I live in California where there are smog tests for cars built after 1975. When the smog test is done your car could be so rusty that it's about to break in half but if it passes the smog check you can register it to drive.

Thanks for your show, I really enjoy watching you guys work on your projects together. My wife and I did that together on our rock crawler jeeps. She passed away in 2021. So working on the jeep isn’t as fun as it used to be. We were together for 43 years. I am planning on coming to Texas to do some wheeling and will be picking up a friend in Mount Pleasant. Don’t know where that is in relation to your town, but it would be nice to stop by and meet you guys in person 😊. Just from watching your shows makes me feel like I know you already.

I like that parts washers and the solvent is environmentally friendly and safe, I know there's some that don't clean that well, but this crc seems to work well. Back in my day in the late 80s you knew the parts solvent worked because not only did it strip the crap off the parts, but it'd strip your skin off to the bone, that's how you knew it worked!

Old mechanics trick for installing plugs: use a piece of hose that will slide over the electrode or ceramic part of the plug that is snug - it will make installing those hard-to-reach plugs easier, less likely to cross thread and will keep the plug from accidentally falling out of the socket. When the plug is "finger" tight, the hose will simply spin on the plug, then pull it off and tighten with your socket. The old man who trained me taught me that little trick is it has proven to be invaluable to me. Enjoy watching all the projects!

Anti-Seiiz on plugs a little dab, like a stripe top to bottom, DO NOT get any on the end, you get it on the porsalin because you will never get it all off, at high voltage like ignition 50,000 volts min.
once it tracks down the porcalin, it there forever. Most anti has copper, nickel, so you just killed the plug. Ole Lecktrican/mec. The stuff is like roofing tar, get it on you hand, when your done it's every where! Keep on, you guys are Killin it!

where I used to work, we were not allowed to torque a fastener within 10% of the top or 20% of the lowest torque setting on the torque wrench. Our genius engineers said they lost accuracy on the extreme ends of the wrench. In this case, I would have used an inch-pound wrench

The Z32 is Japanese equivalent to a German over engineering vehicle. It was one of the first street production cars to use CAD back in 1986/1987. First production run for 1990 cars rolled off the production line in February of 1989. My Z32 was one of the first imported to California. You two did a great job tearing down into it. It’s a vehicle known to turn owners into mechanics because of current shop rates. Keep up the quality content!
Only vehicle I think the flying sparks garage is missing is a C6 Z06.

My anti-seize tip: get a small, 1/4" wide Testor's paintbrush from the world of model making, and keep that with your Permatex big bottle of goop. Makes for a less messy situation when you only are using a little bit and can "paint" it onto the threads. It usually doesn't take much.

    Man! The struggle is real!
You guys have a million times more patience than I would have with that car. It seems like everything on it is a knock down drag out fight to the death. Part of it is the over complicated design, and part of it is how crispy everything gets over time. All of those hoses, wires, and corroded connections. WOW! What a nightmare.
So sorry about your camera. That really sucks. Stuff happens.
Great video! Great job of sticking with it. Well done!

“Why do you call everything a nipple?” 😅 I grew up on a farm in Montana…cows had “tits,” brand new tires had little “tits” on them. Pipe fittings were “nipples.” We thought nothing of it. We were not being lewd. We were being practical. We had utmost respect for girls/women. They had both breasts and nipples. No disrespect. Thank you so much for your content!

Cut off a long piece of fuel hose that will fit over the spark plug insulater , firmly ! Works good on hot engines and deep areas to remove spark plugs ! Yes let it cool down first before you start , preferably when it is cold , but sometimes you just have to remove and go because of time issues !

You both work well together. I don’t do so well when working with my better half. 😂 Keep the videos coming.

Congrats you two. I did the same darn thing to my 1990TT last summer. I kept all of the PCV and throttle body coolant lines original. What a pain to reinstall everything by oneself but it went back together. All electrical connections were corroded like yours were. I upgraded to the new style injectors so I could use any formulation of high octane fuel. Don’t forget the clean out the PTU harness connections. You haven’t seen green corrosion until you pull that harness apart. A litttle sand paper and dielectric grease does wonders.

I'd like to encourage you to bring both z-cars to Branson Zfest the week after memorial day. It's a really laid back event, family friendly . Hope to Z-ya there.
