there is a cable pull with a slipper clutch. they can stop them manually because it only pulls them 1 way.
Where do they put all those wheels ounce the the new bogies are on the car?

Way back from 1997 to 2000 I travelled a lot along this route and it was always fantastic to watch this action from the coach window
How much time to do it?
Less than an hour, but depends on the length of the train, of course. I was on a train with at least ten carriages.
