you see original.
So You have all the stuff for the new breaks and Your just fooling around with the drums??? 🤯 I'll be looking forward to the conversion to disc. Skipping the waist of time in this one.

My 66 GTO was 4 wheel drum and I changed it to disc up front and dual cylinder master.
That's my dream car!
Dude let's take that on Power Tour!
Wait, did Dylan McCool work on this car? He painted his drums gold on his Charger! I am enjoying your channel. Thanks for taking us along.
Another car running and driving 👍🏻Watch out for the coppers ?? Up there ?
No way the OPP's gonna care what ur doin.
Yes🤘 should be fun once I’m done with it! Haha so far they haven’t given us a hard time

Where did you get the disc brake kit from?
leedbrakes.com
Always thought these Fairlanes were one of the best looking Ford.
Mike, when are you going to do a Pinto or a Mustang II like in Charlie's Angels!? Power tour Baby!! LOL
"That's a duMAURIER!" hahaha classic canadian smokes

Goodness, how many forgotten Fairlanes do you guys have?? 🙂
4 lol
Why would you waste your time taking apart newly rebuilt brakes? And then put them back together. Especially when you're gonna upgrade to disc.
