I just bought the civic hybrid sedan. Great car so far. I’ve driven Hondas since the 90s and this one is definitely fun and the interior is really top notch for the civic.

Your review and analysis are spot on Kirk. I did the Camry, vs Accord vs Civic comparison and went with the Civic Sport Touring hatch which I have had for a month. The utility of the hatch and interior build quality were primary drivers. I'm second guessing myself on the quietness of the Accord, it was pretty serene. Oh well its a done deal now. The regen paddles are kind of a distraction, I don't think I will remember to use them very often. I got 48 mpg on the first fill up, and that makes me happy 😀

Kirk; this why I’m hoping they can slightly bump the power on the Prelude. Yes I want a manual but if they can give the Prelude this powertrain and make it lighter than the civic; it will be a quick car.

I appreciate the direction Honda is going with the civic and accord. Keeping the civic more performance/enthusiast focused while the accord turns towards refinement.
I do wish they made a cheaper, more base-level hybrid trim with smaller wheels and less bells & whistles for the civic/hatchback though. I understand the civics niche is more performance based, but I think many people would appreciate a more affordable ‘basic’ hybrid trim

I can only suggest the Camry LE as the better option if you genuinely required a larger vehicle. I personally purchased the 25 Sport Touring Sedan, and it checks all the boxes in what I wanted in a car. Interestingly, I discovered that the Civic exhibited slightly better ride quality compared to the Accord Touring, primarily due to the Accord’s 19-inch wheels. While the Toyota is technically more fuel-efficient, Honda has achieved an exceptional equilibrium between efficiency, driving enjoyment, and refinement.

If you live in a hot climate having the rear vents for rear passengers is huge on Camry and Accord. If you never have people back there, then civic is great!

The floor vents under the front seats help keep the rear passengers somewhat comfortable . But extra air vents behind the console should be added in the upper trims at least.

Considering that Toyota makes more reliable hybrids, how many miles would you expect the hybrid battery on the civic to last? Also, I read one concern with the civic hybrid is that the direct injection will lead to carbon build up, would you happen to know how serious of a problem that would be? I may have the chance in a year or so to get a hybrid civic. I currently have 2023 Civic LX with the 2.0 engine and CVT. I like it but as I understand it the hybrid will still be more reliable. Any information you can share would be great. I enjoy watching your content.

How does the Civic do at highway speeds in wind? Wheelbase alone is enough for many to get the Accord. Longer wheelbase just makes cars more stable in all driving situations but especially on freeway. Cost of insurance might be another factor. The Civic is probably not as safe, in general. And the Accord probably not as safe as a CRV, etc.

There is a reason why the accord is 10k more than the civic hybrid. Should it cost that much more? Probably not. But is it more refined and quieter? 100 percent. The backseat area is absolutely cavernous by comparison to the civic. I have a 24 accord hybrid touring and I would not trade it in for the civic hybrid touring. Especially when you can get up to 5k on the accord in some areas which is what I got off on mine. The crv hybrid is also a great option but the tech absolutely sucks by comparison to the accord and it is in no way as smooth or as fast as the accord when it’s lugging 400 more pounds. There’s a reason why the accord is a top 10 car.
I have also owned 718 Spyder and 2018 911 C4S and to be completely honest the steering feel in the accord, while not in the same field as Porsche, is still pretty damn good for a 40k car. It has the best feel, not too light or heavy and actually loads up in corners. Pretty shocked by this.
