Roger once gave an impromptu performance at someone's wedding I think in NJ because he happened to be staying at the same hotel. He just got down and partied with everyone.
My dad told me roger daltrey is one of the best singers for The Who . When he saw him in Ames Iowa he said wow roger daltrey has not aged one bite . But now he’s making his life stronger and keeping his promise for kids and families all over the world . Pete Townsend has a great heart for people who believe in him and roger . As long as roger and Pete keep their health and strength they’ll always be friends and family of The Who thanks to Keith and John .
Well I just seen them for the 4th time a couple of weeks ago and I think it was probaly the best. was fortunate enough to see them in 96 and 2002 when the Ox was still kicking about. An as for Zak well uncle keith looks to have bee a great musical influence
Great story. Love it when good people give so much back. My hat off to you Roger Daltrey. Music brings people together. And in this time in all of our lives we need music. It soothes the soul.
Roger Daltrey is awesome, he is an awesome musician and actor. He is awesome being a member and the lead singer of the awesome rock band The Who. I loved his recurring role as the immortal Hugh Fitzcairn in the awesome 1990s sci-fi fantasy TV series "Highlander" (1992-1998).
I lived with grandparents who repeatedly said 'Young people don't get cancer!', and my mum lost several close friends at criminally young ages to cancer, so I knew it wasn't true. What Roger and The Who have been doing for teenaged cancer sufferers is absolutely wonderful, and so sorely needed. True Rock Legends!
I adore Roger. I got to see him at his Ryman Auditorium concert in Nashville, his first time there, my first concert. He's 75, face looks 20 years younger at least, and body looks even younger than that!! The only thing that irks me is they don't go into detail about how Keith died. He was actually CLEAN of drugs and alcohol, had even spoken to Pete on the phone the day before about the old band getting back together. What happened was, he was on Heminevrin, the British version of Anahol, which keeps you from drinking. But his whole life, even with aspirin, he never took one or two pills, he took a handful. Without thinking, he took a handful of Heminevrin and overdosed. Tragic accident. He was only in his 30's. Zak Starkey, Ringo Starr's son, now plays drums for them. He was drummer at the concert I attended. He was taught by both Ringo and Keith, and does a fair job imitating Keith's drumming style. It's just amazing. One question I'd love to ask Roger, how did he come up with the trademark mic swinging? That's just fantastic and fun to watch!!
Roger is a real sweetheart! I’ve had the pleasure of meeting him twice! He’s very warm, friendly and down to earth. And the mic swinging? Boredom! That’s how that started...
I saw an interview on the mic swinging. He said that the other fellas all had something that stood out, Pete's guitar smashing, of course Keith and John always dressed very flashy. So, he just came up with it on a whim. But I also heard him say that in the early days, guys in the crowd would throw things at them and being a bit of a bruiser when he was younger, he tried knocking them out with the mic. So it stuck. Probably a combination of both those things I think.
Joseph Buckley. Oh c'mon! The Who were NOT considered "the first rebel band" by ' Her Satanic Majesty' or anybody else! Just check your history books & news cuttings!!
I saw The Who for the 1st time on holiday In Gt.Yarmouth in 1965.Sheer loud aggressive magic! Then saw them in a small club in Nottigham doing My Generation which confirmed their genius! A mind boggling group. So original.

When does the powers that be in this country of ours going to give Roger and Pete a knighthood for the great things they have done for years and years for charity and not just their Teenage Cancer Trust but others as well they deserve a lot of praise and credit for their humanity care.
I would love to meet Roger and Pete, too. Roger has said that "Behind Blue Eyes" is his favorite Who song, and I 'd like to tell him how much that song meant to me, because I was the guy in that song when I was in school - treated like an outcast. When I heard and comprehended the lyrics to "Behind Blue Eyes" years ago (the 70s and 80s), I thought, wow, Daltrey and Townsend understand me! What I didn't understand about myself at the time was that I have ASD, which explains a lot of my interpersonal problems then.
It all started, the charity, with the WHO, when Pete sent Keith to do an interview. Keith thought he might get laid. The woman, I forget her name, had opened one of the, if the the, first battered womans shelter in the UK. Keith had hit his own wife when he though she was unfaithful. When Keith got back, Pete said he was crying, saying we have to help.
I cannot believe how Daltrey’s voice never got weak, never wore out, and I have no idea why it didn’t, unless he had an incredible vocal mechanism naturally….after all of that screaming over Entwistle’s roaring bass, it boggles the mind! Robert Plant had such an amazing voice, too, but he didn’t know what he was doing and blew his vocal cords in the 70s, his voice never recovered, and the same thing actually happens to young opera singers, or those who try a heavier role than their voice can support. Having studied classical vocal production, I know this happens, and I’m just in AWE of Daltry’s voice!
I was born in '72 and become a lover of Classic Rock and a short time later, Glam Rock. The Who was my first love and every time I hear Baba O'reilly it is just like the first. As great as Led Zep, the Stones and Floyd were The Who is the best in my opinion. Its tough, but his time on earth is coming to a close, as are many classic rockers. Even my Jersey Boy Bruce is in the latter years. Its a damn shame that the industry has not seen as good of artists as those in the late 60s and 70s. The past 25 years for the music industry have been an absolute abortion.
I so wish we knew then what we had to learn the hard way. A young man who would go to his car and sleep during his shift. He had been so tired since his teens but just thought of as a growing young kid. Leukemia took this young man before his 21st birthday. I have been diligent with my sons' physicals and just held my 17yr old son's hand once again for that blood draw. It's so easy to think something as horrible as Childhood Cancers can't happen in your family until it does.
Ha, it didn't start with me. They really did get a lot of their energy from Moon. I may have overstated it but he really did make the difference. @@brainsareus

Which era of each band? The Hamburg-era Beatles were leather-clad preludan-fueled punks with a wild stage show. The stadium-era Beatles were already losing interest in live performance and focusing more and more on pushing the boundaries of songwriting and using the studio to create more sophisticated recordings that couldn't be reproduced live.
In all the times I'd seen the TV series "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," I was never aware that the theme song "Who Are You" was written by Pete Townshend
