I love how he is in general. He reminds me of my cardiologist as well as my heart surgeon. I feel safe in their care and I’m actually having heart surgery in under 12 hours from now which is my second. My first was a bypass in January and now I’m having an ASD Closure both out of the Toronto General Hospital which is a teaching hospital. They have animals that visit prior to surgery to help calm you as well as a volunteer program that only previous heart patients like myself who come and talk to newer patients because they went through the same thing! The patient who died may have had that heart attack whether he did or didn’t do the surgery. I really feel for him because you can see how this still genuinely hurts him. 😢❤

So happy to hear a reputable doc speak on BII. Ruined my life…got them a month before they came back on the market in 2006 as part of a study. No follow up from the study (not even a phone call) and when I got extremely ill in 2015, Vanderbilt refused to give me my medical records. Finally got them and turns out I was given the wrong implants, lots of things in there I never agreed to. As soon as I realized it may be BII, I had them taken out asap and almost immediate improvement. Still have brain fog and some rashes that come and go but it was almost a 180 with blood work to prove silicone toxicity had resolved. Wouldn’t wish my experience on anyone.
@@lmsxxaaa it did but that was one symptom that took a while to resolve. I still have my moments but I would say I’ve recovered 98% in the last 5 years. Listen to your body and maybe have a conversation with your doctor . It’s a very hard and personal decision. I wish you the best.
I have this same experience.. Dr in SLC UT put toxic silicone implants in me instead of saline and they were full of extreme chemicals.. I've been sick since 30 years+..my brain fog barely lifted and I have an overactive immune system and it wears me out. Your not alone. I did get my implants and documents but the lawyer I hired kept them and refused to sue the DR.. I had paperwork with someone else's signature needed for silicone...one day they'll answer to God...makes me wonder how many women he permanently hurt.
Loved how he was respectful of all procedures and not critical of individuals who opt for them even if he’s not fully supportive of it. He made it about how at the end of the day, it is a personal choice. Very knowledgeable!

Just watched the Dark Side of Cosmetic surgery - absolutely fascinating BUT what I loved especially was the end comments where he told us about adopting elderly dogs. This is a subject so close to my heart. I only have one little dog - she is 14 - but my hobby now is supporting dog shelters. I make blankets, beds, coats and purchase food - I also donate funds especially when the shelters put out a request to cover veterinary costs for dogs which have been abused or injured. I'll be 70 next year. Not being that woman who would have needles in her face & anything foreign implanted in her body, I took care of myself. Due to the fact I tan unevenly in the most unflattering way, I stayed out of the sun. I stopped using soap on my face at 24. I just use water still. I look 20 yrs. younger than I am, but am aware it could change at any time. I'm glad I spent more time learning than looking in the mirror ! I like the way I look !
Beto flipe, I’m way over seventy and look terrific for my age also. Was lucky with my skin and body shape. I like the way I look and happy about it. It’s the genes! Also I didn’t abuse my body with any substance and slept and ate well balanced diet. The sun is my enemy. I always kept away from the sun because I get burns easily. Also I led an easy peaceful life. No jealousy, resentments or bitterness. For all those things work against you.

I wanted to do a lipo with some BBL many years ago and my brother, a anesthesiologist that works with plastic surgeons, told me he would NEVER let me do that. He said: you wanna do a liposuction? Fine. But inject far on your body? NO. He totally convinced me when he explained the danger and the bad results he saw. The surgeons we worked with don’t even recommend that procedure. And he was talking about the procedures done by good plastic surgeons. That crazy ones people do around.. I can’t even imagine the risks. Thank you for this great interview. I am one year post-op from explant surgery. I've had them since I was 26, now 68. I've had them replaced twice. Last Spring my radiologist told me after a mammogram. that one of my implants may have ruptured. That's all I needed to hear. My plastic surgeon removed them and the scar tissue and gave me a nice lift. I am so happy to never worry about them again. PS.. there was no rupture. I choose to see it as a sign to get them out. Lastly: the first time I got implants (and the second), the surgeon NEVER explained to me that it would be a life long investment of many surgeries.
This was extremely interesting discussion on plastic surgery and wellness. I see all these movie stars promoting their facial products as if they don't get involved with plastic surgery like Jennifer Lopez. I will be getting grade one collagen vitamins at Costco. I have had experience with botox. My plastic surgeon was injecting it every two months not every 3 to 4 months. I stopped because it became too expensive. Beauty is an elusive friend, and it gets harder as you get older.
Thank you so much for educating us regarding pros and cons of these highly requested procedures. We're always looking to look better and as in my case I'm nervous to start seeing signs of aging. Loved this! Over the years I have wanted so many things. But never did. I’m super happy the things I wanted went out of style and they never changed my body. But the one thing I am convened I need could only be fixed by surgery. 4 c/section left me a belly I can’t no matter how thin I am I can’t get it away.
Great podcast. I am in my late 70s.....you helped me to decide that I do not need any plastic surgery. Just will age naturally. I do use moisturisers, but that is it. I do not wear any makeup or eye stuff. People think I look younger than my age. I do want to buy one of your books. Will pass along to two daughters and the five granddaughters. No one in the family has had plastic surgery.
I truly can relate to this BII. As soon as I got my implants in 2006 I started having weird symptoms and years later found out I had lyme, EBV and MTHFR so I should have never had them but just got divorced so in my head I thought it would make me feel better about myself. Boy was I wrong. Got them out 4 years ago after having them 14 years and all my inflammation markers are great now!! I also take my methylated vitamins.

I think non-invasive treatments are great, I tried them for many years. But, for some, there comes a time when looking in the mirror at an aging face becomes depressing. There is nothing graceful about a turkey neck, sagging jowls, flat cheeks and droopy eyelids. Surgery may not be for everyone, but for those who want it, they are thankful for the option to have it and even more thankful that there are competent doctors who can achieve extraordinary results

Have had my implants for a full year and I never felt more happy and confident. Other then sensation changes, the healing was pretty easy and smooth sailing for me. The millions of us who have successful surgeries are the VAST silent majority. Most people only discuss the scary stories but i want to be one voice stating how happy I am with it. Please do the research before commiting to any procedures.
@@radioactive_sunflowerz2450Yes exactly. The original comment has a hint of survivors bias whether intentional or not. theres many things that can go wrong YEARS and YEARS after your surgery. Some even decades down the line. Which is WHY It’s important and is WHY this is so heavily talked about . Especially with the boob job being a more popular procedure among young women. Many dont fully understand the changes their boobs and body will go through in circumstances in which they become pregnant, gain weight, lose weight, or generally age. The initial look is not set in stone forever. It’s not uncommon to experience complications with the shifting, splitting, or changes to the silicone/implants later down the line. Many women have experienced this hence why it is so talked about . It’s not about shading people who like their boob job lol.
But the important thing to remember is that going through BI surgery without complications doesn’t mean you’re automatically out of the woods. There are still risks of complications even 10-20 years after. Not to mention the average age range of this is 19-34 in which your body is still going through many weight, lifestyle or health changes that can affect the implants. Unlike most other plastic surgeries, your weight plays a HUGE role in the appearance of your implants. oftentimes people run into complications or find them to be too heavy MANY, many, years later after they have gained weight or had children .Thus it’s an important conversation to be had.

I know I don’t but my reason to get it is not to get it bigger but to always have the fat on the top, it deflated as you get older. Implants will always keep your boobs round, that was my goal. I use to have a muffin top but if was alllll skin. My stomach was so saggy after I had my son but my stomach tightened up after yearsssss and I use to have a nice flat stomach that was full of stretch marks but now I have a belly at 28 because of gaining weight but I’m ok now. I’m almost 30. I can’t be super tiny my whole life lol
I feel like drs aren’t talking about getting breast cancer because they don’t care as much. They just go w what they were taught and don’t question anything. But drs like this question things and actually care that by doing a surgery, you may also give them cancer. He thinks deeper and on a more individual level. It’s not just a job for him, helping people is his passion.

What has made a difference for me to help keep my collagen is HRT. I feel like women should look into HRT in their 30's as our estrogen declines because it affects collagen inour bodies.

My friend had a breast reduction it looked great but again the Dr told her the risks its a big serious surgery and if you are not aware of dangers it would be a terrible regret .
I use low level laser therapy for various health conditions, but it happens to be a red laser. Don't know if that has anything to do with the next bit, but the laser, as a happy accident, has significantly improved my eczema, some areas are entirely gone now and the skin in the areas I use the laser on regularly is more toned and I i can't see as much cellulite or stretch marks in those areas either. I have a good value home laser I use daily. Definitely research it. Its amazing for me
so about the breast cancer/fat transfer topic: Fat tissue isn’t really a tissue with a high percentage of mother cells in comparison to other tissues but other than than healthy mothers cells can not differentiate into cancer cells. Cancer cells only come from previous cancer cells, cancer by itself self isnt like an illness that can be contagious to healthy cells so transfering healthy mother cells into a tumor tissue wont affect the growth speed of the tumor

The uneven tanning could be from not eating enough meat.

Im 39 now, i had my teeth straightened and breast done 5 years ago. Getting (very natural looking) implants and invisalign was the best thing I've ever done for myself. No side effects, no regrets whatsoever 😊❤

Loved this! Over the years I have wanted so many things. But never did. I’m super happy the things I wanted went out of style and they never changed my body. But the one thing I am convened I need could only be fixed by surgery. 4 c/section left me a belly I can’t no matter how thin I am I can’t get it away.

Great podcast. I am in my late 70s.....you helped me to decide that I do not need any plastic surgery. Just will age naturally. I do use moisturisers, but that is it. I do not wear any makeup or eye stuff. People think I look younger than my age.
I do want to buy one of your books. Will pass along to two daughters and the five granddaughters. No one in the family has had plastic surgery.

I truly can relate to this BII. As soon as I got my implants in 2006 I started having weird symptoms and years later found out I had lyme, EBV and MTHFR so I should have never had them but just got divorced so in my head I thought it would make me feel better about myself. Boy was I wrong. Got them out 4 years ago after having them 14 years and all my inflammation markers are great now!! I also take my methylated vitamins.

Such an honest man. One thing about botox, it can surface illnesses like myasthenia gravis and MS. If you already have one of these auto immune diseases you should never have botox. It will warn you on the box.

I think non-invasive treatments are great, I tried them for many years. But, for some, there comes a time when looking in the mirror at an aging face becomes depressing. There is nothing graceful about a turkey neck, sagging jowls, flat cheeks and droopy eyelids. Surgery may not be for everyone, but for those who want it, they are thankful for the option to have it and even more thankful that there are competent doctors who can achieve extraordinary results

Have had my implants for a full year and I never felt more happy and confident. Other then sensation changes, the healing was pretty easy and smooth sailing for me. The millions of us who have successful surgeries are the VAST silent majority. Most people only discuss the scary stories but i want to be one voice stating how happy I am with it. Please do the research before commiting to any procedures.
Yeah I think the point is to make sure you're in the right mindset, do your research and pick a good surgeon that cares!
@@radioactive_sunflowerz2450Yes exactly. The original comment has a hint of survivors bias whether intentional or not. theres many things that can go wrong YEARS and YEARS after your surgery. Some even decades down the line. Which is WHY It’s important and is WHY this is so heavily talked about . Especially with the boob job being a more popular procedure among young women. Many dont fully understand the changes their boobs and body will go through in circumstances in which they become pregnant, gain weight, lose weight, or generally age. The initial look is not set in stone forever. It’s not uncommon to experience complications with the shifting, splitting, or changes to the silicone/implants later down the line. Many women have experienced this hence why it is so talked about . It’s not about shading people who like their boob job lol.
But the important thing to remember is that going through BI surgery without complications doesn’t mean you’re automatically out of the woods. There are still risks of complications even 10-20 years after.
Not to mention the average age range of this is 19-34 in which your body is still going through many weight, lifestyle or health changes that can affect the implants. Unlike most other plastic surgeries, your weight plays a HUGE role in the appearance of your implants. oftentimes people run into complications or find them to be too heavy MANY, many, years later after they have gained weight or had children .Thus it’s an important conversation to be had.

My surgeon also said you don’t need it. I know I don’t but my reason to get it is not to get it bigger but to always have the fat on the top, it deflated as you get older. Implants will always keep your boobs round, that was my goal. Got my implants at 34, not too young

I use to have a muffin top but if was alllll skin. My stomach was so saggy after I had my son but my stomach tightened up after yearsssss and I use to have a nice flat stomach that was full of stretch marks but now I have a belly at 28 because of gaining weight but I’m ok now. I’m almost 30. I can’t be super tiny my whole life lol

I feel like drs aren’t talking about getting breast cancer because they don’t care as much. They just go w what they were taught and don’t question anything. But drs like this question things and actually care that by doing a surgery, you may also give them cancer. He thinks deeper and on a more individual level. It’s not just a job for him, helping people is his passion.
They just want that $$

What has made a difference for me to help keep my collagen is HRT. I feel like women should look into HRT in their 30's as our estrogen declines because it affects collagen inour bodies.

I use low level laser therapy for various health conditions, but it happens to be a red laser. Don't know if that has anything to do with the next bit, but the laser, as a happy accident, has significantly improved my eczema, some areas are entirely gone now and the skin in the areas I use the laser on regularly is more toned and I i can't see as much cellulite or stretch marks in those areas either. I have a good value home laser I use daily. Definitely research it. Its amazing for me

so about the breast cancer/fat transfer topic: Fat tissue isn’t really a tissue with a high percentage of mother cells in comparison to other tissues but other than than healthy mothers cells can not differentiate into cancer cells. Cancer cells only come from previous cancer cells, cancer by itself self isnt like an illness that can be contagious to healthy cells so transfering healthy mother cells into a tumor tissue wont affect the growth speed of the tumor
