Years ago, I would pop the clutch and spin the tires on my MG B, but after I blew the clutch and had to pull the engine to replace, I started driving like a grandma. Now, 55 years later I am a grandpa wishing I had the car back, if I could get in and out of it.
Now I have a Ram Limited with the hemi and my driving still keeps me in the 10 mpg range and love it!

My first car I bought from a preacher, it was a 1953 MGTD. Sank every paycheck in that car, from new leather, chrome, paint and mechanics. Even stuffed an 8-track in the glove compartment. Windshield could be folded down and a dash light came on when you were low on gas. Well, anyway, your mom's car triggered a memory. Thanks!

It can be difficult when your dealing with a physical situation that can't be seen from the outside. It can make the recovery process seem to go on and on.
Having had my shoulder reconstructed after a serious injury the recovery road had some hills and valleys, and seemed to go take much longer than I wanted.
Aaron, you have my thoughts, prayers and support. The length of your recovery is a measure of the seriousness of the health issue that you went through. I applaud you and Emily, your Star Team Life member, for your tremendous recovery and life adaptations.
You two cherish life already. I can only say, Hurrah! And, Keep on keeping on. Rock on you two beautiful people

As a helpful oil pump i used a weed sprayer bottle & pump.. I put in approximately the amount of oil you need. I cut the sprayer nozzle off and inserted a 2 ft clear plastic hose on the end of the tube then pump up the tank... squeeze the sprayer grip oil flows easy and you can get into small holes 🕳 for gear and other hard to reach places...

    • @gordblechinger9143
      @gordblechinger9143 10 місяців тому

Did the same with old metal and plastic tanks as long as you have fluid line to bottom or draw off the bottom, put in metal tire valve and use shop air as long as you keep the pressure within reason to the container, usually 5 to 15 psi fluids flow ok and control it with ball valve on end of hose.

I was in the service around El Cohan when I got my 1st ride in an MG and Fiat Spyder. We had to look some kind of hilarious being 2 grown crammed into these tiny cars, but no one cared. My Sargents were surprised by how captivated I was by their cars. I was one of the few people whom they letcdrive their cars. We worked on them, and just enjoyed them for what they were, inexpensive fun cars.

I had in the 1970’s a Morris Minor traveller, a woodie, it used the same engine and gearbox as the midget. It leaked and burned oil so much I begged the scrap oil from the company mechanic. The oil did six thousand miles in some one else’s engine then another hundred in mine.

Not to worry about the master reservoir cap. I worked on hundreds of MGs, Healeys, Jensen, Lotus’, Triumphs, etc. back in the ‘70s. When a slave is replaced, the master is bound to go bad in a matter of days/weeks, and vice versa, so there a good chance you’ll get to do the master here on the channel soon - and it’ll come with a proper cap.
Hopefully the new replacement parts have better rubbers - the old Lucas hydraulics weren’t fond of American brake fluids back then, but this one looks like it didn’t like all the moisture getting in under that cap.

Your mother is a classy lady if she drove the MG's when in high school. Now don't hold it against me, but I am a northeastern gentleman, but I did drive MG-MIDGETS back in my hayday. I graduated from high school in 1968. And, I have owned two different MG-MIDGETS , one had the chrome bumpers while my later car had the rubber bumpers. Both were the same colour. I really loved those cars. I had the advantage that both cars were brand spanking new, right off the dealer's showroom floor.

Oh boy.... the memories of working on my 74 Triumph Spitfire. It ran great! It had the well lubricated under side. The slave cylinder and clutch master cylinder were always needing to be rebuilt. I paid 1500 for mine back in 1980. It was bright yellow and had a matching hard top. It was a blast to drive! Never had any electrical issues with it even though the electrical was by Lucas. Glad your mom loves it. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. You guys are great!

Years ago I sold mine to a friend that begged me to sell it to him, I sold it with the warning that at some point your foot is going through the floor. He must have thought I was kidding until a couple of months later.

I had a similar experience with a 1967 Ford Cortina GT. Air would leak into the slave cylinder without loss of fluid. Pumping the pedal would compress the air for a short period but the pedal would drop to the floor the next day and one would have to pump again. I replaced the slave cylinder seals and problem was solved. I would guess that a rebuild of the master cylinder is also needed.

    Obvious questions/tips:
    1. Why isn't there Oil Dri soaking up the Jeep transmission oil spill?
2 .Does Moss Motors not have a mirror for the driver's door?
    3. I know she probably doesn't use it, but should there be a plastic/wire tube to supply fresh air from the front of the car to the blower fan box on the firewall?
I'm happy she's so happy with this car!

I have always loved MG's . Love the looks of that one. But you need to repaint those Wheels and put some trim rings on them. And I always pressure clean the motor or underneath the car before I work on it, that one could use it. I mean after all it's an MG.
