Much respect to Josh Thompson for drawing the line on Covington. There is no room for that kind of thing in this sport or any professional activity. And anyone who support Covington needs to have a serious look at themselves.
I've lost all respect Colby saying what he said and yes say things to hype up the fights but he crosses the line so much to the point where you end up disliking him for the things he's said about Leons father
Josh, it's absolutely déjà vu that you mentioned Koscheck, as those were exactly my thoughts about Colby after his match. The only difference being that Colby's public image is more pro UFC brass as compared to Koscheck's. Exactly as you, I will not be watching anything that Colby does professionally as I lost all respect for him as a man after what he said about someone's deceased father for whatever reason.
Massive respect to Josh for your stance after Colby’s comment. 👏👏👊🏾. A dead parent is such a painful experience, Colby’s comment was heartless & disgusting, I hope no kids look up to him as a role model. So glad Leon won, and handled everything with dignity on fight night. Keep up the good work Josh, Big John & Dave.
Also, Leon's literally always one 5 minute chat with his mum, brother or Dave Lovell away from getting calm, happy and focused again. All the Colby fans thinking Leon would fight reckless and angry. That just not him; composure is his bread and butter.
@@gunner4life568you mean mw? 170 to 205 is a big difference. My son is a natural 120 well the tourney yesterday he was 120.2 they made him go up to 131.. that 11lbs was a huge difference. He still got 3rd but he is also undefeated at 120. His 131 record isn’t as good. It’s hit or miss loses just as many as he wins most the time. So yeah 205 would be to big of a gap for Leon. And I think Leon is huge. He’s Ian Garry shavkat size but built like Usman. Just a little slimmer. Leon is def massive.

agree, what's unfortunate is UFC obv wants to use him for Dubai and Leon doesn't seem to interested in fighting him (which I get as getting PPV points).. now here comes shavkat to steal the shine for Russian/muslim crowd that Dubai is known for. so ya, shavkat vs belal I would bet is next, so than winner can fight Leon on UK card later in the year.. UNLESS belal refuses to fight and just has to wait it out for his shot, just will be a year off is all for him... there is a storyline with the eye poke.. But I really feel belal will take the shavkat over waiting as he is that guy. but perhaps learned his lesson don't listen to UFC when they say "well we dont know when u will be able to fight next so better take this short notice fight"...

Leon just would have wrestled him anyway so we aren't missing anything by not seeing that fight. I did root for him to get the title but 170 is too grappling heavy at the top & he's unfortunately not able to escape that & do what he does best. I hope he just gets a few more striker opponents for a few fun fights & retires without tarnishing his legacy. MVP & Garry would be ideal opponents for him to have fun fights with & he deserves to have those for his last few rather than using him for others to make a name off of where they hold him up against the fence or lay on him. Let that man shine for all his yrs of great fights.
My boy was saying about shavcat (IDC UK who I'm talking about shit up) why doesn't he strike with Wonderboy your supposed to be this beast. That's why he is that beast does the smart thing 18-18 finishes. Perfect. That's all that matters. Also love Bryce hope he's ok
I agree with John on identifying the moment Belal flipped that switch. When he was training for the Sean Brady fight, he trained with Khabib, Islam and those guys. I remember on a video Belal said it was the hardest he was ever pushed during a camp. His hands got a little better to. I think Leon beats Belal by decision and it looks similar to this one.
Sad to see Big John hating on Jake Paul. One day it'll sink into your head that the kid has zero ametuer experience and has only been training for 4 years. At least Josh acknowledges it. Real pro boxers sometimes have 100 amateur fights and they pad their pro record until they hit 20 fights before they ever start fighting legitimate guys. I don't know what more you want from the kid, he beat a real boxer with a 10-1 record who was a 3 time golden gloves champ.
Colby talked about making sure to avoid the head kick and it worked and whatever he was doing Leon read it so he didn’t throw wasted kicks opening up a takedown. Colby didn’t fight well compared to what we’ve seen but sounds like he was ready for that kick, maybe too ready, overly defensive.
No, this is Colby. When people say he's less horrible in person, that's like when the badly behaved kid at school isn't constantly attacking everyone 24/7. Sometimes you walk past them in the corridor and they're fine and even talk to them because you play football occasionally or know someone they know. It doesn't mean they're not the bad kid and you're not wary around them.

I think point well said on Koshcheck. But to add some context: JK did win another another fight after the GSP loss. He went 2-6 with 6 straight losses, 3 being against future champs at 170.
Tony should consider transitioning to endurance athletics like Goggins while bringing up the young up-and-comers. He will always be a legend. Never had his will broken.
Podcast Dave, what are we doing? 10min match making Colby vs. fighters that are already booked. Colby vs. Burns who is fighting JDM, Colby vs. Geoff Neal who is fighting Garry. Do y'all even mma?
How is no one talking about the size of Leon. Colby was shook by the speed but also the size of the bloke. Honestly Leon next to Izzy their would not be much of a size difference.
Was saying it for months. Leon's professionalism on his weight cut and his natural body shape with the tiny waste and massive legs and shoulders, is literally perfect for MMA. He's always taller, longer and stronger than his opponent. People never really think of him as big because he's so nice and soft spoken, but he loomed over Usman.
Lets be honest, both Colby and Leon looked awful. Colby fought horrible because he didn't employ a single thing that has made him successful his whole career, and Leon... I dont even remember him throwing more than a couple shots the whole fight. We the fans are the ones who lost last night.

Belal just cant get a break 😂😂 at least yall remember his name
@@Redz1991 yes that’s good too. Belal vs Edwards would be awful
No offense to wonderboy but a win against him shouldn't land you a title fight.
I'd say Leon controlled the engagement, rather than was afraid to engage.
It was boring if you wanted chaos, because it was so quickly evident that one fighter was on a completely different level to the other.
LEON & PADDY WERE BORING AS HELL
Yep
Leon won what more do you want. Thats all that matters. He is king and colby not even top five anymore. Colby is boring period.
It was his third and last ever title shot, talked all his $hit, yet came out with no desire to actually fight. Colby’s performance was a disgrace. You could tell he was scared to get finished.
Yep and left his leg there to get destroyed. Leon could've finished him though.
“There’s a line, and motherfucker you crossed it”. Bro I felt that so much and you are 100% correct. That wasn’t Josh the podcaster talking. That was Josh the absolute savage MMA fighter talking. I like Colby too but he definitely crossed the line.
Very sorry about your father Josh🙏🏽
🙏
I'm tired of people saying Colby is doing a gimmick. He's just a nasty poor excuse for a human being and it's why people weren't exactly upset what Masvidal did to him outside the octagon.
@@jvanek8512 says random guy who's never met him
@@joshuathomson7179Colby can redeem his character, but he can never go back and make the millions of dollars he did. Colby had to use his mouth just like Chael Sonnen and everyone loved Chael. Plus everyone loved the Conor / Khabib crap and UFC PROMOTED IT. So I expected UFC to look like Strickland, Colby, etc in 2024
@@jvanek8512Colby is doing what the UFC loves. Hell they even promoted the Strickland crowd fight within SECONDS on social media . UFC wants trash promotion and they got it. You got fooled like WWE

Best thing about this is Leon wants to fight 3-4 times a year now that he has the belt, he said that during the post fight press conference and that’d be awesome if he delivers. Plus he’s a huge 170er, way bigger then Colby, so he’ll move up good
Yeah, Leon's in that window where he knows he's got to get everything he wants done in the next 3 years really.
3-0 in title fights isn't a bad start.
Much respect to Josh Thompson for drawing the line on Covington. There is no room for that kind of thing in this sport or any professional activity. And anyone who support Covington needs to have a serious look at themselves.
It's almost as if his supporters don't have any real morals or standards, but want everyone else to live by their standards...
Same exact shit McGregor does but everyone loves that piece of shit too . I hate both guys I'm glad whenever either of them lose .
I've lost all respect Colby saying what he said and yes say things to hype up the fights but he crosses the line so much to the point where you end up disliking him for the things he's said about Leons father
So now you all know Colby is just as bad as we found out Chael was. It was pretty obvious.
Colby realized he wasn't going to win the fight so he entered a "No getting KOed mode"
It was a great event minus the main event
The best thing about the Strickland situation is that no one is really surprised or upset,
we didn't expect anything else.
Dana White: “What asshole sits DDP and Sean Strickland that close to each other??? This asshole right here (points to himself)😂😂😂😂
Thank you Josh and John for the show
this was very good, they both are class acts
Colby will be back, he did what he did to earn his money, but I don’t think he’s retiring anytime soon.
That’s fine but he will never be a world champion :)
NEVER
I don't think he can beat a single person in the top 10. He's too small for the division
@NelkkidsThe onlyfans girl mantra
@@derekgardner1861He's just not good enough. The small excuse is silly. He's never beaten a top contender who's not way past their prime.
The problem with Colby raising the stakes is that he also put additional pressure on himself
Also, Leon's literally always one 5 minute chat with his mum, brother or Dave Lovell away from getting calm, happy and focused again.
All the Colby fans thinking Leon would fight reckless and angry. That just not him; composure is his bread and butter.

Nobody wants what’s his name to get the shot. 😂
Belal. That’s who I meant 😂
Feed belal to Leon first.
belal will beat shavkat.
I knew Colby was going to lose. Leon is too big at WW and his ground game cancels out. Leon has better striking. It was a lackluster fight on all ends
leon is a natural WW I think at LHW he will struggle with those giants imagine him against Pereira
@@gunner4life568Fuckin what?
@@gunner4life568you mean mw? 170 to 205 is a big difference. My son is a natural 120 well the tourney yesterday he was 120.2 they made him go up to 131.. that 11lbs was a huge difference. He still got 3rd but he is also undefeated at 120. His 131 record isn’t as good. It’s hit or miss loses just as many as he wins most the time. So yeah 205 would be to big of a gap for Leon. And I think Leon is huge. He’s Ian Garry shavkat size but built like Usman. Just a little slimmer. Leon is def massive.
@StandingWarrior Classic mistake of thinking it's a height class not a weight class. If it was a height class guys like DC should have been fighting at WW. See how ridiculous that is?

Belal deserves his title shot more than anyone, but he's already 35, not liking his chances. Really a story of bad timing due to being not exciting enough for the brass to give him a shot.
agree, what's unfortunate is UFC obv wants to use him for Dubai and Leon doesn't seem to interested in fighting him (which I get as getting PPV points).. now here comes shavkat to steal the shine for Russian/muslim crowd that Dubai is known for. so ya, shavkat vs belal I would bet is next, so than winner can fight Leon on UK card later in the year..
Uhh, Josh, Bryce didn't take into consideration globes r round for a reason either. He definitely thought he could win this fight & unfortunately for him, he got cracked by hard hitting Emmett. As much as I think he's losing his marbles or perhaps never had any to begin with, I hope he's ok & recovers fully & can get back to being farmer Bryce & living life.😊
BOYCOTT COLBY?!?!?!?!

Don't. He does a good job of sabotaging his career and character on his own
I think Driscus had his nose fixed to address his cardio issues

The last time I saw someone seizuring from a KO was in Deontay Wilder's highlights reel
Sean Strickland is a total psycho hypocrite , someone needs to keep an eye on him post retirement
Long time fan of the show and both of you guys. Josh, I agree about Covington and crossing the line.
Edwards not only won for himself, but also for what is right for everyone around the world, although, I would have preferred Leon's signature headkick to send Covington to the netherworld, but appreciate his attempt to choke him out. 👊🦶💥Just glad he won. Imagine if Wonderboy had somehow won against Shavkhat. We could have seen two of the best strikers in 170 division fight for the belt. Man, Wonderboy vs Edwards belt or without belt i wanna see that fight
Hope Wonderman can get into tv movies etc. No belt no shame he's the best ambasador of the game
I called it. I knew Bryce was going to get brutally KOed. And im not happy about it. Josh emmet has starched many men.
UFC almost became WWE if Colby won. Thanks to Leon for saving our sport.
People who still defend Colby’s “character” after that pitiful performance are complete losers.
Well, as we know, it's about half the U.S. public.
Gaethje took Tony's soul during the pandemic and never returned it.
John has to know Colby is playing a character
Are you that stupid? At this point it's obviously Colby's personality
His character is a pos. So is he playing it
No, this is Colby.

Watch Bryce on the Michael Bisping podcast pre-fight, you'll get it...anyone can be flat lined but your chances of it happening decrease significantly if you focus more on your stand-up and striking defense as opposed to being a loud and proud self proclaimed grappler that does little else.
