    I wish I'd seen this a year ago! Got caught out by the ABS difference when I replaced my 08. As far as I can work out the only reason is to clear the ABS module with the rear tyre.

    I believe the 03N, 04 swingarm apart from the mounting holes difference, is also slightly longer than the 03S.

      That's what I'd read too, about 15mm difference.

    Now that's all cool and all. I'm interested in whether GSXR swingarms can be fitted to any SVs. Again I don't think my 2nd gen SV1000S needs an under braced swingarm but it would look lovely...

      Ive personally never done it. Ive seen svrider.com posts with it. But seems like an unnecessary mod.
      Also, keep in mind if the 650 can take it, the sv1000 is different so might not.

      @@Mad8vCycles honestly I can't be bothered tackling some of the more plausible mods (front end swap for example) my bike handles good enough for the road although I am eying up a radial brake master cylinder...

    Hello mate. Are the S & SA Gen2 swingarms interchangeable? ie. Is the frame on a SV650S able to take the longer SA abs model swingarm?

  • @SexyKnight01

    How much less does the 2nd Gen weigh compared to the ABS model?

  • @BB..........

    Is the '03 S swingarm the same length as the other 1000 'arms? I thought the later ones were about 15mm longer, but they all look the same here.

      Same length just different spacing on the chain guard

    Does the SV1000 handle well like the 650?

    • @Mad8vCycles
      @Mad8vCycles  5 місяців тому

      A little worse because of the weight and a little touchier because of the throttle. So a bit worse in the twisties. But way better on highway.

  • @braverabbit

    Wow, that's 4 lbs difference. Is the 2g abs swing arms interchangeable with the 3gen

    • @Mad8vCycles
      @Mad8vCycles  2 роки тому +2

      no. the 2g has a wider pivot and the linkage mount point is a little different as well

    • @braverabbit
      @braverabbit 2 роки тому +1

      @@Mad8vCycles That was interesting. Its hard to understand why Suzuki went this route, frame, sub frame, and swingarm all weigh more than previous gen, 25+ lbs total I'm told.
      The v twin is already a heaver design, if they would reduce weight both internal and external weight the sv would be competitive with the inline twins such as the MT 07 which weigh much less.

    • @Mad8vCycles
      @Mad8vCycles  2 роки тому +1

      @@braverabbit i would bet that they wanted to stick to a price point (svs have pretty much always been $7-8k new) while dealing with increased manufacturing and materials costs?
