As a person who grew up in the nu metal movement in gonna also agree Korn and Slipknot aren't that much different. I'm not new ears either. Slipknot is definitely heavier or harder as you would say but they always end up on the same playlists for me. That says something about similarity
I had a different path to getting into metal. I was born in 82, so for me I listened to hair metal first. Poison, Motley Crew, bands like this. Then it shifted to Metalica as I got a little older, and by the time Korn came out I was a full blown metal head. I was also at that perfect age when Slipknot came out. Around 16. So their aggressive style appealed to my anger teen self 😆. My tastes really broaden after that and I found metal from all over the world that I was completely ignorant of. With all of the sub genres and fusions it helped me get into other genres completely. Now I have an extremely well rounded taste. I no longer believe that I don't like certain genres. It just means I haven't heard what I like from the genre yet. That kind of thinking helps to keep you open minded. 👍
You want audience participation? Babymetal - Road of Resistance Live in Japan (OFFICIAL). It's one of the best audience participations in music in a long time. Major bonus points if you guys don't know Babymetal yet, lol. Highly recommended. This was a fun reaction. First time watcher, new sub! Looking forward to watching more. Grew up on Punk & Metal. More of a metalhead in my older years now, but really like all kinds of music.

NOFX, Rancid, Pennywise, Descendants, Bad Brains, Black Flag and the UK hardcore scene (Discharge etc) - my band supported Charged GBH, UK Subs and lots more I discovered Slipknot early 2000s, absolutely love the aggression, lyricism, talent. Crossover metal/punk is the best. And please, this is nothing lile Korn! Give his Disasterpiece/People = Shit next live in London 2002!
I wouldn't put Slipknot into the "Nu" category. They to me, were a bit too heavy and extreme to placed into "Nu Metal" territory. Besides they lost the rap after that first album. Korn?? Not even close. Yuck.
I’d say start with the newer stuff, because the older stuff is absolutely amazing. But I think starting with more simple and less fast riffs might build into the “converting”
