    Looks like you are ending the year on a high note!! I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Rainwilds as you read on. And surprisingly, AFFC was actually quite enjoyable for me, especially compared to book 5, lol.
    Also, hope I don't come across as a creepy internet stranger, but your daughter is BEAUTIFUL!! ❤
    Take it easy and happy reading, Colin! 🥰

      I’m certainly trying to! I did enjoy Dragon Keeper a decent amount, and will be starting Haven here relatively soon. I’m glad to hear you enjoyed AFFC! I am also enjoying it so far, and I hope that trend continues. And thank you, she is beautiful ♥️. Happy reading to you as well, Esmay!

    Awesome stuff Colin! That was so cool to see your daughter at the end. I’m still in a Malazan slump lol. I hope you continue enjoying ASOIAF. it’s such a good series.

      She asked to be in it, and I said I think I have an idea to get you in there! Haha.
      What Malazan book are you on? And I love ASOIAF so far. I think I might need to be doing it physically instead of audio though.

    • @BookishChas
      @BookishChas Рік тому

      @@ColinsCornerYT I definitely recommend physical for ASOIAF. Audio might be good for a reread. I DNFd halfway through Memories of Ice. Not because I didn’t like it, but because I was so burned out from Deadhouse Gates lol. That book was a slogging chore.

  • @SouravUldyssian

    Your December is stacked. Malazan, ASOIAF and ROTE at the same time, wow. I myself liked A Feast for Crows a little less than the ones before but it was still excellent.
    Hope you enjoy MOI all the way through. And again, really sorry for the spoiler that day. I am always hyper cautious while commenting and check out chapters before saying anything, but dropped the ball on that day and screwed up, as the chapters were next to each other and got confused. Will be extra cautious from now.

    • @ColinsCornerYT
      @ColinsCornerYT  Рік тому

      I didn’t know you were an ASOIAF fan as well, that’s great! MOI is off to an absolutely fantastic start. And it’s okay man I love your enthusiasm and excitement about the series!

    • @SouravUldyssian
      @SouravUldyssian Рік тому

      @@ColinsCornerYT I read ASOIAF in college, some 12-13 years back, even before the show came out. Actually I found ASOIAF because I was looking for things to read similar to Malazan at that time. I LOVED ASOIAF, but not as much as Malazan (even considering that I had read only 4 Malazan books at that time and didn't understand half of it). I won't say I am a big fan of ASOIAF but I do love the books. I haven't read A Dance with Dragons, and don't plan to unless the series is completed, which has very less chance now.

  • @bookswithnate
    @bookswithnate Рік тому

    Agree with you on ASOIAF! Only read A Game of Thrones so far but definitely rings true on it being episodic. Can't wait to hear more of your thoughts on MOI too. Happy to see you're out of the slump, let's get that bread

    I did recently read Mongrels, and as a huge werewolf fan, I was pleased with it. It's not really a horror novel as much as it's a coming of age/reimagining of the werewolf story. Though don't be mistaken, there is some truly nightmarish stuff in that book.
    If you want a more traditional horror story, The Only Good Indians was one that I found was engaging, and it was my first SGJ read. As for LaValle, I would suggest starting with The Ballad of Black Tom.
    Great video as always.

    • @ColinsCornerYT
      @ColinsCornerYT  Рік тому

      I have The Only Good Indians on hold on Libby right now, so I definitely plan on reading that. And I think the next time I head to Barnes & Noble I will be snagging me a copy of Mongrels if they have it.
      Thanks for the suggestion on LaValle. Lone Women was a mixed bag for me I thought it started strong and loved the plot conceptually but it ended up falling flat for me.

    Was that your daughter at the end? Beautiful girl!! Don’t believe the A Feast for Crows haters. Haha! I thought all 5 books were incredible upon first read. I recommend reading ASOIAF visually. There’s no hurry, as you said, and Martin’s character voices are perfectly distinct. Your internal narrator will add much more vibrancy to the experience. Happy reading, Colin!
