Roger Daltrey is genuinely a super nice person. He recently came back to Cincinnati to pay tribute to those killed at the concert in 1979. Thanks Roger.
Did Pete go to Cindy?
Cincy !!!!
@@patm5086 Yes it was a WHO concert
I was at that show in 1979. We didn't know anything happened until we were on the way home. Heard it on the radio news. We stayed out in the car until most people went in the concert. We were doing concert 😁 prep.
Back in the 80's, a friend and I rode our bikes across San Francisco, crossed the GGB, and down into Sausalito. A couple more miles and we were at Sausalito Cyclery. We went in and Sammy was working the counter folding clothes. He was part owner and an avid mtn. biker. We said hi and he wanted to know everything about us; where we're from, where we ride, telling us his secret places to ride. He was the nicest, most unpretentious guy.
Sammy and Roger are two of the best front men in the history of Rock. Complete legends. Amazing gentlemen.
There was a backstage dressing room video, with Robert Plant chatting with Roger Daltrey, and reminiscing about the old day,s and the video was later pulled. I think I saw it 5-6 years ago.
I don't even think either one is top ten
@@billherman7294 Roger is top 10 for me. Bruce Springsteen is not.
@@HardRockMaster7577 Bruce Springsteen is but Sammy Hagar is not
@@billherman7294
Your opinion.
The two most down to earth, humble, likeable rock stars in the same room together...priceless!!
Oh, your name is ironic!!!
Daltrey & Townshend together for 55 years..That’s great! The Who one of the best rock ‘n’ roll bands there ever was.💯
Roger Daltrey is an absolute legend !
I saw them at the Cow Palace in 73 when Keith passed out twice during the show and a kid from the audience played the drums for a few songs!..AND..an unknown band opened up named lynyrd skynryd!.
Are you telling the truth?
@@jamesmcnaughton5092 I got 7k witnesses!
@@mrabrasive51 if you said 7,500 I would have believed you 😆
......and Townshend said " they're really rather good, aren't they '.
Wow! Did he really say that they both played a festival lineup of The Who, Montrose, Humble Pie, Lou Reed, and one of Bad Company's earliest appearances? What a bill!
Yep. Also Lindisfarne and Maggie Bell. Sammy said it was '73, but it was in May 1974.
🎶 ... sweet Jane 🎸
Crazy. Nothing like that anymore.
I was there, but as it has been pointed out, it was 1974.Happy days!
How in the world is Roger Daltrey 78 years old?! He looks fantastic.
Great genes..
Clean living.
He's always exercised my dad is 80 looks the same and never stopped exercising
Should be pointed out that this is a 4 year old interview, but still looks quite good for 74.
@@Fordham1969 Quite ? very good surely
The Who with Keith Moon were Epic
Roger was always one of the coolest guys in rock. Always one of my heroes.
Roger just turned 78 in March & Sammy will be 75 in October, wow these guys just keep rockin with age - PEACE LOVE n HIPPYNESS ✌❤☮
Sammy looks like he's in his 50s!!
Roger sure as Hell doesn't look close to 80!!
@@motorcitymanman7711 I know man, I'm jealous because I am 55 & look like I cant drive 55
Roger and Sammy. Two class acts.
@@motorcitymanman7711 You must be high, Sammy look's his old ass age 77
Daltrey. Was a total bad ass. When he was younger..great fighter I heard.
Their last album “WHO” is actually damn good.
Its kind of sad but kids today, hell kids for the past 15 years, will never know or understand the true meaning or power of what it was to be a Rock Star. That phrase is bandied about all of the time now but it hasnt had any real power or resonance in a long long time. Roger Daltrey WAS a bona fide Rock Star and you really had to be around at that time to understand how magical and meaningful it was.
My very first concert in 1975 at Day on the Green in Oakland, CA. The Greatful Dead opened for The Who. It was a magical first. I even fainted in line from the heat and weed. ✌️
Its alot of work, said nick of stpnwolf, days to get it right then show time
Everybody wants to be a "ROCK STAR" these days. Whether it is RAP or ROCK, no one wants to put in the WORK anymore. IF everyone is a "ROCK STAR" then NO ONE is a "ROCK STAR"...
one of the iconic frontmen of all time...
Roger and Pete give tons of charity work, and have done tours for that purpose. Good on them.
Dude,Sammy is incredible at this . He really has a knack for this interviewing and hosting thing.
Yes, he does.....Brian Johnson of AC/DC also has a show like this called "A Life On The Road"....he is also very good!
He should have his own podcast. It should be titled interviews with the red rocker.
@@kdm71291 Brian show is also very good we'll both him and Sammy have nice guys friendly. They never got too caught up in the whole I'm a big star kind of thing
He interrupts a bit too much. He is oozing personality, though. And obviously has the respect of the artists he interviews. He wants to tell his stories, and when interviewing, you have to be good at sitting there and just listening. But, as just a conversationalist, he's great. He has so much knowledge and experience, you'd want him to tell a story. But, as an interviewer? I don't think he can just sit there and listen. You can tell he wants to always say something, before a person finishes.
"It's the singer not the song that makes the music move along" thanks Roger always a classy dude and cheers for your charity work 👍
He's not classy about marijuana 🙄 he's a prick about it😤💨🙄
"JOIN TOGETHER" my fav WHO tune......they should have made a video with THE WHO marching down the strret with hundreds of people following them!
That´s BS, a typical singer´s view. Cause what´s the beginning of it all? It´s not the singer, it´s the song.
@@anonymusum
A "singer" didn't write the song genius, the Lead Guitarist Pete Townshend did.
Yes he sings but he's not the Lead Vocalist.
@@anonymusum
It's not about the "beginning" the line says "makes the music move along" which it does.
Roger, thank you , Pete and Jon for lifting the spirits of a heartbroken America with your performance at The Concert for NY right after 9/11.
Two of the most well preserved Rock Stars alive today! Legends...
I really wish Sammy had asked Roger about all the greats of the sixties, because, cmon, the man is a source of HISTORY. He met all the greats. TALK MUSIC!
I met Roger at Tanglewood in 1969 a few hours before the Who played and he couldn't have been nicer. My friends and I chatted with him for about ten minutes. Top bloke all the way !
What treat to have seen this episode of Sammy interviewing Roger Daultry. The awesome singer of The Who. I could tell Sammy was smitten and so happy with this opportunity. It made me smile and I’m happy for him and Roger is a class act. He should be knighted like Paul McCartney in my opinion. You Better You Bet.
Hearing Sammy sing Won’t get fooled again with Van Halen was life changing awesome. So cool to see the two sitting together, chatting. Must have been a real moment for Sammy!
Two of my favorite rock icons... !! 🤘🤘
2 of my favorite singers. Saw Sammy in February & hope to see Roger & Pete in November.
Saw The Who 5 times. First in Cincinnati in 79.....and just recently AGAIN in Cincinnati. AWESOME show, with a great set list.
Badass interview Sammy!
Roger Daltrey was the very first `Rock Star` in my book. Great fun interview, Thanks Sammy!!
What about Elvis???
Elvis would be the `Rock and Roll` star
It's hard to believe these guys are in their seventies.
These are the kinds of guys I could sit down and have a beer with because they're down to earth like myself
Sammy jumpin' up and down on the couch, a Rock God smitten with another Rock God. Love this. Love to see these historic men sooo down to earth. Glad I've bought their stuff, money well spent given to men who earned every bit of it.
Sammy is such a natural professional
What a great personality … perfect for this show ..
Roger is still sooo handsome! He’s a class act, as well!
78 an 74 years old! Crazy.
Last time we saw the Who was on the 40th Anniversary QUADROPHENIA Tour, Roger nailed every note!
Only time I did was the same tour in Boston MA
I'm hooked on this show Sammy's doing! This one was great! Keep em coming!
2 of the Best vocalists in Rock!!
Bummer no jam session with Roger. Rock on Sammy.
whenever I think about rock & roll being emotional, I think of The Who. Roger is a great front man.
Roger is a great studio singer and the greatest frontman alive. Roger one of the few greats that doesn't act like a woman on stage or wear little girls shirts. Rog acts like a man. Sammy acts like a man.
Sammy just makes everybody feel comfortable... He really is good at this!
Two legends, would be amazing to see Sammy and Roger on stage together, Roger's book Thanks a lot Mr. Kibblewhite is a great read, about driving well, I miss the open roads in Canada and USA but driving to coast in Yorkshire is one most beautiful drives I driven ,
Interview with a living legend by a living legend!
I could listen to these guys shoot the shvt for hours!
I was never into The Who that much. I was more of a Zeppelin guy. But Pete’s stage presence was undeniable. As far a Sammy, there’s NONE better.
Two of the Greatest Singers 🎶🎶🎤🎤🎤🎤
Two great guys.
You guys are my generation, and i really love seeing an interview with Roger, " Who" is a legend !
Love love The Who. Thanks Sammy for this wonderful interview. Cool 😎 car.
Great to see and hear two great succesful rock singers chatting together.
Professionals like this will be hard to find in our current music scene, what talent, what humility, what professionalism
Man, Roger looks great for his age. 👍
2 of the greatest singers and gentlemen ever! Great show!
Wow! Two of my favorite frontmen. Sammy and Roger together! I could never decide who I liked better.
Wow. Iove roger! Hes the man! Always my favorite!
Wow just posted Roger today on instagram the song FREE ME always been a favorite of mine.
4:41 ‘has anyone ever thought you were Sammy Hagar?’ 😂😂😂 Sammy, you’re so funny man. Love ya! from a London fan ⭐️
The Who have been my favorite band since I saw them on The Smothers Brothers Show in 1968. So cool to see Roger and Pete still going strong all these years later. Still miss John and Keith. Hope you guys keep rockin' for many more years.
two legends wow.
Sammy does a great job paying homage, being respectful and still even though he's the Red Rocker - he, like us , is a fan
I was 14 when I saw Montrose in City Park Stadium in New Orleans. It was my first concert. Trapeze, Montrose, J Geils Band, Black Oak Arkansas and I can't remember who else but that was an experience for real for a 14 year old lol. I saw things let's just leave it at that.
super fun
Roger's version of "Don't let the sun go down on me" is epic! It was on the soundtrack of "The Lost Boys" movie. Gives me chills to this day!
Did you hear the duet by Elton John and Michael Jackson, Don't Let Your Son Go Down On Me?
This is, surprisingly, one of my favorite interviews. I didn't want it to end. I was hoping you guys were gonna go shoot pool or something and keep talking. What a cool hang that would be!
Daltrey is one of the top five front men of all time. Many have stolen his moves and style and The Who was an amazing band with a lead musician at every position . But it is long overdue for Roger & Pete to hang it up as ( No Moon and No Entwistle ) half the magic gone.
RD is an absolute LEGEND!
Holy crap.....what a show that must have been in '73!
Great one!
Roger was the prototype
They were like twins when they were young, same hair, same charisma, love these two, could listen to them speak for hours, sigh! Didn't know I needed this !
Love Sammy!
I enjoy this show with the cool interviews.
Roger Daltrey still a stud.
Roger's super fit because he's got superior genes...excellent interview.
Daltery is still great !!
Great interview, but .... it needed to be much longer. Yes, Roger is a legend. So do another interview with Roger, call it, "Part two" if you must.
maybe Roger doesn't want to talk longer?
I agree...I would love to hear what Roger would have to say about the '73 Cow Palace show.
What a pair of Cool Dudes
Two Legends
I envy how great these guys get around for their age.
I saw The Who back in the day at Atwood Stadium in Flint Michigan. The night Keith Moon drove the car into pool at Holiday Inn. The Blues Magoos opened..then the Who..then the headliner Hermins Hermits!!!! All for under 10 bucks!
Love this! What a warm and honest conversation!!! ;)
How I love Roger Daultrey! A true legend!
Happy 80th Birthday Roger
That legendary primal scream of Roger's set me free as a kid.
Thank you Sammy. I absolutely love your Road Trip serious. Daltry is pretty amazing for an older dude.
Mama's got ah squeeze box Daddy never sleeps at night 😁
I love this! Two of my favorite rockers!
Awesome conversation! You are both so much fun! Living legends! Keep pushing!
Didn't The Who open for Peter Noone & Herman's Hermits in the 60s? Amazing! Roger is still gorgeous 😍
I was at a Daltry show right before the Who Super bowl performance. It was at The House of Blues in Disney, FL. A small bar scene, it was amazing. There where some hecklers there and Roger set them straight and said if they don't shut up, he'll have them thrown out. I agreed with him. I was 5 feet in front of roger, priceless!
I use to live just outside of Disney and went there all the time! That would had been amazing to be at. I would had gotten chills. I love to met Sammy but Rodger! WOW!
2 Legends hanging out and talking music,,Band, and Life! How cool is this!
I'm not a car guy.......but I have always dreamed about that beach station wagon at the end of the show. Beautiful!
Absolutely loved Roger Daltrey as The Tin Man in the musical, “The Wizard of Oz,” with Jackson Browne as Scarecrow, Nathan Lane as Cowardly Lion, Jewel as Dorothy, Natalie Cole as Glinda the Good Witch, the Harlem Boys Choir as the munchkins, and Joel Gray as the Wizard. Ry Cooder musical director. It’s on UA-cam.
Both of these men are lovely and salt of the earth.
Yes!! I do love this show & have crushed on Roger Daltrey since "Tommy"
I'm sending love and hugs to you from my official private page. Send me your Gmail
Wish it was longer. It's 2022 and I'm just discovering Sammy's show. Lol Love It
Roger is beautiful.
Roger Daltrey knows how to give a great show, if not the best!
So gracious a guest and how disarming a host. Love them both so much.
That may have been the best Rock interview I've ever seen/heard!
Roger Daltry was iconic in his hay day.
Love you Sammy!Great interviews.
Sam you have never seen the WHOS amazing journey documentary. Its one of the best out there.....A MUST SEE.
Amazing how good Roger Daltrey looks!
Two class acts.
