Digging tunnels is a big no no, but kids will do it regardless. We just have to keep an eye on them and dig them out when their tunnels collapse on them.
Great, you finally got here! This has been maybe the coldest winter in 20 years and in Helsinki it can feel very cold because of the wind from the sea. The Baltic sea is less salty than the oceans and it can freeze easier because of that. You really must visit Helsinki in July or early August. I guarantee that it's a lovely summer city and looks like a different place with its green parks etc.
@@JacobandJennyTravel great! Agreed! I hope I'll be around then. In July I usually have my summer vacation and travel somewhere, but sometimes I'm also here in Helsinki area. 14:03 Hesburger has been a trouble in recent weeks due to Foodora's poorly planned campaign offering a 50% discount on Hesburger orders to pro users. The park with the little tower is called Sinebrychoff park after the businessman who founded the oldest brewery in the Nordics there. I can't read all the comments - but the locks on bridges is something young couples do. They carve or write their name letters on it and put the lock on the bridge
Temppeliaukion kirkko is one of the must see churches as it is so unique, one of a kind in the world. Used to live right next door to it but i have to admit... never visited, always thought, "i can do that tomorrow".... And McDonalds vs Hesburger is like comparing Lada vs Mercedes.. The fries are really good, and their sauces.. You can buy those sauces from grocery stores too, got their cucumber mayo in the fridge right now.
Let's not get overboard... while I prefer Hesburger over McDonald's, I wouldn't compare it Mercedes... Hesburger sauces and especially amount they use is kinda dividing factor, some people prefer their burgers way less sauce (nothing wrong with that. Each their own!) (their special mayonnaise sauces were how Hesburger set itself apart from its competitors initially).
Helsinki is a fine city, I lived there for almost 40 years on that Katajanokka island where the Orthodox Cathedral stands. It may be an exotic place in winter, but it is really a summer city with the sea and beautiful islands just minutes from the center. And like they say, the best thing about Helsinki is that it is so conveniently close to Stockholm....and it is truly close; If you fly you will land at Arlanda at the very minute your flight started - there is a one hour time difference, though. The Stockholm ferry you pointed out is still luxorious, If not quite new any more. Definitely worth a cruise.
Hopefully we will be able to come back in the summer and go on the ferry to Stockholm! I am sure both are amazing in the summer! Thanks for your comment :)

20 mins sounds very long for Hesburger, but maybe I mostly order foods that are commonly ordered so they have them ready in the buffer. Seems like the restaurant was empty, so maybe that's another reason for the long delay. I agree that it's better than McDonald's, but it's more expensive also. I would choose Hesburger any day.
Imagine raising your children here. Safe, they can go wherever on their own, ride public transport to friends or hobbies spend time adventuring put. Education is good and free even up to university. And they can become whatever they want. Equal opportunity is a big thing AND if they are ok with not pursuing career and working in Hese that is fine also.
There's very little salt in that water, it's barely even sea water. Also salt affects the freezing temp only slightly, 0.2 - 0.8 Celsius degrees. Driving in the winter is easy. Just use winter tires and keep the accelerating/breaking and direction changes suble. The hard part is when you can't see any of the road markings. Ketchup is free everywhere here. Never seen anybody pay for that.
Oh so interesting!! I guess we have had to pay for ketchup in most other countries in Europe, so we were expecting it in Finland too! Thanks for all the information :)
Welcome to Helsinki! Lived here my whole life (not in city center though.) I would recommed trying Bell pepper mayo (paprikamajoneesi) with fries in Hesburger, it's the best! Hesburger should be around the same price anywhere in Finland except for a few special places. McDonald's has actually gotten more expensive than Hesburger - used to be the other way around. I'm sure you have a lot to do, but if you want to explore the city, metro is a fun way to see parts of the city. In the center it goes underground, but when you get out of the center, it will mostly travel above ground. If you take the metro to Vuosaari from the central railway station, you can walk over to Cafe Kampela which is a small cafe by the frozen sea. Also nice place in the summer. It is also possible to see auroras in Helsinki, but solar activity has been low past couple weeks. And it's not gonna be the same as up North.

Old factory town.
Finns generally think that lihapiirakka (meat pie) is not the fanciest fast food around lol. You should have small sausages (nakki) inside it and lotttts of side stuff. Makes a good hangover snack with plenty of calories.

That Jacob was hit by the snow from the roof doesn't sound very good (unless it was just the powder snow carried by the wind). There can be some ice also falling so it's not safe to be right below. Wasn't there any fence or line to prevent going near the building?
Exactly. There should be somebody on the street to warn out the snow droppers with whistle when there are pedestrians coming, so they don't drop any on the peoples head. I wonder why there were't any, there should've been. That's the safety norm here. Luckily no harm done.
Don't jump on to the ice, people have drowned right next to market square. There are better burger places, new ones keep popping up in downtown area. Matter of taste, I suppose. Behind Ateneum. If you wanted to go to museums like that, they are usually closed on Mondays though.
Might be better than McDonald's? It is! Everyone I know says Hesburger is better and either never go to McDonald's or only rarely if the closest "Hese" is too far off route. edit: Or at least in my opinion McDonald's is the worst option for fast food in Finland.
0:45 the church is in neo-Gothic style which appeared in the mid-18th century but was most popular in the 19th century . The city itself (Helsinki) was founded in 1550 by King Gustav Vasa (Swedish king) .
@@xhorus88 Russia has never built anything except corruption, lawlessness and banditry. The Russian Empire was ruled not by Russians but by Mongols and Germans. The history of Russia is history written on the orders of the Romanovs, who took over the throne from their predecessors in the 17th century, and on their orders in 1682, the family trees of the Boyars, including the Romanovs, were burned on Red Square in Moscow. Later, in the 18th century, the situation only worsened. Peter I invited the Germans to rewrite Russian history. And it was the Germans who committed mass forgery. Apparently, convoys full of confiscated monastic books and other written materials arrived in the newly built St. Petersburg, but all traces of them have since disappeared. Architecture was also devastated, frescoes were pulled down, inscriptions were scraped, and, one might say, material relics of the past were destroyed.
All Hesburger spiced mayo sauces are amazing that they use in their burgers! However the wait times are pretty long as their employees are quite lazy😂 Also quite expensive considering its still pretty crap quality food. Also probably right call not going to Suomenlinna in the winter if you maybe are planning to come back later. Its cold af there in the winter often. In my opinion Helsinki is overall way better in the summer. Tons of small parks and a lot of sea shore where to hang out. And mid summer the nights are really light so you can be outside at mid night and its not dark at all.
Hi friend!! That sounds so fun! Unfortunately we are no longer in Helsinki as we post our videos a few weeks after we will them :( thanks so much for thinking of us though :)
Finnish is a rather new language in Finland, it was pretty much only spoken in the eastern parts of Finland while the southern and western parts were completely Swedish speaking. Just 100 years ago Swedish was spoken by almost 90% of people in Helsinki. Swedish was made the official language in the 13th century while Finnish wasn't an official language until 1919 and in 1922 both Swedish and Finnish were written into the constitution as equal national languages.
Finnish actually became an official language in 1863, but Swedish remained the main language of higher education until the early 1900's. Only very narrow strips of the country by the coast were Swedish speaking. In the early 1900's, roughly 13% of the Finnish population had Swedish as their native language; today the figure is a bit over 5%. To be more precise about Helsinki, in 1870 the figeres were 74% Swedish, 26% Finnish, but already in 1890 it was roughly 50% - 50%. You need to go further back to history to reach the point of 90% Swedish.
So you think southwestern Finland was empty when crusading Swedish colonists arrived 12th century? Swedish is youngest language in Finland by far. Finns populated southern Finland already in Roman times. Claiming that Finnish is a new language in Finland is ludicrous.

Loved ypur reaction,so fun to hear you in the end "This tastes better than McDonalds"..:-)
It was so delicious!! Thanks for watching friend :)
Thankfully there was no ice in it, just light snow 🙌🏼❄️ we saw tons of fences around areas, but not in this particular area. Thanks for watching :)
Don't jump on to the ice, people have drowned right next to market square. There are better burger places, new ones keep popping up in downtown area. Matter of taste, I suppose. Behind Ateneum. If you wanted to go to museums like that, they are usually closed on Mondays though.
Oh wow, thank you for letting us know! And we will have to try another burger place too! Thanks for watching :)
Its quite common to have ice rinks all around the city during winter.
Ps. Helsinki is nice, but Tampere is nicer 😅
That is so cool!! We will have to go to Tampere! :)
Might be better than McDonald's? It is! Everyone I know says Hesburger is better and either never go to McDonald's or only rarely if the closest "Hese" is too far off route.
edit: Or at least in my opinion McDonald's is the worst option for fast food in Finland.
Hesburger is so delicious!! Definitely much fresher than McDonald’s. I wish I was eating it right now haha! Thanks for watching :)
The Baltic Sea doesn't have a lot of salt in it.
That makes sense! Thanks for watching :)
New sub here 🎉
Yay thanks so much for subscribing :)
The pigeons 😂😂 glad Helsinki doesn’t approve of pigeon feeding.
Helsinki gets me like no other city does 😂
0:45 the church is in neo-Gothic style which appeared in the mid-18th century but was most popular in the 19th century . The city itself (Helsinki) was founded in 1550 by King Gustav Vasa (Swedish king) .
Thanks so much for the information :)
though the city itself was built by the russian empire
Architecture was also devastated, frescoes were pulled down, inscriptions were scraped, and, one might say, material relics of the past were destroyed.
imo helsinki is 100% the safest capitol in the world.
I'd feel way safer in Taipei for example.
We felt so safe in Helsinki!! We love it
When u guys coming to albania great country good food +cheap prices
We do hope to come there soon!! It looks amazing 😍
Hi
Hi there! Thanks so much for watching :)
We definitely want to come back in the summer and experience it then! Thanks so much for your comment :)
"What south of finland is like". Greeting from NOT helsinki southern finland :(

Lapland and Helsinki are the most un-Finnish places in Finland,
and the ugliest.
Where would you recommend we visit?
Hi guys you wanna hang out here in Helsinki?? :D
Hi friend!! That sounds so fun! Unfortunately we are no longer in Helsinki as we post our videos a few weeks after we will them :( thanks so much for thinking of us though :)
Not Esplanade Park, just Esplanade. No gloves, you don’t live here.
👍🏼
Very annoying people. Please don't move to Finland
Lol😂
Actually Helsinki is ugly city ! Not much to do there ! For you everywhere you go is dream destination 😂😂😂😂
True, we always try to be glass half full people :) thanks for watching!
BS! Literally EVERYTHING you wrote was incorrect!
@@timoterava7108 Jep jep, me nyt ulisemaan jonnekin muualle!

Ei tarvitsisi "ulista", jos kaltaisesi koulupudokkaat eivät sepustaisi puutaheinää...
So you think southwestern Finland was empty when crusading Swedish colonists arrived 12th century? Swedish is youngest language in Finland by far. Finns populated southern Finland already in Roman times. Claiming that Finnish is a new language in Finland is ludicrous.
I've subscribed to you on Instagram and I look forward to seeing more exclusive content and videos from you.😊
