We are Jacob and Jenny, a husband and wife passionate about traveling the world. We started uploading in May, 2021 with a goal to see as much of the globe as possible. After visiting Costa Rica and French Polynesia, the time was right to quit our full-time jobs, so we left everything to travel and have loved every minute of it. Our goal is to make it to all seven continents and visit as many countries as possible. Follow along and be a part of the journey!

Great video! I just love seeing foreigners enjoying our beautiful country 😍 Greetings from Jyväskylä, central Finland! 🇫🇮
It is such a wonderful country 🇫🇮 thanks so much for watching friend!
I am currently learning Finnish. I knew a few things here and there but now actually trying to learn.
I spent most of my time in Helsinki, Turku, Espoo, Hämeenlinna, Rovaniemi and Kilpisjärvi. I hiked to the top of Saana
Welcome aboard greetings from espoo länsi uusimaa Finland
To think here in Tampere we have close to 50 public saunas in all shape and form - and also floating ones with a small motor to sail around...
Wow that is so cool!! Thanks for watching :)
Winter is a nice experience, but Finalnd (and the other Nordic countries) really are best on a beautiful summer day.
We definitely need to experience it in the summer!! Maybe this summer 🌞
Sometimes when you don’t have a sauna or lakes or pools, you can do this in shower. Just have a really hot shower at first, then turn off the heat and take a cold shower at the end. It gives you the same effect and your skin will feel better afterwards.
My mother loved to take snow plunges on sauna days (which were like daily in my family) and she used to grab a clump of snow with her, sit on the laude and set the snow clump on her head. She apparently loved the cold water flowing down her back in hot steam.
That is awesome! We will have to try your moms way next time haha! Thanks for watching!
I smiled so widely all the time when you were at Allas and swam there. Btw, did you know that Allas means literally a pool :)
I'm happy to hear how sauna life helps Jenny's health. We have an old saying that can be roughly translated as "If vodka, tar and sauna doesn't help, then it's deadly" meaning any illness.
We are so happy to hear that friend!! Hahaha, I love that saying, I am going to start saying it!🙌🏼
@@JacobandJennyTravel Sauna is very good for relaxing as you know. If I have had a tough week at work, I heat up my sauna, go there, wash myself and then take some beer and after that I go to bed for a sleep. And in the morning I wake up like a reborn man.
It's just so wonderful to see how much you enjoy Finland. I enjoy watching your videos, you are true to yourself. I really appreciate this!
Finland should grant J&J citizenship 😅
Vote for citizenship for J&J
We are so happy you enjoy our videos!! Thank you so much for your kind words :)
Another good thing to do, would be the traditional summer cottage life, with fireplace cooking outside, have to carry your sauna water and lighting up the kiuas. Aka "tarditional cottage life"
Winter swimming has come back in fashion in Finland in recent years, now more younger people are interested in it. You can easily get hooked on endorphin rush you get there, one lady I know says winter swimming is the best pain reliever for her joint pains.
We definitely got hooked on the endorphin rush!! Plus it helps my back so much! Thanks for watching friend :)
The from-hot-to-cold-thing is wonderful.
I remeber the first time I was sitting in the sauna with my kids, when I told them "let's go roll in the snow".
At first they were hesitant, but after a while it was like "ok, 3 more times, and THAT'S IT!".
Fun to see you experience pretty much that exact thing :)
I love that story!! We definitely got addicted to the feeling. Thanks for watching :)
Couldn’t agree more Jenny, sauna and then into the finish sea is literally one of our fav travel memories ever 😮😂
Yesss it’s the best!! 🥶
@@JacobandJennyTravel 💯
sauna and cold water swimming combo makes you feel so relaxed and sleepy. clears the head
Hope it is not golden shower....
A golden experience, I guess.
Ei mennyt ihan putkeen.
We totally agree! Thanks for watching :)
You two are best😊, you dont overact and you take it as it is (all the finnish tradiotional things)😅❤❤🎉 love your videos. Im going to check vids from other countries and accually decide where to travel next😊
Aw yay this comment made us smile!! ♥️ thank you so much friend! What kind of destination are you going for? Our favorite places are Thailand, the Caribbean or French Polynesia for the beach, Tokyo for a city, and Garmisch Partenkirchen in Germany for mountains!
Great video. It makes me really happy that you have discovered our country and our sauna culture. Right now I spend the summer in our summer house on the island of Korpo in the south western archipelago, and you can be sure I heat up the sauna EVERY night. Right now the water is rather pleasant, around 18-20C, but in the spring and autumn seasons it is a lot colder, so know very well the feeling you are talking about with such joy. Have a nice time in Finland.
We are so glad we got to discover it to and how amazing it is. We miss Finland everyday and can't wait to get back soon. Thanks so much for your comment :)
Sauna is maybe best think in Finland , glad at you like it too! And cold water.
It is amazing!! Thank you for watching :)
I was born in Finland but still have not found cold plunging. It's like -15C outside too. I think you two are nuts, in a good way, because I have heard it does have benefits. :)
Hahaha we are definitely crazy 🤪 thanks for watching friend!
This. I can go outsaide to the -20c for a smoke and then get back in to sauna but not ice cold water
I am going to miss the Finland vlogs ❄️
We are going to miss Finland!! 🇫🇮 thank you for watching!!
As a Finn I have to say, you guys are CRAZY in a positive way and I am amazed how well you do the cold to heat activity - KUDOS! You are now officially Honorable Finns :)
So happy to hear we are Honorable Finns♥️ And hahaha! Thank you friend 🤪 we feel a little crazy!!
Dear Jacob and Jenny.Bravo to ur endurance capacity.minus temperature u plunged in that was incredible.rolling in the snow was another enormous achievement.all these calls for a huge inner strength and of course endurance.❤❤I love ur vlogs, love from INDIA
This comment made us smile! Thank you so much for the encouraging words friends ♥️
Thanks for sharing. We will be in Helsinki next month (from a 40 degree Aussie Summer) and we cant wait to try the Polar Plunge.
You’re going to love it! Have a great trip :)
The cold plunging (avantouinti) is so good straight from the sauna, especially when there is no wind when you get back up you feel so warm and euphoric, meanwhile when you are dipping the lake/ocean in the cold water its the fligh-or-fight response sensation.
We feel so good when we go from hot to cold!! Thanks for your comments :)
So great to see that you are always so happy ☺
This comment made us smile! Thank you friend :)
I love how that old guy is just casually watching you guys freak out in the cold water while he's just sitting there in the frigid sea waters thinking "I dare this earth to kill me" 😂 Also, Jacob your pronunciation of the word "sauna" is pretty good, I married into a Finnish American family and they are quick to let you know that the U is a long sound, so it isn't "saw-na" but "sow-na"
Hahaha 😂😂 Jacob does a great job at making sure he pronounces other languages words correctly! Thanks so much for your comment :)
New subscriber here, i must say it's been fun to follow you guys on this finnish journey. Even though i'm from sweden, it basically feel like the same country just with a diffrent language. I've been there a couple times as well.
I'll be having a look on some of your other journeys aswell later.
Been enjoying both your styles and personalities.
Thank you so much for subscribing!! We are hoping to go to Sweden this September and would love any recommendations! Cheers friend!!
Just so you know, when you do get to Helsinki in the summer to visit the Suomenlinna fortress, it is NOT a small fortress on a tiny island as Jacob said in your first Helsinki video. The fortress spans over severals islands, all of which have things and places to see! There is also tons of history there, so doing some reading on it online beforehand and also visiting the museums there and asking questions from them, will make your visit that much better! I've worked there in two of the museums myself and also gave some small tours in the Ehrensvärd Museum when I had guests during quiet hours. :)
It is definitely a place you two should go and see!
Wow that is so great to know! Thank you so much for the information friend :)
I am so glad you have found help fpr your health through sauna/ snow/ plunge :) You two are fun to watch. Shout out from Finland o/
Thank you so much friend :) we are so happy we discover the sauna/cold therapy!🇫🇮
Im happy you guys enjoy my homecountry 🇫🇮😊
It is such a wonderful place🇫🇮 thanks for watching!
We’ve seen others do the polar plunge at that location! Glad you guys were able to experience it there too! 😂 it’s also cool to see that you’ve done them in multiple countries!
We have to do it in every country we go to now 😂 hahaha. You have to do it with us next 😉
@@JacobandJennyTravel we’ll see 😉
You guys are champions... just watch out for frost bite after dipping in the icy water, it tricks your body to feel warm in the air., which is actually also freezing. But super well done, a genuine hurrah from Oslo, Norway
Thank you so much friend!! We did a polar plunge in Sommaroy last December and I think it was much colder haha!! Cheers!
You have done more cold plunges than I have.
If you come here summer time make sure to get some sauna cabin by the lake and then you can sauna -> cool lake which is also nice. Generally the lake temperatures are somewhat cool the whole summer (big lakes at least). Mid July -> end of July probably the warmest.
That sounds awesome! We definitely want to spend some time on a lake in Finland during the summer! Thanks for your comment :)
You are so brave! My husband had categorically refused to try this crazy Helsinki sauna and jumping in the cold sea water afterwards ! But I REALLY wanted to try.😢
Hahah thank you!! If you are ever back, you should try it! It is a little painful but so fun :)
@@JacobandJennyTravel we are back on 8 January to Helsinki, but it is my husband birthday and I can’t not abandon him going to this sauna+ice hole myself ) then we are going to Levi, we have an apartment with huge balcony with nice rattan chairs, I will probably sit there after sauna if they are covered in snow. Taking my swimsuit with me)
Great video Jacob and Jenny! We also love the cold dips and such, it really helps your health! Jan and I both love your energy and all your videos! Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much friends!! We truly appreciate your kind words :)
Hope you come back in midsummer! Its a completely different experience.
We definitely want to!! Thanks for the suggestion :)
Very nice video. Jenny you have to protect your hair from heat in the sauna and also fro the cold. You can just wear a woolen beany or a sauna hat, otherwise you will damage your hair. Greatings from a Finn with fine hair.😊😊
That is great to know! My hair got wrecked when I went to the blue lagoon in Iceland haha! Thanks so much for the tip :)
I love Kyrö gin! Seriously it makes the best G&T in the world, hands down. ❤ Although I'm slowly getting addicted
It was so delicious!! 🙌🏼 Hahah! We have to be careful about getting addicted too!
Oh nooo… very brave from you both! 😅🎉
Hahaha! Thank you so much 🎉
Between cold plunges and sauna, you should wait few minutes out side, that will bring best feeling you can imagene.
We will try that next time!! Thanks for the recommendation :)
First video i saw from you and must subscribe. Fun, hearty couple. And Jenny.. Face from Angel, body from Goddess. I could watch and listen to you rest of my life 🌹💕
You are so kind!! Thank you so much for your nice words :)
Nice videos, subscribed! I really relate to the cold swimming and getting "healthier". I had joint pains on my knees, and cold swimming has totally helped, i dont (for some reason) feel the ache anymore. Thats why i started doing cold swimming a regular hobby, and in the summertime i take ice cold showers and cold pools anytime possible. Even though i was not depressed, i can also feel that i am overall more energetic and happier. Maybe it is all the dopamine, adrenaline etc. rushing through when exposed to extreme cold. Iceswimming is totally groundbreaking and awesome!
Yay thanks so much for subscribing!! Cold plunging is amazing and we are so happy to hear it helped you so much too! 🙌🏼
Few yrs ago I met 2 Mexican here in Rovaniemi Finland. When I was telling them that ice swimming, they just Said that Finns are grazy and they never do that. Coupe days later I saa their video on Facebook and they enjoying swimming in Lake middle of Winters and they did that many Times 😂😂😂
Hahaha that is awesome!! Maybe they got addicted like we did! Thanks for watching :)
@@JacobandJennyTravel I'll beta at they got 😂. I've done that too when I was younger.. 😊
Some people are just not so open minded to try this! I like to try, but sadly will be alone as my other half is not keen at all(

Hard to believe yall rolling in the snow after the cold pool!!!
I can't believe Jacob convinced me to do it!! Hahah!
Great video, you´re doing it great! Jacob lasts longer in cold water than me, and I´m Finn! And your drink was great choice too!
I don't know how Jacob lasts so long in the water haha!! The drink was delicious! Thanks so much :)
Glad to see you loving sauna and snow! I will admit, you two are way more hardcore with the cold than I am! I've done cold pools, rolling in snow, but it's been a long while since the last one! Even in the summer our tap water usually stays cold, so you can do hot & cold in the shower. Or go to a public swiming pool or spa, many places have ice cold pools. You can also find fresh sushi in some grocery stores, sometimes even better quality than restaurants, for future visits (unlikely in Lapland)
Haha thank you friend! It is the adrenaline that gets us through it lol! You are so right, we got some sushi from the grocery store and it was delicious! 🍣
I think you should move to Finland!
You would fit right in!
We always say if we ever want to live somewhere other than Arizona, it would be Finland haha! Maybe we will have a summer house there someday🙌🏼
Tervetuloa! @@JacobandJennyTravel
There is (at least) one saunagondole In some skiing resort In the skilift, that You can rent
That is so awesome! We will have to try that sometime :) thanks for the information!
Nice twins!!

You are so brave!
Thank you friend!!
How long are you staying in Finland? Is there more videos still coming from Finland? (I live in Finland and these kinds of videos are fun to watch and see how foreigners feel about Finland)
And you have to come to Finland in summer!!!
We have one more Finland video coming :) not sure if you have watched our other videos here over the past few years, but we have at least 30 Finland videos to watch! Thanks so much for your encouragement!
Yes, I have watched all of your videos 👍
I soooo much love your videos ❤ You should find out more about Wim Hof breathing technique .. it will help you so much. Especially before going to swim on ice water ! Greetings from Finland 🥶
Thank you so much friend!! You comment made us smile ♥️ I have seen that before but definitely need to do more research on it! Cheers 🇫🇮

Thanks so much man!💪🏻💪🏻
im loving this🥰
Thanks so much Sam!!
Dod you that one of the cabins on that ferris wheel is also a sauna
We read that!! That is so so amazing! We would love to do that. Thanks for your comment :)
There is a lot of people in finland, me included, that are completely addicted to ice swims. Most do prefer weasin gloves and slippers in feet to keep them warm.
That is awesome! We do need the gloves and slippers, then we could stay in a lot longer🙌🏼
“And sit outside???!!??” 😂 love you guys
Hahaha!! I couldn't believe he wanted to sit outside 😂 He got me back since I made him polar plunge a bunch🥶 lol!!
O'h they've built more saunas on the pier, that's new. I didn't know, even if I live in the next town. I used to visit this pool before a ferry ship collision caused a crack and the place went under repairs. The cold water pool was a little bigger back then apparently. Have to give a test for this place again. :)
It is so much fun and the location is amazing! We hope you enjoy it as much as we did :)
Hahaha 😁🥰.. you two put a smile on my dial 🥶🥶🥶😁❤️❤️❤️
Your comments make us smile!! ♥️
Hello Lovely Couple! You are still traveling around the world. That is so cool and I envy you! Do you have any thoughts of visiting Seoul again? You are always welcome!
Hey friend!! Thank you so much! We do hope to visit Seoul someday again soon, and we hope to get to Jeonju as well!🇰🇷
You are slowly changing into Finns. 😁As a Finn I don't enjoy cold water plunges but many in our town go swim in ice lake on daily basis without sauna. Btw, have you been to Finland during summer?
We are trying to be honorary Finns hahaha!! We haven't been in the summer, but we are hoping to this summer or next :)
Hi from Finland, i live 10 minutes from that place 😅Never been in it tho. Mostly cos we got sauna in home. We got saunas than people. 😊
That makes sense!! We loved using the sauna in our airbnb too! Thanks for watching friend :)
You did great!
Thanks so much friend :)
Great videos..thanks.
More for you to try..in Kuusijärvi...there three smokesaunas and open lake to do ice-dipping or winterswimming....I go almost every week
We will add that to our list!! Thanks so much for the recommendation :)
Gin is definitely the best! ;D
It is delicious! Thanks for watching :)
Where were you from? Your videos always put me in such a good mood. Thank you for that.
We are so happy to hear that! We are glad we could bring a smile to your day :) we are from Arizona in the USA!
The only confirmed health benefits from sauna, and that doesn't mean there isn't more but this one is fully researched, is that sudden exposure to high heat will trigger your cells to produce so called heat shock proteins. Those proteins have the capability to repair cell damage, mainly by straightening other proteins that have curled up. They also prepare cells for another heat shock so your body is better capable of dealing with it. They are like little handyman's of the cells, fixing things.
Of course, it releases endorphins and lowers cortisol levels, but the heat shock proteins are the magic that actually does something other than makes you feel good.
Oh wow that is so interesting!! Thanks for that great information :)
Thanks very much again for your inspiring video! Especially enjoyable for us guys... 😎
Vodka is not a Finnish word but russian/Slavic. Traditionally we Finns didn't drink vodka but viina - which is practically the same thing.
The word "viina" (spirit) is shortened from "paloviina" (fire spirit), which is based on word "viini" (wine). So "viina" is litterally fire wine.
Great to see you enjoying the Finnish specialities/peculiarities. I hope you normally sit higher in sauna, because that's where all the "löyly" (steam) goes. Of course you may sit where ever you want, but usually only the kids sit on the lowest bench...😉
I believe the diffrence is that viina cannot be called vodka due it's under 40% and you add sugar to it. So it's not allowed to be called vodka. Similar to swedish brännvin.
That is good to know! I think we tried viini. Thanks for watching :)
@@JacobandJennyTravel
Or perhaps you tried viina?
Viina = spirit
Viini = wine
Remember, 30 seconds minimum in the winter sea, to get the great after-feeling and the health benefits
That is great to know! Thanks for the information :)
Wim "FIN" Hof agreeds on this video, he is teaching the thing we have done for ages.
Yes we have read about him!! Thanks for your comment :)
Jacob is prenouncing sauna correct! :)
He is so happy to hear that!! Thank you for your comment :)

We will have to keep that in mind for the next time we are there :) thanks for the suggestion!
What a beauty she is
Thank you so much friend :)
Cold exposure also produces brown fat in the body, which has good health effects.
A cold shower does the same thing. 2-3 minutes is enough. If the shower makes you gasp for breath or you have to get out of the shower, you should set the water to warmer.
That is great to know! There are so many benefits. Thanks for your comment :)
Kiitos
Thank YOU for watching :)

That is a good sushi place! Looks like a mess, but cheap and delicious.
We totally agree! It is a great bang for your buck! Thanks for watching :)
yes good
Thanks so much :)
Coincidentally, today I had my first real swin in an ice hole. I was also smoked out of a sauna for the first time (literally thought I was going to die). If you want to get more extreme in Helsinki, try visiting Sompasauna. Although, it might not be a good place to film since some people go naked.
That is awesome! Except for the smoking out part haha! We will put that place on our list. Thanks for the suggstion :)
If a sauna smells like sweat inside, then it usually means the ventilation isn't powerful enough for the amount of users. It's not normal and shouldn't happen.
Oh wow that is good to know! Thanks for the information :)
Ok, you guys are officially crazy. lol. I cannot imagine. Now the food, I think I’d be very hungry. I am not a fish/seafood eater. Seems as though that’s very popular over there. Great video guys. Stay safe. 💗
Hahaha we definitely are crazy 🤪 seafood is very popular here! Praying for your blog ♥️
@@JacobandJennyTravel thank you. Also can you pray, I found out I need a total shoulder replacement. That is very scary. I’m not sure I’m willing. But I will consult with my drs. My cancer may make it contraindicated. Ugh. 💗🙏

There you can see why you wear "avantouintitossut" (special shoes).
Yes we definitely need those!! Thanks for watching :)
Ice hole swimmers often wear a woollen hat and these wetsuit type socks. They make the experience better -- like you said, the hot to cold treatment feels really good but your extremities tend to go numb. I also would not dive in cold water. That'll give you brain freeze!
We definitely need some of those haha!! Thanks so much for your comment :)
You are so nuts, I as a Finn would never ever ever go swimming in open water in winter.Hrrr 😃
Hahaha we are a little crazy 🤪 thanks for watching!
Swimming in the actual arctic water is quite ballsy move for foreigner! Not many people dare to try it but it feels amazing right? :D
Yes we love it so much!! We feel so good after! Thanks for watching :)
Finns used to be vodka and Koskenkorva spirit (basically vodka too) nation, but Kyrö distillery and Napue Gin has changed that. Kyrö is a whisky distillery and while they were waiting for their first batch, they decided to try out gin. They sent a bottle to an international competition and they of course won it. That catapulted Kyrö into international fame and that Gin and Tonic recipe has been a huge hit in Finland. Rosemary and cranberries.
I haven't tried Kyrö gin, but I really enjoyed their rye whisky.
Nothing has changed. Top 5 sold booze in alko in 2023: Viina, viina, viina, 8% beer, viina! :D
Kyrö's stuff is outrageously expensive and will remain in marginal forever.
@@ilmariylitalo8427Kyrö gin is excellent and known worldwide. I love it with tonic, since money is no issue
Definitely not a big change. But when Napue came to stores about 10 years ago it for sure got a lot people more interested in higher end boozes rather than just bang for the buck option.
That is so interesting!! We loved the way it tastes! Cheers friends!
Hi Jacob and Jenny! How deep is the polar plunge water? I 'd like to try it in a few weeks,. but I can't swim! Is there a shallow end? Thanks so much!!

Hei you, and thanks for nice videos from Finland. I live 20 minutes from Helsinki. But I just thought, why you visit us only wintertime? Please come summer, visit easter country and see lakes. Yes we do!! Hopefully we will be back soon in the summer! Cheers friend 🇫🇮
if you come to finland in the summer, maybe visit mariehamn, åland.
you've had your lapland and southern finland experiences, so next try the swedish quarters? they have a different culture too!

Thumbs up!
Thank you friend :)
Poor Jenny, I like only hot warm face water in lake Saimaa and mild Sauna....😊
That sounds great! Thanks for watching :)
Besides Long drink aka lonkero, traditionally gin is not popular in Finland because its imported liquor and people just couldn't make it in the woods like moonshine. It has just recently become a trendy thing thanks to groundbraking and bubbly Kyrö distillery and their award hoarding products. If you make it with attidude and with finnish crazyness and on top of that get world wide regocnition, it will grow some hype. Same with whiskey, its not historically produced here so when couple of distillerys announced they will be making whiskey, people thought they were crazy but now people all over the world are coming here to see one of the best distilleries. There are some awesome stories, who could believe it :D
That is so interesting, thank you for sharing that information! :)
Try neoprene gloves and shoes for ice swimming.
We definitely need those! Thanks for the tip :)
