    Dude. What a stacked lineup of reads this month. I’m thrilled you’ve joined us Abercrombie stans, cuz better late than never. There’s so much great stuff to enjoy there.
    I really need to try Swan Song it seems.
    And FOOL’S ASSASSIN are you kidding me, what a stunner. Kudos indeed to the Elderlings fans who don’t spoil it!!

    • @ColinsCornerYT

      Yessss next time you’re in the mood for post-apocalyptic give Swan Song a read man!
      I cannot wait to chat with you about Fool’s Assassin. Holy moly dude. Just utter craziness.

    I'm glad you enjoyed Dune.
    Pacey is so good! You are right about the rest. He excels thanks to Abercrombie's writing.
    I have a nice copy of Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. I need to read it. But as you said, it is a big book.
    I almost picked up that exact Chrichton book! I have read all three of them but it was way back in junior high. The one I liked the most was The Terminal Man. It is an interesting time capsule about the nueroscience "what-ifs" of the late 70s mixed with a thriller.
    The Great Train Robbery is one of the books I want to read again. I don't remember anything beyond it being a historical fiction crime thriller.
    I would start with one of those three. Prey was later in his career and I really enjoyed his older stuff but like I said I need to dive back into his work. It has been a while.
    Great video!

      @ColinsCornerYT  8 місяців тому +1

      Thanks so much for your Crichton recs! Thats so funny we almost snagged the same edition!
      As for JSMN, my only advice would be to just start it when you feel like you’re in the mood for it if that makes sense. I think the first time I started it I wasn’t really in the mood, but as it was part of a book club type of thing it wasn’t entirely up to me. I ended up loving it though!
      Thanks so much for watching and interacting with the channel!

    I share your love for Robin Hobb. Fool's Assassin is incredible. Her writing is like nothing else out there. For something that feels like a really long prologue, FA is unbelievably good. Depending on my day it might be my favorite book in the series.

    I'm a week late, but I'm very happy to hear you talk so positively about Swan Song. It's one of my favorite books and McCammon is one of my favorite writers. His entire bibliography is so incredibly strong, you're going to adore Boy's Life when you get to it. :)

      @ColinsCornerYT  8 місяців тому +1

      @ColinsCornerYT Yeah Boy's Life is pretty long at 600 pages, but it's significantly shorter than Swan Song. Not all of McCammon's books are chunkers, though. If you want to try McCammon's shorter work Mine is a really great one.

    Did they learn multiplication in TIMES SQUARE?
    Swan Song was amazing, perhaps my favorite of McCammon's work. I think it topped Boy's Life, but not by much. Both got their tear jerk moments.
    I'm torn between holding off Fitz&Fool trilogy (because once it's over, it's over 😔) or giving in to the itch and dive right in. I'll have to see how I feel once I finish Streets of Laredo (which is balls-to-wall craaaazy). I forget if you read Lonesome Dove yet or not. But Laredo is a fantastic sequel.
    Lastly, I'm looking forward to finally getting into First Law myself. I was gonna give it go once I wrap up Realm/Elderlings.

    Colin, that is some recognizable Crichton. I haven’t read any of those so I don’t know which is the best to start with but The Andromeda Strain and Prey sound like great plots. If I were in your shoes, I would pick the Andromeda Strain. There is a sequel written by a different author in 2019 called the Andromeda Evolution. I haven’t read it either but it might be a cool duology.
