@Clutch4IceCream There's *way* more taking place on the screen at the same time, though. It might have the visual fidelity of Gears 5, but it would be like running two instances of it.
@Spaceman69420 they've already shown that this title is cpu bound in this very video. Dropping the resolution and graphical settings has little to no effect on performance. It'll probably ship with a 30fps and 40fps mode.
This is a cool game, by the way, most of the people working at the developer company are Russian. The company itself has Russian roots, At one time they changed jurisdiction from the Russian field. We developed the game on our own graphics engine, which is somewhat comparable to UE5.
Story for SM1 was brilliant has such a great twist and the voice actors really made the characters stand out, especially Captain Titus. Pitty he hasn't come back for his role again but I can't wait for the game This is going to take away a lot of players from other games for sure because we've been waiting over 10 years I think. Helldivers 2 will be losing more players for sure it's that bad it's Dev has caused issues that players have actually made a ChaosDiver side sort of to not do any missions on the bots so they take over Super Earth
My pc runs Helldivers 2 on medium settings at 1440p with a nice frame rate, so should I be good to enjoy Space marine 2? I'm hoping they might have similar draw on pc power.
The fact that they sent promo footage that looks WORSE than the code they sent you is actually reassuring. It means they are constantly improving the game, while being aware of issues as they come up.
6:39 One thing that does puzzle me just from my perspective looking at the video, there is decent foliage and foliage density, so why do they have those billboard low res bits of scrub/foliage? That really seems bizarre and arbitrary to me
Yet at the same time, if some fully rendered, high-density foliage were to be used, something you'd hardly notice in the heat of the action, and it would bring the entire game to a crawl, we'd have gamers(tm) complain about how unoptimized the game is.
If it doesn’t have ultrawide support I simply won’t buy it. I’m tired of workaround for lazy devs, however world war z supported ultrawide so not a huge concern that this game won’t.

Great job as always guys 👍 Yet another game being released this year that'll probably fail to hit a smooth 60fps on console. DD2, rise of the ronin and black myth already released with struggles and TDU solar crown and Star wars outlaws also showing worrying signs pre-elease. NeXt GeN
You guys know they used this engine on World War Z right? This massive background enemies...etc was all done in that game first and isn't anything new for this game. This game is just the World War Z game turned into Warhammer 40k

Really excited for this game, but I’m cautiously curious how the console performance and visuals will be. A 60fps mode seems badly needed for a game with so much going on.
After playing EDF 6. I'm starting to see true next gen stuff going on that's separated from last gen. Not sure how EDF 6 compares on PS4, but the grandscale and massive enemies on screen, 99% destructible environments, effects and physics all going on at or above atleast 40 fps at high resolutions. This is another game showing off next gen stuff (enormous crowds and scale of environments both vertically and wide).
The Total War Warhammer games you're thinking of are set in the Warhammer Fantasy Battles universe, while this game is set in the Warhammer 40k universe. Both video games are based on the tabletop games in real life in their respective franchises. Hopefully that clears it up for you.
Warhammer and Warhammer 40k are licensed out frequently to different developers and have different games in different genres. They all originate from the tabletop games by Games Workshop.
I like the graphics, but tbh Id prefer less graphics for more actual content. By comparison the EDF series has hardly upgraded the appearance of their games and have an enormous amount of missions, enemies, and build options. They are fun and replayable to the extreme. As a veteran of the first game and a big warhammer fan in general, I think Space Marine 2 appears to be a promising sequel that is faithful to the original. At the same time, I hope they didn't sacrifice too much for the sake of making the game pretty.
i dont think its a good looking game just because it has crazy new gen shaders and illumination, its simple a very well crafted world and lots of hours for developers to put the details on point and place.
"My only real concern with the assets in this title is probably the character models..." I mean, we can all see the 16-bit-era ground plant sprites in every clip of the jungle environment, right?

@TSE_WOODY 540-720p upscaled, I reckon. Particles drastically reduced, too.
@@coliander4180dude what? This barely looks better than gears of war 5
@@Clutch4IceCream 720p/800p/900p upscaled seems to be the norm for demanding games on consoles if you want 60fps
Pitty he hasn't come back for his role again but I can't wait for the game
This is going to take away a lot of players from other games for sure because we've been waiting over 10 years I think. Helldivers 2 will be losing more players for sure it's that bad it's Dev has caused issues that players have actually made a ChaosDiver side sort of to not do any missions on the bots so they take over Super Earth
Was waiting for this post
My pc runs Helldivers 2 on medium settings at 1440p with a nice frame rate, so should I be good to enjoy Space marine 2? I'm hoping they might have similar draw on pc power.
They already mentioned in the video this game is CPU heavy. R7 5800X/i7 12700 recomended for 60fps
@OutrunCid yes both extremes, but specifically here, there is fine foliage already, so just don't use the billboard at all, it's so funny
saber has their own game engine and even its own script language ssl (saber script language )
11:50 Those bullet decals would be be using POM textures
This engine is incredible hope more games use it . I'd like to see bioshock on it
Can you please have a look at Saber's other games? TimeShift and Inversion were technically very impressive.
next gen games are arriving
If this game doesn't have native ultrawide support, I will be so disappointed.
If it doesn’t have ultrawide support I simply won’t buy it. I’m tired of workaround for lazy devs, however world war z supported ultrawide so not a huge concern that this game won’t.
The leaked build had zero ultrawide support, with full pillarboxing in gameplay. Hopefully they added UW support for release. I was hoping they would talk about it here.
I didn't play Space Marine one and have two questions about the comming game.
- How playable is it with mouse and keyboard? I don't like to play shooter with a gamepad because I suck with it ;)
- Is there any friendly fire? I fear for my friends if there is ;)
You know.. The gelatinous water.. if ever there was an in universe... Universe... To have reasons for gelatinous water, I feel like 40K has that one covered, especially water plus tyranids... They're just.. they're just a goopy bunch.
Looks great but if there's no stable 60 fps mode on consoles then I'll skip it.
when has a console had a stable 60fps mode in a 3rd party game
Unlikely.
Bro, is fps really that big of a deal to you? I'm fine with 30, or even 20 at times.
@@jasperfox6821 in a high intensity action game you really want 60.
A game that varies between 20- 30fps feels very bad to play
I never knew this game was on ps5. I always thought it was a Pc Game. I def wanna get into it. It gives me gears of war / Starcraft / Unreal tournament vibes. And i like those games.
man i can't get over the scar dachsjaeger has, it looks badass, must have hurt real bad, but its badass
Did it have XESS? XESS 1.3 seems to perform better or the same as FSR2 while giving better image quality, and is also hardware agnostic
Yeah, the lack of console representation and information has me wary of this game. I really hope they lock it down.
Looks great, but I very much hope for frame gen here
Really excited for this game, but I’m cautiously curious how the console performance and visuals will be. A 60fps mode seems badly needed for a game with so much going on.
"FOR THEE EMPEROORRRRRRR"
Did you guys check if it has ultra wide support? The leaked build didn't.
Excited for this one
After playing EDF 6. I'm starting to see true next gen stuff going on that's separated from last gen. Not sure how EDF 6 compares on PS4, but the grandscale and massive enemies on screen, 99% destructible environments, effects and physics all going on at or above atleast 40 fps at high resolutions. This is another game showing off next gen stuff (enormous crowds and scale of environments both vertically and wide).
i thought warhammer was a total war game where it was a real time strategy
Warhammer is not automatically RTS.
Warhammer is a tabletop game
The Total War Warhammer games you're thinking of are set in the Warhammer Fantasy Battles universe, while this game is set in the Warhammer 40k universe. Both video games are based on the tabletop games in real life in their respective franchises. Hopefully that clears it up for you.
Warhammer and Warhammer 40k are licensed out frequently to different developers and have different games in different genres. They all originate from the tabletop games by Games Workshop.
There's a pretty good XCOM-like called Chaos Gate, the Left 4 Dead style Darktide, the isometric RPG Rouge Trader...
No dating sim yet, unfortunately.
is there a setting to pull the camera back a bit?
I wonder if console gameplay will be shown at all before release...
I don't think so. They will probably tell us wheter or not we will get 60fps performance mode on console or not and that will probably be it
Any word on PS5 performance yet? Did review codes go out for PS5, how does it compare to PC?
"My only real concern with the assets in this title is probably the character models..."
I mean, we can all see the 16-bit-era ground plant sprites in every clip of the jungle environment, right?
No you cant when moving... since TAA and/or upscales renders the whole thing in a blurry mess.
As a Current Space Marine, I approve of this game.
