    Usually the 1st thing people do after installing a clutch kit is a wheelie. Lol.. I guess you weren't in the mood. The clutch on the Kodiak looks like it's built pretty solid compared to Can Am & Polaris which are pushing almost double the HP. You kinda freaked me out when you where applying the grease until I realized it's a sealed clutch. It's a little different than what I'm used to seeing. I like the different design. Thanks for sharing. It's always good to learn something new.

    Hey buddy ! great video ! I've never really considered a clutch kit until this video. I don't know ANYTHING about them either haha so you buy this whole clutch or is it just the new weights/shims you put on the stock clutch? And youre saying it improves your low end (which I use more often) and it improved your top end by 4mph ?

    • @kcatv9556
      @kcatv9556  3 роки тому +5

      Hey! Buddy! You can send your outer primary clutch Sheave and the cam plate to coop. He does the machine work to improve the low range and upper range. Or you can just purchase the parts from him
      he’ll do the machine work and then send it to you. You still use your stock weights the only thing you add is the 1 mm shim to get to the 3.0 ratio.
      I think it will work really well for trail riding.
      You start off with a much lower ratio but yet you are not turning a bunch of RPMs when cruising. You just email him he’s super easy to work with!

      @@kcatv9556 - Same here in Alaska. Normally we have a moderate amount of snow each winter, however, this year has been stupid warm, which is bad. It creates lots of ice and wrecks our roads with heaves and other issues. So many cars have had their tires blown, rims shattered and even parts ripped out from underneath along with the occasional bumper removed from such large holes in the road and standing water over them that you can not see them till it is too late. Sometimes these holes are not there an hour earlier and then suddenly they are. Some days (like yesterday) we got a blizzard with tons of slushy snow and in the high 20's/low 30's, then suddenly, as night approaches the temp raises!!! Everything melts for a few hours before freezing just before dawn causing tons of accidents.
      This is the most destructive, wet, nasty winter we have had in many years. Totally unlike this region of Alaska.

    I love the improved low end! Good job buddy!
    Question: Did the rev limiter cut in on the way back up the hill, limiting your speed? The reason I ask is that you reached 68 downhill with the wind behind you before the rev limiter cut in. Coming back, the last number I saw was 57 when you were climbing the same slope. So on level ground with no slope, would you have gotten past the previous top speed of 64 MPH? Or is my question insignificant because your pre-Coops number of 64 test came on the same stretch of road?

    In your opinion, is power steering needed on the Kodiak 700? It just blows how much more expensive units are with eps. I would be using it 90% for plowing snow. Is the Kodiak the right machine for plowing? I've heard the Foreman 520 foot shift is the best and most reliable but I just can't stand how Honda porks us all on price. The 18g weights turn 6700/6800 Rpm's at WOT, 20g weights turn 6400/6500 Rpm's at WOT. So I would geuss with the stock Kodiak weights of 30g its turning around 5600-5800 Rpm's.

      @@kcatv9556 Yes I put a tach on my Grizzly. It was the only way to know what Rpm it was running. Having a tach make sorting clutching out a lot easier. I also have a machined sheave. I am a tool & die maker by trade so machining it was a no brainer.

      @@440cubicinch Yep for sure having a tech allows you to see the clutch changes how the changes affect the RPM. Tool and die maker?
      Ok I went to grade school with a friend of mine who is a tool and die maker. He grew up in it. 3 generations.

      @@kcatv9556 Thats cool. My dad was a certified welder and taught us kids how to weld properly, My two older brothers were both mechanics and I went into tool & die right out of high school. I retired a year ago and my home shop is set up with a fully tooled Bridgeport mill, Engine lathe, & other goodies.

    Have you ever tried one of those Machine Integrations wheel bearing greasers?? I have been thinking about making one. ua-cam.com/video/-Belm3Je0CA/v-deo.html

      I have seen those but haven’t used one. So far all of my wheel bearings are still tight. Apparently water hasn’t gotten to them yet..

      @@kcatv9556 If you ever need to get any wheel bearings do a search for them. OE is Koyo bearings and Yamaha wants like $70. ea. You can buy the same bearing from Kawasaki for 1/2 price. And there is a seller on Ebay that sell's them for 1/2 of Yamaha's price as well and they are also Koyo bearings
