In 2010 I attended 11 ramp ceremonies at Kandahar Airfield for our fallen soldiers. Personally speaking, It was extra tough knowing the horrible journey that lay ahead of their loved ones back home. Lost my brother in Kandahar on October 7th of 2006. We remember, each and every day. Peace, love and respect to all. Lest We Forget 🌺

Sometimes it's hard to come home when your family doesn't understand what you've seen or done I have lived with PTSD since the 80's not from combat, but from what I've seen on my last carrier! I watched 6 people die in flight deck accidents, one of the 6 was one my sailors who walked into a prop of an E-2, the only way I could identify his body was by his flight deck float coat! It's not easy by any means to come home to the life you had before.
I’ve heard the deck of a carrier is the most dangerous working environment. Even mundane aspects of the profession can be catastrophic. Thank you for your service.
Yeah...taking care of those who volunteer to go do the most horrific things imaginable so as to spare the rest of us from that experience and preserve our existence should never be an issue. I'll never forget the folks in the Canadian Navy who gathered up my fellow U.S. Marines and I after the Persian Gulf War. Showed us around Canada. Great clubs there by the way in 91. The first night of liberty we spent on a beach drinking and singing and...well, you know, having fun living lol. Good people those Canadian sailors. Good fun. Good times. Semper Fi ps. As to the song? Well said...very well said.
I never really started "coming home":, until G. I used to wake up every night with nightmares. Every d*mn night. G... she calmed some of that. Over time, Nightmares went from every night, to maybe once a week. Eventually once a month. But without G., I would never have "come home". But finding a woman like that - who can help you "come home"? That's... really hard. Really rare. Precious.
Many thanks for your service and to your amazing angel!! Women have the power to drive us to war and to bring us home from such tragedy. Godspeed to you both as you walk towards peace in your soul.
Please no. I don't deserve that. I don't have a service record. My PTSD comes from other things. I knew guys who served, some of whom never really came home. I see some similarities in what they dealt with afterwards, and what I dealt with. These kinds of songs speak to me because of that, and because of those guys. They deserve your thanks.
My grandfather was in the us army as a lineman form 1946 to 1953 or early 54 and he was a sergeant was in Korea and received a purple heart and the only thing he told my dad about his time in Korea was how cold it was over there and I never really knew him I was about 4 years old when he passed in 2009

In the cemetery in the British town I live in there are graves from the 1st and 2nd World War. Few are British . Most are Canadian , Austrailian or New Zealand a long way from home . A few days ago I I financially helped a young woman who served as a Royal Engineer Sapper in the 2nd Gulf war and Afghanistan . A pleasant woman who was ashamed to beg . But she was begging . For a room and a shower and some food for the night . I also know of many British military who have suffered mental illness . The Charities are good and I support them . But they only have so much money and there are so many to care for . I know of one special US Army person who occasionally goes back to Afghanistan in his mind . He is alive today because someone cares . So, he has not took his life and he never will now . This is how our Guardian Angel's are treated . Like rubbish . It should not be so .
If you cannot talk the talk, then do not even try to walk the walk. If you have never been there you cannot comprehend or understand the thousand yard stare or hear the ghostly screams in the wind.
