I would recommend hearing the studio as well on your own time of course. It sounds like he might enjoy their post Iowa albums better. The first two albums were just rage and momentum where Vol 3 and forward they have a little more range let’s say in production and writing.
When introducing someone to a new band, ALWAYS use the studio version. Live versions are for established fans to appreciate the talent and expression of live shows. I say that even with bands like Led Zeppelin and Metallica. Studio is clean and audibly more pleasing as it's produced exactly as the band wants it heard. You can't get that live, especially through a secondary recording. Half the dynamic percussion and low end are gone. This type of recording does zero justice to the actual production of the song.

Nah, if they're not into the music it's not going to make a difference. Always use studio tracks to introduce a band. If they actually like the music then take them to a show. This type of listener isn't about the energy yet. He listens to like Rise Against and Green Day and calls it punk.
Personally I think the error is you did all live videos. Not 1 was studio and I think he would have different opinions hearing the album versions. Could be bias though. I don't like live videos. I like being live there for the show but I'd rather just hear studio versions otherwise
I'm sorry, but you pick the absolute worst songs to introduce him to a new band and unfamiliar genre. Plus the audio of these live recordings is trash. He can't discern any instruments or the multiple percussive points. He can't hear the lyrics or feel the punch of the drums. The mix on this is horrible. Show him studio versions videos. He's not able to separate the noise is what he's saying. I can't say this enough, these videos you're showing him are terrible. You know what it's supposed to sound like and have heard the studio cut. He hasn't. All he's hearing is a lot of noise with no direction.

Studio version is way better but the live video is fun to watch.
This album came out when I was a homeless 17yo. I definitely attached myself to this song. It was a battle cry.
