    those look more like hypertrophic scars, which happen during the healing process. keliods are usually much bigger or extend beyond the piercing site. A hypertrophic scar looks similar to a keloid. Hypertrophic scars are more common and will go away . They don't get a big as keloids, and may fade with time. keliods do not go away .Keloids are considered a benign tumor, but they are mainly a cosmetic nuisance and never become malignant.
    just to clarify. lol. Everyone always call them Keloids so we all know that means a bump at your piercing site, however its best to know the difference

    Tea tree oil definitely works on keloids but only during the early stage of its formation. If you use it as soon as you discover it then it definitely helps. It helped me with my nose piercing. As for keloids that have been left untreated it is not effective and those are the ones that have to be surgically removed.

  • @Nick889999
    @Nick889999 10 років тому +11

    u have a hypertrophic scar, not a keloid. There's a difference. Keloids can't be treated with tea tree oil and most of the time they need to be surgically removed. But hypertrophic scars on the other hand, tea tree oil does help.

      This is not true tea tree can help reduce inflation inside of the keloid in turn reducing the size, I have them but as far as the scar tissue you do need injections for that , but the tea tree helps but does not cure it on it’s own. and rarely do doctors remove unless it’s huge because of chance of re keloiding, and location comes into play as well. I just don’t want any who has keloids to think that tea tree won’t help at all.

    I fell and skidded across a road and my knee ended up getting a keloid scar (says my doctor) and because it's in my knee I feel really insecure about about it as I go swimming and wear skirts to go school and wear shorts if it's sunny but my mum took me to the medical centre and my doctor told me that I might need surgery but because it isn't life threatening it may take a while for me to get a phone call (almost 2 years I think I've been waiting a phone call) but throughout the time that I have had my scar, I have learned to accept it as part of my body and I don't really feel insecure about it anymore because I can't feel it and I forget it's there but I would be so thankful for it to go away (so would most people) but it might grow back my doctor said so I don't know what to do

    You're talking about hypertrophic scaring. They're small flesh colored or red/brown colored bumps (look like boils sometimes) from a fresh piercing. It's scar issue trying to heal. Keloids develop once the piercing is healed and the bump didn't go away. Tea tree oil can help with hypertrophic scaring but I don't think it helps with keloids because the piercing/skin is already healed. Thanks for the tips! I need to try tea tree oil for my hypertrophic scaring. 😢

    I seen this video along time ago when I was searching how to get rid of the one i had on my cheek piercing, ugh it was getting so annoying, I was starting to hide it when I would go out with my hand and it was just getting too much, but this is one of the videos I seen, so eventually I said it wouldn't hurt to try so I went out and got me a bottle of tree tea oil, and I would apply it it when I would wake up, and than again when I laid down to sleep, I did that for about a month, and now it's gone 😃 I'm soo glad I decided to go out and get this oil, I still apply it even though it's back to normal whenever I get out of the shower, because it's said to kill germs so I'll apply it to make sure there is no germs lingering around, but thanks for this video it helped me make the choice of getting the oil and part of discovering this oil I love it.

    • @babykaylene99
      @babykaylene99 9 років тому

      Tiffany valdivia when you first starting the tea tree oil how old were your keloids? and how long did it take for the keloid to go away? also did you put the oil straight on your skin or did you mix it with water?

    • @Tiffany11116
      @Tiffany11116 9 років тому +7

      babykaylene99 hi, well when I first got em pierced it was no problem at all til about a month later and after about a couple weeks I started looking up videos and went and got some tea tree oil so the keloid was about a couple weeks and at first I just used straight tea tree oil for about three weeks and it went away, but after awhile using just the tea tree oil it started drying my skin so I would get some tea tree oil on a Qtip and run it under the water and than put it on, because they said it depends how sensitive your skin is some Pple can use just the oil with no problems and for other Pple the oil may be too strong so they have to dylute it with water,
      But having them for about 7 months I decided to remove my piercings first starting with the right side because my left wasn't giving me any trouble the right side the keloid would go away and come back repeatedly and one morning I woke up to see that my whole right side of my face had swelled and sense I already had a deep enough dimple which is the whole reason I got them done I waited til the swelling went down and took it out, I didn't want to, but it was such a relief.
      I left my left side on for about couple more months til I seen the keloid on that one which would go away and come back also, so from experience on how my right side acted I just today took that one out before it swelled up, so I guess it's all up to how you're body takes the piercings if it reacts or doesn't.. I would of kept them for as I was able too, but can't deal with one day their fine to waking up to see my face had swelled up, but taking them out was the best decision I made, a hard one but good one, I would always put some oil on after getting out the shower just to make sure it killed the germs, and I applied it all around the area, and on the bar, and than I would take a dry Qtip and slightly take off all the excess oil.
      Sorry I wrote a lot just figured I'd let you know about my expirence, but they did leave lovely dimples 😊

    Thank you for this video, but I still have some questions. Do you have to do antibacterial soap AND the salt soaks? Or one or the other? Can I move the piercing around to clean it properly? Do I put the oil only on the bump or can I put it inside the piercing? There are so many different opinions on this, I just wanted to know from your experience how you handled it. Thank you!

    You should never dilute an essential oil with water. Dilute essential oils with a carrier oil such as fractionate coconut oil, or even olive oil. If you use doTERRA melaleuca or tea tree oil, it does not stink and it does not have to be diluted. This brand is 100% pure oil. I bought a brand at the drug store and it stunk so bad I couldn't stand to use it.

    The info could have been given in less than 2 minutes, not nearly 8, if this young woman did not waste so much time fancying herself. I watched another one on the same subject which was far more beneficial and over and done with in 2 mins. Also, the picture of her ear with the keloids is so blurred that one can not actually judge if there was an significant improvement at all after using the tea tree oil. in short, stop being so narcissistic and get straight to the point, girl. In today's world, time is money!
    For those who will develop a rash or irritation to undiluted tea tree oil, make sure it's diluted in warm water. It's not just for the smell, as this woman mentions, but to reduce its potency and allow people to use it, even if they are sensitive to it.

    My girlfriend had a 'bump' on 2 piercings, one that formed on her nose stud and the other that formed on the exterior/top of her ear tip. She had the nose bump since she got the piercing like 3 months ago and the tip of the ear bump like 6 months. We tried everything everyone talks about here as remedies with no real results. We were recommended a product from a friend called Post-Pierce; we found them online and placed an order. The very day after she started using it we saw a noticeable size decrease and after 3 days after both 'bumps' were GONE! We were amazed!!!! We highly recommend it to friends now that we know. Hope this information helps those suffering with this; we know how frustrating it can be.

    Good stuff. I have issues with dry skin and hear that tea tree oil can be potent and to use diluted amount for moisturizing. I also use olive oil after SeaSaltSoak and my skin is happy. It sucks, but closer african decent people tend to be more prone to the huge keloids, and even with ear lobe piercings. I tend to take eons to heal and have such dry skin, it doesn't want to heal. Also, avoiding astringents and not using too high sea salt content definitely helped me! Thank you much sister!

    With so many people saying Tea Tree Oil actually works for Keloids, I bought a bottle. Really small for $11 where I got it from. (CVS store) No one said HOW EXACTLY to put the oil on, so I just dipped some into the palm of my hand, and spread it on the the keloid and around it. Will that work just as effectively? I really want to make sure I'm not doing it wrong.
    Congrats on getting rid of your keloid (if it really was a keloid). My doctors CONFIRMED mine were keloids. They are so ugly and sometimes they even hurt and itch. I'd do just about ANYTHING to get rid of them. My old doctor shrank my keloid on my ear to the point it's totally unnoticeable and it doesn't itch anymore at all either, but I have new insurance and the doctors don't help me with any medical problems that I actually care about. In short, the new doctors I have don't help me with my keloids.. they just tell me, "yes it's a keloid."
    I bought Tea Tree Oil even though I think if it was a real cure, it would have been given to me when I first showed the doctor the 1st keloid I had that I told them I want gone. I am using Tea Tree Oil now. I REALLY HOPE it works!

      Just spreading it on by hand seemed to work actually. After just the third day I already saw results in it getting smaller! Thanks for sharing the cure! I had one on my side-burn too and hated when the barber cut the sideburns too short cuz of the keloid. I used to get so nervous about getting hair cuts cuz of these ugly, disgusting, itchy keloids. Now, after being told for so many years by professional doctors that there is no cure keloids, I finally have hope!

      Barely have some on your finger tip or cotton swab and put it directly on the bump. Do not let it get inside the piercing. Leave it on. It will start to dry out the bump, and you may notice dry skin; this is the bump getting dehydrated and eventually, the bump will go away every dry layer at a time.

    I had came to this video just about a year ago, I had a Cancerous Tumor removed in 2009. Shorty after words I developed this huge awful keloid. I was initially going to write and say thank you for the information. This keloid was 3 inches long and 1/8 tall. I started using 100 % Tea Tree Oil and for the most part its flattened. What I did learn is that you can not get the oil sold in a CVS or a Rite Aid but from a health food supplier which sells 100% Put it on the keolid every 12 hours and you will be surprised of the outcome... So Thank You

      Den Mac Heyyyy! My ex had a tragus (sp?) piercing, and we put %100 tea tree oil on it every night with a q-tip, and it basically came off layer by layer, as each layer dried out, and did not come back. It does get hard, but that allowed us to use tweezers to peel each layer off. She has a pretty high pain tolerance, but didn't complain at all about any discomfort once it dried. Hope that helps :)

    I have no keloid yet but I have a small patch that looks like a forming keloid and if I use tea tree oil will it take care of everything? Will No keloid will form? Can someone tell me if they had similar issues. Thx.
