It's absurd, right? So little bow. So (seemingly) little effort. Such total efficiency. And she sounds more powerful, to my ears, than anyone ever recorded other than Kreisler. Those two, and then the rest of them. Even Heifetz's famous Brahms recording is a very small step below.
Truly magnificent performance of the Brahms concerto. Hilary Hahns virtuoso violin playing is simply a joy to watch . She just seems to get better and better!
I wish Johannes Brahms was still alive listening to Hillary play this live. One of the greatest violin concertos of all time. It has it all, passion, emotion, intrigue, power and consummate beauty. Hillary excels, yet again. Timeless. I cry when I hear it as it has so much emotion. Chapeau Hillary.
It feels like her interpretation has changed as she's gotten older. This is more aggressive, passionate, than her younger self, which was more cold, virtuoso-like performance.
This is the best interpretation I have heard of Brahms Violin Concerto, and the one that has moved me the most! From the finest nuances to the crescendos Hilary is fantastic in her violin playing, for example in the cadenza in the first movement. And the conductor and the ocherstra follows her as if this was made in heaven.
Oh my goodness, what an amazing display of the meaning of exquisite. The music & how it is expressed by Hillary & the orchestra under Maestro Noseda between 9 & 10 mins. culminates, without fail, in tears welling up in my eyes. Hilary is truly an incredible gift not only as a musician but also as a beautiful person. 💖
This is the first piece of music that I really "got" back in the long lost days of my youth and I never tire of it. Hilary Hahn just gets better and better and hopefully one day i will see a live performance of hers. Many thanks for this.
bruh, this is even better than her performance with esa peka salonen, wowww. this one has more emotional impact & of course no one can match her technique.
Between 9 & 10 in the first movement MOVES me to tears every time. Also, I adore the way Hilary, at one point, almost seems to waltz a little across the stage. OMG, This is sublime stuff. Hilary, in every way you are something to behold.❤
Hilary is an Alchemist of Brahms, and the violin. Hilary‘s performance is far superior splendor, and off the charts. These great performers and this conductor are the Alchemists of Brahms‘ music, and their performances are beyond description, and unfathomable
I just can’t imagine more tone. Or concern for each note. It’s just so astonishing. How is this accomplished? It’s simply genius and effort and understanding beyond compare. Oh, Queen Hilary. ….
Unbelievably beautiful playing, and almost total accuracy, though that is always granted with Hilary. But there's something new here. Even more passion, even more rich fruit! That combination assures you of an engaged listen to this dynamic and wistfully passionate take by HH, at her best and getting better as each year passes. What a STUNNING performance.
Was there (next night)! NSO and Hahn were magnificent, marvelous. Might be the one concerto that brings out Hahn's strengths the most - power, precision, and tenderness.
It is good for us Europeans to notice that you have some culture "over there" too! Notice, this is a joke. And I envy all of you listening to Hilary live.
Quel bonheur Hilary Hahn nous procure avec ce jeu d'une perfection presque extraterrestre. Perfection sensible, celle qui touche et émeut le cœur… Merci mille fois pour ce magnifique concert, très bien filmé et enregistré.
Never Disappoints!! It’s so incredible how Hilary phrases this piece and expresses the emotions more and more every time she plays it. The double stop at 21:05 was so powerful! Bravo Hilary! 👏🏻🎶👏🏻
I prefer Guila Bustabo Viktor Tretjakov Jascha Heifetz Itzhak Perlman Leonid Kogan David Oistrakh Henrik Szeryng!! Hilary Hahn never played in the big violin competitions! Ann Sophie Mutter never played in the big violin competitions and the reason is no prizes for Mutter! Mutter is so restless and out of rhythmic balance all the time! Sarah Chang never played in the big violin competitions and the reason is no prizes for Chang! Chang has thin colorless dry cold violin sound like Black and White tv picture!
We all can hear that Hilary since some time has left the strive for a "perfect" sound and now is on an unknown road to something new. Personally I welcome her new ambition to challenge the limits, it gives a new artistic freedom for her, and for us listeners, I can only speak for myself, a more emotional impact. I myself often have tears in my eyes, listening to the "new" Hilary. (Brahms, Sibelius). So what is music, and what is it supposed to be? Something perfect or something emotional? I myself think that my feelings listening to music is my guide, and not the small eventually faults existing. And my feelings for Hilarys music is increasing, and for the better, I dont find any faults in it either, just a warm, passionate flow of music with a new force and determination to get the most out of it.
For me, Hahn's music journey has been amazing to watch. From a child prodigy to classical music superstar in her 20s and 30s to now actually entering her prime as a musician. She's been around so long that you wouldn't realize she's only a few years older than Augustine Hadelich. Also, her personality really shines appearing on Twoset violin.
@@seantzeng1849 You are probably right, Sean, about the Twoset violin. But I never look at it at all, I dont want to be attached to it, loosing my critical skills, and just thinking everything Hilary does is heaven. And by the way, I have never listened to the for me unknown Augustine Hadelich.

Hilary extraordinario y sublime Nunca te había visto y oído ejecutar de esta manera. Te sigo desde siempre y eres la mejor a nivel mundial, y no me equivoco. Gracias por tu música, yo te amo. Además se ve eres un gran ser humano
Danny Boy, why do you have written that Pinchas Zukerman is the violinist on this video recording? He looks much better than Ms. ;Hahn in a formal dress!
David Oistrakh, Pinchas Zukerman, Itzhak Perlman, Isaac Stern are some of the excellent Jewish Jehovah Violinist among the Judeo Christian Western European American Israel alignment... Brahms the legendary giant German Romantic Orthodox Protestant Christian on German Requiem or Nanie best excellent 👍 interpretation by the Berlin Philharmonic orchestra under Karajan and Abbado. God 🙏 is awesome infinitely higher than the classical music repertoire.
I swear she moves her bow like 2 millimeters and can project over an entire orchestra lol.. what a bright and penetrating contact point… 👍👍

100% agree
@@dannyboy2267 With this new interpretation of love to hear her perform Shostakovich Violin Concerto no. 1 again. I think it'd be close to perfect.
I also stand with Ucraine. Their music, their culture, their authors. Their fight against oppression.
I don't think she's ever been cold. Definitely reserved but she's always been very musically expressive in her phrasing.
Хилари НИКОГДА не была холодна в интерпретации!!!

Hahn has jumped to a new level in the last couple years. Passion, courageousness - she' becoming one of the greats.

You can tell she plays with more passion every time she plays this
Amazing!👍👍👍This is one of my favourite interpretations of this concerto! My favourite part was the beginning, which was very articulate and clean!

She makes everything look so easy
Yes, and making it look easy is the hardest way to travel.

Agreed....
Hilary is developing her playing all the time. As a listener it is a lovely path to follow...

It is also lovely to follow Hilarys moves on stage. And yes, music is a sort of ballet.

Now that you have mentioned it, I really want to see a video of Zukerman playing Brahms!
Thanks a lot!!
20:58 this!!!! Omg
Which night was this a recording of?

For some reason, you're showing the artist in the details section as Pinchas Zukermann.
No, that's the copyright claiming that it's Zukerman's recording, not me.
