The biggest key for me is to spread the salicylic acid cleanser around the cheeks, ears, and neck first before using my fingertips to spread a small amount to the forehead. Spreading the cleanser to the forehead too early will mean a huge amount of the cleanser is still on your hands and it will drip down to your eyes.
I have a rule for this now: I pretend I have my biggest pair of sunglasses on and only apply products on the area that would not be covered by the shades. 😎 saved my eyes from constant dryness and irritation.
Damn I wish I saw your video earlier! I just got a salicylic acid cleanser and I used it like how I use my cleansers normally by just applying it to my whole face. And then the skin around my eyes just became red and wrinkly, while also giving me some burning sensation to enjoy for the rest of that night.
I have dry sensitive reactive skin and purchased this cleanser hoping it would be a gentle exfoliating wash and remove blemishes - big mistake, it broke me out in a rash and my skin went extremely dry and crusty. Took a few days to recover. I have used salicylic cleansers from other brands, but they never made my skin react negatively.
@@DrDrayzday yup and i couldn't use my japanese product around my eyes because it was so irritated so i just use cetaphil moisturizer cream and cerave healing ointment around my face to trap the moisture and just went to bed with that
I use the cerave SA cleanser pretty much everyday or every second day around the eyes no problems. It helps with the those little bumps I get under the eye.
I stopped using SA washes on my face because it’s really so hard to avoid the eyes, especially at night when you are trying to remove the eye makeup remover and any residue of products you may still have on your eyelids. I guess to use up what I have I could use in the morning when I wash my face in the shower and there’s no products on my kids that I need to remove, for oil build up from the night I guess just water will do.
So true😅 It' s the nose alæ' s creases and around the lips for me👃🏻👄. If it runs into these areas, no woman no cry, no treti tonight. Aquaphor to the rescue to avoid waking up irritated. 🧛🏻♀️🖤
Yes.The first time I used this cleanser, I guess I went a little too close to my under eyes. A couple of hours later the skin around my under eyes was flaky, itchy and red. It took a couple of weeks to heal. I personally don't use this cleanser every day as I feel my skin dry after using it and I need to put moisturiser immediately after, otherwise it is uncomfortable. Oddly enough the SA cleanser didn't cause me trouble.🤷♀️
That's the culprit then! Thank you! I got the Aveeno baby eczema therapy nighttime balm and I have triamcinolone acetone cream usp, 0.025%. I put that on first and then the ointment, helped a lot!
Can it cause the eyes to be puffy too? Have been having off/on issues for a few months now with waking up with puffy eyelids and redness/irritation around my nose. When the initial irritation goes down it leaves flaking and dryness in those areas that takes forever to heal. I’ve been assuming it’s from allergies.. but now not so sure after seeing this video 😬. I never really had super sensitive skin, but have since switched to sensitive skin products.. however will occasionally still use a SA cleanser like that. I have an appt scheduled with an Allergist at the end of July.. but now thinking maybe I should book with a Derm as well. It’s frustrating. 😭
I use this face wash in the morning after using a tazarotene the night before. I’m peeling like crazy and don’t know when it’ll stop. Is this face wash too strong to be used after a prescription strength acne medication?
If you just started tazarotene then I would stick to gentle cleansers and good moisturizers while your skin acclimates. Its probably too much to have both everyday
I was wondering if we can use face washes with actives in them and put retinol on the face afterwards. Isn't too drying for the skin? Specially sensitive skin?
Don’t forget to test it first. I’m highly allergic to salicylic acid and get a total face resurfacing along with wheezing if I use it. There are so many people that react to it I’m not certain why it’s never mentioned. Anyone who suffers from AERD or Samters trade should stay away from it completely.
maybe this is a dumb question, but what if I wear eye makeup? I double cleanse but if i can't use my facewash how do I wash it (makeup + oil cleanser) off my eyes?
This is very interesting as I've got dry eye disease, but I also have sebhorreic dermatitis on my forehead and salicylic acid cleanser is the only thing that controls it! However my dry eye has gone out of control over the past year. I'm wondering if this is why. But I need to use salicylic acid cleanser as I have combination oily skin on my face. What else do you recommend trying Dr Dray?
Hey Dr dray big fan of your channel. Can you review Hero Cosmetic's Clear collective line please♥. I was looking at the ingredient list and it surprised me that no one is talking about how good it is
I have psoriasis and i use dercos anti psoriasis Solution hair shampoo for face and hair and i have no problem with eyes, i usualy wish my hair 3 times when i bathe and i leave the third lathering to sit on my face and hair fot 10 minutes to let my skin Absorb the 2% salicylic acid absorb and after that i put cosrx Blackhead power liquid on my face but not around the eyes and i found that the edges of my lips do get sensitive if i use little bit more of the product, but i tolerate it wery well compared to other people cuz i wash my face 3 times a day with the same hair shampoo
Dr Dray, can I use Winlevi cream on jawline of my face, Paula’s Choice salicylic acid on my nose and dapsone on my chin. Some areas of my face need diff things. I use tret on entire face and Winlevi cream (same as an jaw line) pm?
You could double cleanse. Starting with a cleansing balm or cleansing oil to remove all makup, and then go in with your facial wash product. The cleansing balm / oil should also create a slight film on the 6 would then protect the eye area from drying out from the face wash product.
I have combination skin and use blemish control cleanser by cerave daily, never experienced dryness! I guess it’s because my skin isn’t so sensitive? I can use it and follow up with retinol and still nlt see any irritation!

My salicylic acid facewash dries me out, what do it do. I heard a facewash that dries u out is prolly too harsh for u. Or shud I just continue using it.
Cera ve isn’t cruelty free. I don’t understand why some companies are cruelty free and others aren’t. If some skincare lines and makeup lines can do it they all can. It is so TERRIBLE the experiments they put these poor animals through. If we all stop buying these products that test on animals, they would have to become cruelty free or go out of business!!
I dont think this is the case for everyone though, i fortunately dont have this issue at all. So everyone keep in mind this isnt the case for everyone. 😊
I want to implement a SA cleanser back into my routine but I've been using the cerave moisturizing cleanser due to the SA cleanser being sold out for so long.. how could I alternate the 2?
I bought some and used it twice a day and either my skin started to purge or break out.... I stopped it a few days later, and it took a week for my skin to calm down. Am I having a reaction to it or is it purging?
It could be purging since salicylic acid exfoliates your pores but twice a day is probably too much. If youre just starting try every other day first then daily if your skin tolerates it
you can use both but no need to use booth at the same time every day. i use a salicylic acid cleanser everyday and because of that i use my salicylic serum twice or 3 times a week.

Thanks! It is one necklace. You can get it on Amazon amzn.to/3oNVslW
Would it be better to make it foam between your hands, rub it on avoiding eyes then remove with a wrung out washcloth before final rinse.
Honestly have never had this issue around my eyes with any SA cleanser. Guess I’m just lucky?

Good to know! I’ll stick with the cetaphil one. That gentle clear SA cleanser has been great!!
the cream to foam has SA in it but is way way way more gentle and non stripping!
It's probably the percentage. Is the Cetaphil a lower one?
What is the best way to get rid of milia around the eyelid and under eye area? For dry sensitive skin?

Does this also apply to benzoyl peroxide face washes?
I use the Cerave Foaming face wash or the Cerave oil face wash. I almost bought that. Thanks for the info !
That's why I prefer to use a specific cream that allows me to spot treat precisely those areas of my face I need to cover.

Are we not supposed to wash around our eyes? Or are we supposed to use another cleanser around our eyes? How do we keep that area clean?
Use a regular cleanser around the eyes. A salicylic acid cleanser should not be your main cleanser.
This is why i dont use cleansers with active ingredients. I will just use my active ingredients in treatment forms
Nice idea!
can i use a salicylic acid cleanser with the 30 day miracle some by mi aha,bha and pha toner?
