One of my favorite Pearl Jam songs. And an incredible video. I love how Eddie Vedder’s voice, while singing about evolution, continues to devolve as the song progresses, becoming almost animalistic by the end. Absolutely brilliant. I disagree that this song doesn’t sound like any other Pearl Jam song. I would say you haven’t gone deep enough down the rabbit hole yet….
@@DastardlyHamster Too many to list, but the most obvious suggestion is the official UNCENSORED video of “Jeremy”. Award-winning, it’s as relevant today as it was when it came out in 1992. Something more raw would be their 1994 appearance on SNL, singing “Rearviewmirror”, or, one of their greatest versions of “Porch”, performed in 1992 on MTV’s Unplugged. You can’t go wrong with any of these, but you’re really just beginning to scratch the surface.
another thing its saying that eddie vedder its out of range. that its actually a very common thing he does.. you can see this live on a song called blood
@ Oh, I know. Blood is probably the most difficult song Eddie sings. And it was meant to be an angry, screamed song. On Do The Evolution, the effect is also absolutely deliberate. And brilliantly sung.
Great video! Very much liked the analysis as well. I'm a huge Pearl Jam fan and this is my favorite song of theirs. I think other songs that you will probably enjoy a lot If you're a punk fan are "Mind Your Manners", "Spin The Black Circle", "Habit" or "Grievance". You choose 😅
I liked all the pauses to examine certain aspects. This is a very cerebral song and so it requires a lot of focus. If I wanted to hear the song without interruption, there’s already a video for that.
That’s what I keep saying! I don’t understand people who just want to watch several minutes of silent nodding, and imo leaving the analysis to the end makes it a review, not a reaction. Plus I just don’t have a good enough memory for that. ~Mika
yeah the alternative for the swastikas is usually done not to get censored in countries like Germany where depicting the symbol is forbidden. The whole video would get banned.
I would say a lot of their songs don’t sound like a Pearl Jam song. They're versatile. There's people's perception of what they should sound like especially with their first album

You’re probably right that we should do more exploring in Pearl Jam land… suggestions welcome! ~Mika

Good catch @2:55. The video was co-directed by Todd McFarlane (of comic book fame) and Kevin Altieri, who directed Batman: The Animated Series.
Has Liam listened to "Spin the Black Circle"? I'm going to guess he'd be surprised.

Love your reaction! Love Pearl Jam! 🖤
Grievance is amazing! Like soo many song's! I love the versatility!
Great pic for a punk to listen to. Love this song, and the video is great. Spin the black circle should be next. Easy clinch for a win.

I like the live "on 2 legs" version of this song better vocally but the original still hits .. and the video is gold
90s Pearl Jam was a different level of music.
There's a book The Art of Do the Evolution
Maybe the carefree girl in the Halleluja part steps on a mine?
🖤

There are quite some songs by PJ than sound kinda punk like this indeed!
Eddie Vedder recorded a song with bad religion. Its called Watch it Die off of recipe for hate.
I like your vids but too many interruptions. Let the video play more
JEEZ, STOP INTERRUPTING SO MUCH!!!! I give up, can’t watch these two anymore
It's not your channel so stop projecting your views and get your own channel if you don't like the commentary
