Never could understand how Entwistle could just stand there like a statue playing some of the greatest bass of all time and have a swinging microphone 6 feet away.
Not only was Roger's deadly accuracy enough to send them slinking off, but the sound of a live mike hitting someone in the face must have been a shock.
I wish that I watch more of these. I never envisioned a time I would be watching videos of Brian interviewing other musicians but my god, I am glad they exist.
If you didn't know Brian was thr singe of one of the biggest rock bands in history, you'd think he was just a kind bloke with an incredible sense for fashion, automobiles, and women, whom they let have a t.v. show.
And I think he was in his early thirties when he joined - practically ancient for a frontman just starting out (albeit having been in a band before AC/DC)
@@creamwobbly The way they got the name of the band had nothing to do with what you are insinuating. They saw "AC/DC" on a label on an old sewing machine and it sounded like a good name for a bad...they were right. That's it...no secret sexual acronym, no devil worshipping acronym, nothing more than it sounding like a cool name.
Roger stays forever young. He's been the frontman of one of the greatest bands ever, they already played Monterey, Woodstock, Isle of Wight in the wild sixties. Their albums Tommy and Who's Next are epic legendary works of 20th century music. They wrote the book of sex, drugs & rock 'n roll... And here he is, all those years later, still healthy looking, full of energy, not an old man at all.How does he do that ? I mean, take for example Jagger, his face looks like an unmade bed... Keith Richards looks like he's 120... But Daltrey is still going strong. It's truly amazing.
I see what ya mean but with Daltrey theres another element, and that is he stayed fit. The Who def did their share but it was really Moon and Entwistle that did the whole party! Townsend said he had quit using drugs i think before the hey day of the 70s even began and from I gather Daltrey only dabbled but was known to drink a lil more than drug until he got his under control. Take away the rockstar idea and Roger Daltrey simply has taken care of his body and hell dude was ripped in the 70s so im sure while everyone was picking up drink and drugs, Roger Daltrey was somewhere lifting weight and doin excercise. No mystery really why he looks better than Jagger/Richards.
Roger was clean, never went down the whole "drug" rabbit hole. He couldn't smoke anything because of his voice and really didn't like to drink. When I saw him a few years back, he was in his early 70's and did a 2 hour and 45 minute show!!
From what I've heard, most of his excesses were those of personality rather than consumption... They're a lot easier to grow out of, and don't take nearly the same toll.
You forgot Quadrophenia. I would argue that it spoke to more people than any of their records, as great as they all are. Quadropehnia can instantly take people back to the discomfort of their teenage years. It does it fo me and my teenage years are long gone.

Roger paid his dues big time with The Who. All those clubs & small venues to start, quite the grind. He became a natural on the big arena & festival stage!

That was just an f'ing awesome story! I'd have LOVED to have been there to see that!! I'm 43, too young to have seen The Who with Keith Moon, but I've have seen The Who twice in my life - in 1996 For their Quadrophenia tour, and in 2000 for the From The Bush To The World tour, their last with John Entwistle. I have excellent memories. They are truly the world's greatest rock n roll band, no offense to the Rolling Stones who I still love too!! Just watching Roger in action with that microphone while Pete windmill's till he's bleeding is epic!
I was thinking “Daltrey must be passed it these days at his age” then I heard the album he did with Wilko Johnson a couple of years ago, and was utterly blown away - they have both still got it.
A lot of "youngins" are doing reaction videos to the Who (and ACDC) once question that always comes up is, "has he (Roger) ever hit anybody with the mic?" I think about this video, and want to say, "why yes", but I didn't know where this video was from. I am glad I found it again.
Roger Daltry is one of the most down to earth, genuine 'celebrities' I have seen. Like this interview shows, he don't take no sh1t, and he's all the better for it. Thankfully, like Brian, he is not one of the 'woke' culture, either....he has no time for pretentious twats. He is also one of the funniest guys, with an infectious laugh.
