      Agree. The amount of time and material spent doing this could have been avoided with a simple run to Home Depot or Lowes to pick up a simple purpose-built clamp that costs about $5 and takes 60 seconds to install. Counting the time spent driving to HD/Lowes and installing it would still be a fraction of what this guy expended. And cheaper, too.

      Just put the ends of the hose in a cup of hot water, make them go soft and stretchy and twist them over an off-cut of copper pipe. I love to see people improvising. Improvising can make use of what would otherwise be waste. It's a great way to keep the mind active and think outside the box. Anyone can buy a solution, not everyone can MacGyver a solution. It's true empowerment to be able to solve problems in less than ideal circumstances. 💪👍👊♥️

    • @robertwhittington8111
      @robertwhittington8111 Рік тому

      First off it's not MaGyvering it when you have access to pvc cutters, a heat gun, pvc glu, a new sander disc and a beautiful workbench.
      As for the waste, he wasted a good bit of pvc pipe there. If he was trying to conserve materials, why did he cut such a long piece of pipe to begin with. He cut a 10" to 12" piece when 5" would have been plenty.
      Since that was obviously not a high pressure application, he also wasted the 2 pieces that he glued on the ends when he could have just roughed the pipe since he also used glue. He could have have created a bevel on the shoulders by rubbing it on a brick, concrete or even a rock.
      The final piece was longer than needed for the entire project. Considering all the pipe he had leaning in the corner, I'll bet he threw away the pieces of pipe that he cut off. Even if he didn't throw them away he now has short and pretty useless pieces of pipe.
      The materials he used also cost more than a coupler, so he also wasted time and money.
      .

    • @dustintaylor2083
      @dustintaylor2083 Рік тому

      @@robertwhittington8111 My main point was that unconventional thinking is a virtue. Anyone can buy a solution. Using what you have on hand is literally what MacGyver did. He was doing a demo, not an actual repair. Hypothetically, something like this could allow someone to make a repair without a coupler on hand and use what would otherwise be waste material.

    Para facilitar el flujo del agua , tal vez sea aconsejable formar avellanados ( conos ) en el diametro interior , por ambos extremos del adaptador y por estetica , en vez de usar alambre , instalaria amarras plasticas , saludos ..

    Es más fácil conseguir el cople, que el cemento para pegar el tubo la secadora las pinzas el alambre y el pedazo de tubo , pero creo no es usar la inteligencia, porque era solo calentar muy poco la manguera y meter al tubo y listo. Una disculpa por la crítica pero no pude evitarlo.

      Nicolas Aguirre, cuando se le insertaron los tubos de PCV, pense lo mismo que ud le pongo calor y no hay necesidad de amarrar con alambre. A mi me gusta hacer plomeria en mi casa y me parecio muy buena la idea. Me fascino la cortadora de PVC pero no he visto eso aqui en RD. Al leer los comentarios me justifique diciendome que por eso recojo esos recortes que los vecinos botan.JJJJeee.!!!!!

    Complicado todo: segun el video necesitas una pistola industrial de aire caliente, una tijera para cortar tubos de plastico, pegamento para tubos de plastico, alambre, alicate; además del procedimiento para dilatar y cortar los extremos del tubo de plastico. Usa un cabo de tubo, une los extremos de la manguera y fija con dos abrazaderas metalicas de tornillo ( unica herramienta: un destornillador). Mas segura la union, sin escape de agua

    Well, instead of just buying an adapter he had to buy a piece of pvc--and he had to buy a stock piece, longish--then buy glue, and spend forever fooling around cutting and sanding and heating. Two hours later he's got it. Way to go. Thanks for showing us a way to waste an afternoon.
