I've left a comment in the past but to AR builders you don't have to go with 308 or 6.5 Creedmoor in AR 10s.
I am building for sale AR 10 uppers in all of the WSM magnums and in wildcat cartridges or uncommon chamberings.
My own AR 10's I hunt with are chambered on 6mm-284 win ---- 6.5-284 Norma and a big bore of a wildcat 375-300 WSM.
I have now an order from a man in the Midwest for his AR 10 upper to be in 250 Savage and why not when AR 10s can be bought in 22-250 and the 250 Savage is the parent case of the 22-250.
If you want to think outside of common cartridges chamberings just check to see if the cartridge fits in the AR10 magazine if it does you can chamber the AR for it.
Chamber reamers and head space gauges bought from Pacific Tool & gauge.
Pac Nor barreling will make your barrels if you chat with Jay and send him a drawing of the AR barrel you want made.
If you are an experienced reloader making a case necked up or down for the AR 10 then no problem your idea is Highly possible if the cartridge fits into the AR 10 magazine.
Maybe you would like the AR 10 in a 300 WSM? yes those are very common done and even on UA-cam are videos of AR 10 300 WSM being shot.
I have a new AR 15 coming up for sale chambered in the Nazi STG 44 7.92x33 Kurz cartridge.
You can have the final metal work done by Dead shot barrels in Oregon or Mark Manson in Arizona @ Ph.928-614-0213 .

If you every are in the Pacific NW then want to shoot some of my not common chambered ARs and do some video on these then come on over !
You might like to shoot the AR 10 in 375-300 WSM that has the power of the 375 H&H Magnum.
It kind of rattles your teeth shooting 375 Cal 300 grain bullets @ 2600 FPS from a Pac Nor barrel of 25.5 inches.
I am going to call my AR 15s in 7.92x33 Kurz the Storm Trooper AR and have a laser engraver doing to do the name on the uppers.
You can look up on UA-cam another business building and selling AR 10s in 458 WSM.
First tip, wear eye protection when installing the detent pin and spring. First round fired is often those detent pins.
While I invested later in brass punches, my first build used a chop stick.
If you’re using an aero build kit, the safety selector spring will need to be trimmed to fit.
On my very first AR build the angel tree topper on the Christmas tree caught the detent when it went flying.
I've heard the recommendation to install the detent in a pillow case or garbage bag so you can catch it if it goes wild.

Got my SBR paperwork back for the M5 Aero so this series will be a great help. .308 is a different beast than when building ar 15 stuff.

Just got the Geissele ssp for my m5 build. Can't wait to try it out.
If you installed the ejection port door before you installed the barrel and barrel nut. You don't have to hammer the ejection port door rod in.
Tip to install the pivot pin, use a 3/32 allen wrench, push the detent all the way down. And then use the pivot pin to engage the detent and pull the allen wrench out. At the same time push the pivot pin in and done.

@ 11:40 ----> I did the same with my AR-10 build, except I put the finger lever at 180° to the thumb lever so I push the lever forward & down with my trigger finger to SAFE. 😉
For the easiest detent install I use a 1/4 carriage pin with multiple holes. Insert the pin from the left align one of the holes with the hole of the lower. Insert the spring and detent push in place with a small Allen wrench rotate the Allen wrench to the 12 o clock position this will lock the detent in place . Now aline the take down pin with the carriage pin ensure the slotted portion of the take down pin is aligned with the detent push the take down pin on threw .

Trigger tech straight bow 3.5lb duty trigger is my favorite trigger for my AR 15 followed close in second place with cmc flat face trigger in 2.5 or 3.5lbs. also for a ambi safety the Anderson is a good choice its cheaper than just about everything and is shaved for the dominant hand to not interfere with switching on and off.
I use the triggertech diamond at 1.25 pound pull. I believe the ar10 ones are a 2.25 or 1.75 but i also use the diamonds in my ar10 builds as well. Got a few of the liberty editions on sale a couple years back for like 100 a piece now they are almost 200. But that ar10 diamond was like 325. Also they are adjustable so if thats to low for u it can be raised i cranked it down though so it goes off with a feather. Also have a couple elfton ar10 triggers but i like the triggertech diamonds the most
Just get the aero upper and lower with the screw. You still have to worry about the pivot pin but that is it.
So if you want to add length from 16 to 20 inches for increased either accuracy or increased velocity, all you have to do is add a barrel with the right gas block to get along.

I can not find a polymer grip that will fit my DPMS LR-308 lower without leaving a gap between the beavertail and lower. Not looking for rubber or a modular, just a single piece plastic. Any recommendations? Thank you

Question - what's specific about moly grease? Would heavy duty wheel bearing grease work?
Moly is short for molybdenum. It has very good lubricity and high resistance to heat breakdown. If grease has moly in it, it will say so.
Does the barrel nut come with the barrel or the handguard? Im asking because it seems handguards can be picky about what barrel nut they will and will not work with.
Most quality brands include the barrel nut with the handguard.
Hey buddy can u tell me a spec or name used to explain 1 type of ar10 upper vs another? The reason i ask is my diamondback db10 has a angled cut on the back of the upper where it comes in contact to push in the rear pin. I bought a psa ar10 20 inch barrel and upper went to place it on my db lower and the psa has a curved body on the rear at the pin instead of the angled cut. Just want to make sure i dont make that mistake again didnt know if one is known as something different then the other or do u just need to look at it and there is no name for it. The one u are showing us on is rounded like the psa its the diamondback that is different
So I think that your DB is an ArmaLite style upper. The PSA is a DPMS style AR10 upper.
@@At3tactical yeah that totes it. I found out after a couple days of searching. My db is absolutely the armalight version of the ar10 and what i bought was a dpms upper. Went to 4 gun shops couldnt find one so i went back to Psa and bought another lower. Was just planning on using it for the db10 lower and swap uppers for scope or thermal instead of pulling a scope off to put the other on. However on psa if u type in dpms lower u get 0 hits for the search they simply call them 1st gen 2nd gen 3rd gen. I hope the picture they displayed is exactly what im gonna get cause it had the rounded part above the rear takedown pin. Should have it by monday and i should be ready to rock. Thanks for responding i must of typed that question 10 times atleast trying to find out a type or code they were called. Have a good day buddy again thank u.

Purchased, what I thought, was the perfect upper for my build. Put it all together and then the physical upper was out of spec! It kept sending the charging handle back like it was a reciprocating charging handle! I sent it back, and the looked it over, and replaced it with a supposed proper upper. The lugs for the take down pins are out of spec on the new upper, I have to take it apart and put it back with a punch and hammer! Wont even bother with them again! I'm going to get a pa10 gen3 upper to replace this current one instead. I've yet to have spec issues with palmetto parts.
I have a Bear Creek .308 upper. Do you know if it is compatible with 5D Tactical lowers. What lower did you start out with?

What you do is rent a USP postal box in Oregon, then you go to 80% arms to buy the 80% jig and buy the 80% lowers to have sent to your Oregon USP mailbox which are like $30 something a year rent.
You will need to buy the router and cutter bits also.
I can also fill out a post office card to divert your mailbox mail to you in Washington because the post offices don't know what is in your mail.
Some UPS mail offices also have mailboxes for rent.
What Washington state has done is a direct illegal violation of the constitutional law for the 2nd Amendment and was just ruled by the supreme country 80% lowers and building your own guns is protected under the constitutional law of the 2nd Amendment.
This is how communist is creeping in steps to fully take over America, these little steps and using criminals and their crime to say look - look we commie law makers need to pass more laws that little by little are meant to become communism control over you!

Aero Precision M5 is based on a DPMS LR308 not an AR10. Next best name is AR308 but calling it an Armalite Rifle is also incorrect. The M5 also uses a "high pattern" upper receiver that uses the high pattern hand guard if you don't want a mismatch in rail height. Most true AR10 parts are not compatible with a DPMS pattern and the industry is causing all kinds of problems by not using standard naming conventions.

There is the Armalite AR 10 pattern and the LR - DPMS AR 10 pattern.
Armalite is no longer available, and parts are good luck to find them

RA Triggers are absolute trash. Every one I've installed has caused problems. I stick with CMC now.

I’m the exact opposite. Went through 2 CMC and had issues. Got an RA Blitz and haven’t had a problem since
I used a RA trigger in an AR10 build using DPMS LR308 high pattern with 6.5 CM chambering. The trigger is absolutely fantastic! I also get to string all that nomenclature together in this comment which seems to irritate some folks.

Interesting opinion and definitely appreciate you chiming in and sharing it! This Fridays video might add some layers into the whole industry's shift towards using these shortened nomenclatures for all modular semi auto firearms.
Just looking at the mountains of "AR-10" labeled gear these days (because we have a warehouse full), you're seeing less and less need to call out "AR-10" vs "308" vs "DPMS" vs ... Whatever else we want to call it. The "AR-10" nomenclature is increasingly becoming a household name and we continually keep moving towards some kind of standardization.

The video is solid no complaints on it of course, that the complaint I had was for what it is a AR 308DPMS as you and I know there’s a lot of new builders coming out, which makes me happy that you’re making good videos. How to assemble them provide it Nazi UA-cam allows it I think the next video you should do is the definition between the difference between a A.R. 10 in AR 308DPMS but Brownell’s Smith busters did a very good job explaining the difference between those two systems but I must digress I didn’t mean to be insulting by any means, but you called it a A.R. 10 I took it as a fellow builder as a insult it felt like a liberal Democrat giving their definition of assault rifle for which it is not is a sporting rifle. That is the perception that I saw it as it will be sad that someone bought a AR 308 DPMS lower and bought an actual A.R. 10 upper and finds out that they don’t fit together and then they call you out on the channel that will be funny. @@12345678971926I certainly appreciate proper nomenclature. There are certainly differences not only with caliber but with brand of piece parts. But speaking as I new builder of my own rifles, I feel that those esoteric distinctions only muddy the waters and possibly intimidate someone from delving deeper or not bother in the first place. Even despite my lifelong experience with weapons, it's not important enough for me to expend energy to do make the distinction. I will continue to refer to the general platform as AR10, regardless of manufacturer or caliber. No offense intended, just sharing my perspective. This is a phenomenal video, AT3!!!
