Helsinki is very under-rated city in my opinion. Lot of great and unique architecture. Also the city is not hectic, it has very relaxed atmosphere and is very safe city to visit. Very walkable aswell and has good public transportation. No wonder Helsinki is one of the most liveable city in Europe according to statistics. Finland, the happiest country in the world 6 times in a row including this year 🇫🇮. Great country, great city.

Appreciate your nice comments my friend! 🙌 Be sure to watch my other videos if you're doing the Oslo / Stockholm / Helsinki and Tallinn trip. But in the meantime - I hope you have a great time out there in Finland!
You forgot to meantion that Suomenlinna is actually declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It represents the pinnacle of military architecture of that time. It is also almost 2 times the size of Tallinn's old town. You can get to Suomenlinna not only by a boat, but by HSL ferry. This means that if you have HSL ticket for A zone, you can get there by HSL ferry with no additional cost. This is by far the most popular way to get to Suomenlinna. Very easy to go to this ferry also, since it departs from Market Square. Also I would line to add that Korkeasaari Zoo is also a very nice spot to visit. It's a Zoo which is located on its own island and you can get there either by HSL bus or boat (the boat is more expensive way to get there though). I must disagree about the museums. Helsinki has a very big catalog of museums which are totally worth the visit. Only small portion of them are covered in this video. For example Suomenlinna itself has 2 main military museums. You can spend hours of your time only in these two museums. I recommend that if you are planning to visit Helsinki's museums in the future, you should do a small amount of research so you can create some sort "plan" about which museums suit your taste. I agree with you that modern art galleries can be a bit letdowns which is why I rarely visit them even when I'm aboard. But overall, really great guide!
Yes, when I say 'boat', I also mean 'ferry'. Both are used interchangeably in English parlance. I was aware that Helsinki has a zoo, but for some reason I never visited it? As for the museums - I had a Helsinki Card, I think I visited pretty much most of the main ones. I can honestly say that I was happy with about 2 or 3 of them. I understand that different people have different tastes and you're free to disagree with that assessment, of course. But in my opinion, there are better museums to be found in the world. Thank you for your kind comments.
who travels to Helsinki to visit the zoo? museums and galleries are an acquired taste, especially the more niche, specialist ones.. I'm in Helsinki soon and it's not for animal prisons or art galleries (which 99% of people find boring)
This is an excellent video, short, simple yet very good introduction of the places and experiences. No unnecessary talking just to create a lengthy UA-cam. Great facts for my planning. Thanks and hope to see more of your work 🎉

A pretty great video of summarizing Helsinki for a few day trip. Nature isn’t that far away either, for example the Nuuksio national park that can be accessed by public transport from the city centre. The HSL app needs to be mentioned too, I know many tourists don’t want to download extra apps but once you have it it is the easiest way of purchasing tickets for sure, and the app includes a really nice journey planner.
Amazing, thank you very much for your kind comments! I think you'll like Helsinki and it's many weird and wonderful things to do. Be sure to share this video on your socials if you've found it helpful - it helps me out massively. Enjoy Helsinki!

We've been going to Helsinki for over 20 years, We're going back in December and absolutely love the place. We'll be there for the Christmas markets and Itsenäisyyspäivä, Independence Day. We used to stay in the Torni until it was shut for renovations and covid. Salmiakki is also an alcoholic drink, a bit of an acquired taste but we love it.
Ah excellent! I didn't stay in the Torni myself but it looks nice. I believe they have nice Christmas markets there ... and I'm never tried Salmiakki in drink format ... interesting concept?!
Former Premier League player Mikael Forssell used to practice in the field below the St. John's Church. Nice video once again to watch even though I have visited Helsinki many times!
Hi, thanks for your kind message. It all depends on what attractions you're planning to see? If they're within walking distance from Helsinki Station, you don't really need one. However, if you're planning on seeing everything and going to Seurasarri etc. then yes, get a one day travel card. Hope that helps?
Nice vid Ninh. I'll be there for one day next week for a quick look round on my way to Japan. Were there any bars in the centre you particularly liked?
Thanks! There's plenty of cool bars around the city centre and you'll be spoilt for choice. The Helsinki Brewhouse (in the video) is cool if you like unique beers, but you could honestly walk around and find better places to drink within walking distance.
Thanks for the info. It’s very helpful . We plan to stay in Helsinki for 4 days. How should we plan our each day to visit the places? Which destinations would be ideal to see in the same day?
You're welcome! All the main attractions around Helsinki Station you could see in one single day and that's most of the attractions in this video. The only things you'll need to make a special trip for is Suomenlinna Island, Seurasaari Island, or if you want to go to the theme parks or saunas. With four days, you could literally do everything! Hope that helps?
Ninh, if you were able to do it since I don't think you had time to be able to, would you take the ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn, Estonia and have a visit there? Did you also visit the Oodi Library as well?
Congratulations on another great video Ninh. While Helsinki is lower on my travel list than other Scandinavian destinations I still found this video quite enjoyable. A tad bit unrelated but do you ever plan on visiting the Açores or Madeira Ninh?
Thank you! Yes, I think Helsinki is worth a visit once in your life, but I'd advise that you visit Stockholm and Oslo as a priority. And I'd love to go to Acores and Madeira. In fact, I was supposed to go to Madeira, but ended up doing this Scandi trip instead. Might go towards the end of the year when it's quieter?
Hello everyone from Turkey. I will visit the cities of Helsinki, Turku and Tampere at the beginning of May. I can't wait to see this beautiful country. Those who live there, what do you recommend to me? Where should I visit, what should I taste and drink?
Well in turku, you can find this bar called tåget, it's located on an old train wagon! It's a really nice place. In Tampere, I really do recommend the museum center Vapriikki, it's a REALLY big and nice museum!!
Great video, I was in Helsinki about 10 years ago and I wasn’t overly impressed however I didn’t see much beyond the town centre! Have a few initial plans to do a full Scandinavian trip next year so these videos will come in handy! Presume you are doing Oslo as well? Did you get a chance to get over to Estonia? I would well recommend it! Other suggestions, I’ve recently been in Groningen in Holland and I would highly recommend! A nice funky alternative to Amsterdam!
Believe it or not - I'm currently working on videos of Tallinn, Riga and Oslo - so I've got you covered 😉 And I agree - Estonia was fun, and cost effective! I've heard that Groningen is a fun place to visit, but I don't know much about it? I'll have to look it up and add it to my list, for sure! Thanks again for stopping by 😀
I did show the big library in the video - but I didn't find it all that interesting to report on. It's a nice city, but I hope you're not stranded there too long!
Hi Ninh, your videos really came handy for my upcoming trip. I will be flying out to Helsinki this summer, stay for 3 days there and taking a ferry to Stockholm for 4 days, then flying to Manchester for holiday. Only my flight to Helsinki is confirmed, the rest is still at planning stage. Do you think it's a viable route?
Thanks again - I appreciate your kind comments. Yes, this is a viable route - but if you can, squeeze in a trip to Tallinn because it comes highly recommended. You can reach it via ferry from Helsinki in two hours and fly to Stockholm from there. I think if you can stay in Helsinki for two days, Tallinn for two days and Stockholm for 4 days, I think you can cover everything that you see in my videos. Hope that helps?

I also disdain the AI generated robo-rubbish that seems to be everywhere on UA-cam, without giving any meaningful practical advice to anyone. Thanks again.
Hey hey, thanks again! You could see and do the main sights of Helsinki in a day, two days maximum, after that you'll be bored. My advice if you want a city break you could spend 4 days in is go to Stockholm instead (watch my video). But if you're insisting to visit Helsinki and Tallin together, 1 week is more than enough.

Your content is well presented as is the video production. Honestly, why must we endure the jazzy sound track when we are keen to hear you. Very curious that you do this; can you recall any lecture with a sound track?
Thanks for the comment. The music for my videos is chosen to match the tone of the video (i.e. Spanish music for my Spanish videos, Italian Music for the Italian ones etc.). For this Helsinki video, I chose fairly non-offensive easy listening soft jazz music, which is standard for most of my videos. Believe it or not, out of millions of views on my channel - you are the first and only person to complain about the soft jazz background music. I'd get infinitely more complaints if I had no music whatsoever.
@@UltimateBucketList There is a huge distinction between your current music track and "no music whatsoever". That nobody has complained is not a reason to assume that you have satisfied your audience.
@@thorntontarr2894 maybe, but given the lack of people indicating any problem with my choice of music, one would assume that if you're the only person who has complained about it, one must also assume that the problem exists solely your opinion, and not of the opinions of the wider audience.
@@ata984 it was good. I'd recommend spending more time in Stockholm and less time in Helsinki and Oslo if you're going to do a trip. Definitely worth going in September before the weather turns sour.
I've actually been to Oslo and shot the footage - I just haven't gotten around to making the video yet. It'll appear on the channel in the next couple of months or so.
My go-to travel Channel. Nearly at 💯K subscribers. 🎉. Can you maybe do a video on Southampton or Winchester. In my county of Hampshire. (I live in Basingstoke).
Thanks very much, I appreciate that! I have actually filmed footage of Winchester as I was there about 5 weeks ago, but I've not managed to turn it into a video yet. I have a huge backlog of videos that need editing! Thanks again!
It's a pretty decent summary overall, and it's nice that you show how walkable the city is. But to discount erotic art as lesser than "actual art" is just closed-minded. Tom of Finland, one of the artists you showed, for example, has played an important role in queer Finnish history. Also, maybe don't go sneaking into weddings and funerals to film them and put the footage online.
It's not 'closed minded', it's simply opinion presented in docu-tainment. I'm fully aware of who Tom of Finland is, and his pioneering work in Erotica at a time when such was not accepted - but whether I or anyone else deem that as 'art' is up to the individual. I also don't consider modern hip-hip as 'music', but I fully acknowledge that many people do. As for 'sneaking' into weddings and funerals, you are positing that I have intentionally snuck into an otherwise closed private event. However the opposite is true. The buildings were open to the public and anyone had the same access as me. There is nothing underhanded going on here.
This was a very interesting video, but I know very little about, or of any famous sights or landmarks in any scandinavian country so I wouldn't really want to visit any, no disrespect intended. The only thing I can say, is that in the strange museum you showed, Tom of Finland, are very famously highly exaggerated drawings of gay men. Enjoyed the video though and the city does look lovely.
Thank you. Yes, I realise that I showed parts of the Tom of Finland exhibit and (apparently) he's world famous. I had to be brief and not show the more "artistic" drawings due to a risk of being demonetized and having the video taken down. I'd say Scandinavia is worth the trip, but spend more time in Stockholm and Oslo, than Helsinki.
Hi Bob, you must have been speaking to Karen. Yes, I've been splitting logs - though I don't think there'd be much demand for a video of me doing that?!
I don't mind it, but the ones in Helsinki are "next-level" (so to speak);. But if you do like contemporary and modern art - then Helsinki is definitely the place for you!
There's health benefits like helping with blood circulation but it's also an experience. After a session it feels like your brain wakes up from a long slumber.
If you are intending to visit every Museum, then it's probably worth the money. However, I think you might be a little bored of the museums, so just stick to the main attractions (most of which are free anyway).
Helsinki is quite the unique city and I highly recommend that you visit one day.
Let me know what you'd like to see next in the comment section below.

@@ata984 it was good. I'd recommend spending more time in Stockholm and less time in Helsinki and Oslo if you're going to do a trip. Definitely worth going in September before the weather turns sour.
Did you see any metal bands during your visit?
Aha, ironically no. 😂
That said, it's true that Finland has the highest population of metal bands in the world!
nice info 3 times restaurant name in Fin language ''ravintola'' remarkable
Yes, they do that sometimes.
Thanks very much!
No alcohol after 9pm btw. And over 5.5% only from government controlled Alko shops which close 8pm :)
Nanny state 😢
Huh, the K-Citymarket it was 10:00pm. But whatever - it sucks that you can't buy alcohol around the clock, eh?
@@UltimateBucketList You can buy only less than 2,8% alcohol over 9pm :) And yeah it kinda sucks...but i guess we have used to it :)
@@jaqnu If you only knew? Far from it.
By the way the booze restriction is much higher in Sweden.
Helsinki for❤❤
Yes :)
Helsinki ❤
Yes indeed.
How can I move to this beautiful city?
Probably just pack your stuff and move there?
It's not a bad city to live and work.
You should do Oslo please
I've actually been to Oslo and shot the footage - I just haven't gotten around to making the video yet.
It'll appear on the channel in the next couple of months or so.
@@UltimateBucketList ok
@@UltimateBucketList Yes, I agree, Ninh. Not everything these days is everyone’s idea of art. Most are just done for shock effect. Not my cup of tea.
@@cindymaceda2999 yes, exactly!
You forgot that your transport pass allows you access to the many boats which are part of the public transportation.
Yes
Finland isn't "Scandinavian"
Hi can we watch you splitting logs , hear your very good
Hi Bob, you must have been speaking to Karen.
Yes, I've been splitting logs - though I don't think there'd be much demand for a video of me doing that?!
I love the fact that you call out the trash and filth that passes for art these days.
Absolutely! Sometimes you have to question what constitutes to 'art' these days.
That's what would happen to majority of famous European museums if they give back all they have looted from africa and asia.
Yes I was thinking the same! Haha
Yes I was thinking the same! Haha
Yes I was thinking the same! Haha
Your not a fan of contemporary art then. The modern art museums would be my first port of call!
I don't mind it, but the ones in Helsinki are "next-level" (so to speak);.
But if you do like contemporary and modern art - then Helsinki is definitely the place for you!
That sauna thing got me confused 😂😂😂😂😂 whats the purpose of getting heat and then jumping inside t he freezing sea? Haha
There's health benefits like helping with blood circulation but it's also an experience. After a session it feels like your brain wakes up from a long slumber.
Lots of circulation benefits, but also it's one of the most refreshing things you'll ever do. So much fun!
Is there any Helsinki persons are there
Me and you are the only comments here…?
Sadly, yes.
If only people knew how long it actually takes to make one of these things ...
So basically um Helsinki
Basically, yes.
Locals definitely don't speak russian. And the majority don't speak swedish. Everyone speaks english though
I found locals that spoke those languages.
But yes, everyone does indeed speak English, which is nice.
You won’t be okay with Russian though.
Aid my country ,filand oil nutrients fool ,1982, e,e,c ,every aid covered ,material wrote ,fieland I KNOW MY FEVERTE COUNTRY ,🇪🇹
Look like boring city
It had its moments, but I preferred the other two Scandinavian capital cities.
It is not boring at all.
If you like thieves, robbery, molesting, attacking etc. Helsinki is boring. Not much that stuff there.
Go back to Russia.
Good country if you are old... 😂 When young, better to live in Fukuoka, Moscow, Singapore 😂😂😂🎉
You must be joking!
Fuckin' creepy.
It's not that bad.
Very safe city.
@@butterflies655 I live here. Very safe.
Go back to Russia.
Do you suggest to take “Helsinki pass” or “Museums pass”? 5 days in Helsinki and 5 in Rovaniemi .
If you are intending to visit every Museum, then it's probably worth the money.
However, I think you might be a little bored of the museums, so just stick to the main attractions (most of which are free anyway).
Thank you
Appreciate you watching this video and commenting.
See my channel for more videos like this, but in the meantime - enjoy Helsinki!
