Digital is only really convenient on pc because steam is such a great platform, and data storage problems are practically non existent. When it comes to console, I mostly stick to physical
I can only imagine owning all of that stuff, especially how they have their stock set up the way it is now. Both James and Mike own a giant arsenal of retro games that i only wish i had. The room, the way it looks, even that old tv, it draws you in even more to the authenticity of the feel. It's what i want. Of all the retro gaming channels, seeing James room and all his stuff triggers my nostalgia the most. No other channel does that. It's therapy to me. I can have a shit day, but knowing James and Mike are around, and that glorious retro gaming haven of a room exists, puts me in a grateful mood. At least i'll always have that to look forward too...
He did. Also James received a lot of donations from fans. But now James has it. It's his collection now. And his game room looks more 80's then anyone else's.
Hello James!!!! I just wanted to say hello from South Jersey!!!! Thank you for all the hours and hours of entertainment!!!!! You and Mike are incredible!!!!!
Damn childhood all wrapped up into one video. Started watching the nerd when i was like 9 or something and 10 years later it wouldn't have been the same growing up without it.
I was the kind of kid that didn't take care of my games very well and traded/gaveaway anything I got bored with. I could never keep such an array of items in any type of working order. that's an impressive collection.
Because it's a for-profit company that isn't soulless. I mean, I don't have any classic/retro games on me (physical copies, anyways) but if I did, I would definitely give a few to him.
It is indeed smoother, but it's also blurrier. I still have the original 640x480 FLV video saved up on my computer (it's not even on Cinemassacre anymore, which has the same smooth one), and while it's a little more shaky, the picture is much crisper.
So the nerd room is basically like a little room wholly contained within a bigger room? Have you ever thought of just knocking down the walls and making it into one giant Mega Nerd Room?
ey james. hi from argentina. sorry for my english. i saw your videos since...maybe...i dont know, like ever. when you use to be angn. that room, the couch, that old tv, is so familiar to me like any other of any my friends. those walls covered with wood or the shelf...so much nostagia on this tour. thnk you james, you too mike
This game room is one of the best on youtube, if not, the best (at least from what I've seen). I'll never have such an amazing collection! Specially since nobody send me games XD Also, it's amazing how these videos are all filmed in this room, which in itself, is a tiny space.
Just want to say thanks for providing endless entertainment for me. I've watched every AVGN video sooo many times I've lost count. Turn 21 next month and have been watching since I was 13. Great stuff
James you are the King of us Nerds and Geeks man. You passion level is OVER 9000!!! Growing up Tron Deadly Discs was my go to on the Intellivision. Don't know why I shared that but there it is! You Win Bro
@14:04 "...& here's my Slinky!" Cool that it's not stretched out. I feel like this was the Main Tour, & the one w/Mike was the supplemental. 😉👍 The only "console" I didn't see was a Tandy, so I got you beat, Nerd! J/K
thanks for posting this, i must have missed this when it was originally uploaded. i envy your collection, dude. thanks for sharing all the games with us. :P
Nothing beats original consoles and carts/cds. Emulators are fine for those with limited money and space, but given the choice I want original hardware. Watching game room tours like this one, makes me want to collect hundreds of carts and cd games and dozens of consoles.
hi James i'm the only one in italy that knows you and it's strange but i'm 14 and now i collect nintendo games just like you, thanks for all the hours of entertainment
When I move to an apartment, it would be the same as this one. I can make a wall full of games, home movies like cartoons on 8mm, 16mm, and Super 8, Disney VHS tapes, cassettes, reel-to-reel tapes, 8-track tapes and vinyl records along with a nice home audio and video equipment like a TV, stereo, VCR, DVD player, turntable, portable record player, cassette deck, 8-track deck and reel-to-reel deck. It would be one heck of a room.
Growing up in late 80s I only Heard of NES, SEGA and ATARI (yeah, Commodore also), Never knewthere was this many systems. I miss my NES, Super Nintendo, Sega Mega drive (16 bits). Thanks for the tour James.
6:23 that was my system xD heh... I mentioned it in another NERD video and that's awesome it's here, too. I Have "Tetris" by Tengen.. and if James wants it, reach out to me. I would donate it, if he give it a good home.
The Nerd Room has changed since this video - James has now updated the TV from a standard CRT TV to a flatscreen HDTV, reorganised his consoles (and put them on moveable units so he can get behind them easier), got new video switchers, and made new shelving for his games. (See Episode 139 - "Mega Man Games")
I used to have that wooden Nintendo box you have in the closet! The moment I saw it, I could smell exactly what that box used to smell like...really cool tour!
You are so nice, amazing person. Your nerd room is priceless; so many systems and games, many of them are with all addons, wow. It would be so great to be able to hang out with you someday.
People donating their rare/expensive games to James.. That's just so heartwarming. They know they're donating them to a true collector. I'm SO happy for James! I'm also a collector for nostalgic reasons, and I'm also an 80's child. True collectors don't care about the value that much. It's about comfort and nostalgia. If anybody on UA-cam deserves those donations, it is James. :)
I gotta ramble some more: CM and co appreciates and speaks for a piece of our culture, that is often missed, without the trolling phony nonsense that owns the rest. History of and in Media and I'm glad to see it of and from minds and men like myself.
That Sploder pfp! I used to play that a lot, my final game was made in 2019 so people had time to play it until flash ended. I got one of my games to be a contest winner.
Whats the Nerd room looking like now 2021?? James seem like a really chill and cool guy. I watch your videos on the drive to work I’ll just let any of the play. Probably watched this one 4-5 times full video.
The thing with our games (Here in /Poland) is that you could not make the difference if is game that you were playing is actually original. You know, like with the copied CDs so we didn't make these collections. These cartridges were sold with any box and with any instructions. We also didn't had any Nintendo magazine. It was just like you enter the store, look at the cartridge, and you should know it was made for you ;) I remember my mother bought me a cartridge it was so expensive it costs 1/2 of Nintendo. It was great. 10 in one it was commmon practic to put many games on one cartridge back then :) 99999999 in 1 1000 in 1 196 in 1 We only had another cheap copy made by .... but the power was shocking :)
And this is why physical copies are so much more satisfying than a digital collection.
Then I would cry and yeah you would still have backup files having them digitized but the feeling of being surrounded by all that is awesome.
Sure, but its expensive as shit ^^
@@gurvmlk relatable
I like how you had to rely on this digital version instead of the DVD to say it haha

If I'm not mistaken, Mike basically merged his retro collection with James' a couple years ago.
He did. Also James received a lot of donations from fans. But now James has it. It's his collection now. And his game room looks more 80's then anyone else's.
Should do an updated version
