Thanks for having me bro. Really appreciate everything you do for the community 🔥
Nikon Z9 can capture 8K video at 60p 12-bit RAW and record internally to your memory card.
@@MohammadEhsanYousafyes but it’s a Nikon 😢😂 jk jk
Please make video on iPhone 15 pro max and dji air 3 camera test
Since the ISO is - digitally - filtering the image coming back from the sensor… while ND is traditionally applied to the front of a lens… seems to me that it would be easier to engineer an integrated solutions (rather than have a digital vs film concept cancel each other’s functionality)
Yes, I started wit a Nikon’s “filmmaker’s kit” total waste of $$$
Apple, Blackmagic are not supporting their workflow!
(And I say that as a Nikon shooter going back to the 90s F5 and all Nikkor glass)
32 bit float audio internally would be amazing.
This would be game-changing
Loving the collaboration! Jason is a fantastic creator as well. Lots of good points here….i would love to see open gate and internal NDs
Great video as always! Thanks Peter. 🤞
Great insights I think the companies that are making these cameras know all these challenges but they leave them out on purpose as a way to keep us buying as they solve the minor challenges. Thank you for the video
Internal ND is all I want
Great ideas, and cool that you invited Jason, I've been following him from the start…
Good to see Jason on your channel. After using the Sony ZV-1 as my primary camera for the past three years, I was a bit disappointed that the FX30 didn't feature Internal ND. It's such a key feature because I'm not a fan of screw-mounted VNDs. I went with the Meike EFtoE adapter with built-in filter, but that's a whole 'nother story of pounding your head against the concrete. Global shutter would be a nice feature that would edge it on the Red Komodo, and while I like the ideas of Bluetooth audio and internal recording, those are readily remedied currently. Give us IND and GS and I'm throwing more money at you Sony!
Great video💪 and don’t forget shutter angle 😎
I agree that opiate should be included. That would be amazing!
My Two favourite Camera Vloggers woohoo. Jason is awesome, and has great knowledge.
Internal ND, False Color, 32 Bit Float Audio
Retain full af capabilities when using clear image zoom, including eye tracking, similar to the ZV-1
Keep improving the already wonderful gyro-stabilization (4K 120fps?)
Improve the design and durability of the audio handle
I think the future is to combine the best of cell phone and a camera. Massive touch screen on the back that i can control everything. I can download apps to use on my camera. I can share profiles, settings, luts etc, with anyone just like texting. You could go live with just your camera. You could edit in-camera also, post to social media. Possibilities are endless.
Have you checked out the Panasonic stuff this year? Between open gate, ssd support on the S5IIX and some of the features are nuts
The Fuji XH2s ($2500) and xs20 ($1300) both shoot in 6.2k open gate. I’m renting the xs20 right now for a wedding and open gate is so useful for cropping for vertical content. You get 6.2k horizontally and 4K vertically
I cut my teeth back in the 80's and 90's on ENG/EFP and there wasn't a single camera out there that didn't have internal ND, even up through the first crossover to DV and the explosion of the prosumer movement. And the use of DSLR and now to mirrorless for video is well over a decade in development and Sony/Canon have yet to fully embrace it, at least to me. Then...rolling shutter would be the second biggest things to address. Mind you, even the ZV-E10 at just $700 shoots with exponentially more dynamic range and clarity than any %50k shoulder mounted camera I used to carry back in the day, so I am fully appreciative of the advancements and how the economies of scale have allowed more creator in the space. But talking of core improvements, I do agree on internal ND and addressing rolling shutter are things that should be in the works.
Optical low pass filter, keep the megapixel low, ND internally, false color just in case, 32bit float audio🤙🏼
There are a few camera systems already utilizing internal storage, but they're not video focused. Hasselblad (which is just DJI) has 1tb in the X2D, and Leica has 64gb and 256gb in the M11 and M11 Monochrome, respectively. Considering Sony makes the sensor for those systems, it seems as though it *should* be a non-issue for them to implement some internal storage in the next gen cameras. It's definitely a nice buffer to have.
As for wants - internal ND with IBIS would be killer. Open Gate seems a no brainer at this point. Global Shutter could be cool, but it seems unlikely, in part because Sony's shutter read out is already fast, but also because Global Shutters typically give up dynamic range, and that is kinda one of Sony's market cornering strengths.
Game changer would be them pushing forward as Nikon did and enabling in camera RAW. In tandem with on board storage, in cam compressed RAW would RULE. If they combined that with false color and a few of the industry standard cinema monitoring options, whoa buddy.
My top 3 most wanted features in order and the odds I think it will happen on the next generation of small hybrid mirrorless bodies...
1) Internal ND in conjunction with IBIS (5% - I think it's just too difficult physically with current technology in a small camera body but I can hope!)
2) Open gate recording (10% - I think it will overheat so it'll be limited to shorter recording times but it would be amazing since vertical video is so popular right now with clients to be able to deliver near full quality vertical and horizontal versions with the same footage!)
3) Internal RAW recording (50% - I think it would a paid update to pay for the licence but not out of the box... but I think it will be offered as like a $200 software update or something)
Agree with all these requests. Just on Jason's request for the internal Bluetooth receiver, it's not Bluetooth the wireless mics use, it's wifi. Would be awesome!
Any radio signal (BT or WiFi) would be shielded by the magnesium camera case if the receiver was to be inside it.
Took the words right out of my mouth. Global shutter would be crazy. RED is an amazing company and the RAW License should be a thing. I wanted to buy the new Red Komodo X but I’m not sure just yet. Love Sony so much but, I want that Raw Aspect in shooting. Love the channel my guy.
I’m am not greedy, shutter angle would be such a treat! 🙏
Internal raw vidéo before internal ND. With a collaboration with black Magic and DaVinci is my Dreams
For next fx3 mark ii,
1. 16 bit raw
2. Internal nd and ibis
3. 32 bit float top handle
4. Flip screen that combine a7rv screen and a6400 screen.
Bluetooth audio interface would be game changing. I run my FX6 all the time without the top handle and although I'm using the RODE Wireless Pro's, which are awesome, it would be really nice to be able to pump that audio into the camera via Bluetooth. Everything else you mentioned would be fantastic as well, open gate, global shutter, etc. After films like The Creator, surely Sony has to recognize that there is a growing need for smaller form factor cameras and will do whatever they can to meet this need... but I won't hold my breath.
All these features listed are great and I feel like over time (a long time) these things can be implemented into the camera. Not that they can't do it, it's just how marketing works. If these giant companies were to offer most of these features at once, then what would the next product in line have to offer? FX3, FX30, and A7Siii were game changers and one of the first companies to offer these features in a compact body. I just think if we were to have a gun in our hand and we had 7 rounds to fire in a battle. I'm sure most of us would not empty it out in the first 5 seconds haha.
Also, side note if we were to implement all these features at once this would probably jack up the price of the cameras. And we know how the content and filmmaking community can react sometimes when the price is jacked up hahah.
You hit the sweet spot when you said global shutter. I’m thinking of getting the Komodo X because it does have a global shutter and it’s a great camera. I am waiting to see what Sony is going to do with their a7S4. 6K? Open gate? A processor so fast it’s almost like a global shutter? Some of that and they’ll get my money in a heartbeat.
I would subscribe to Jason’s channel but I already am. He does a great job with his channel. Wow what would I like Sony to do with their upcoming cameras? One I would like them to switch from type a cards to tpye B cards. Having a built-in ND filter would be nice no doubt about that. And all cameras come with 4K 120. Those would be nice to have. Well maybe a top screen light the new Fuji gfx100 version two
Bra jobbat
Internal ND, Open Gate, Global Shutter, BNC Output for less latency in video transmission, RAW license and internal battery for less Timecode trouble would be SICK! But that ain’t gonna happen 🥲 You’ll need to buy a Burano.
If fx3 has nd it would have been such a perfect camera!!!
THE BEST!
💯💯💯
I would love to see built in NDs 🤩
I would love to see A7S4/FX4 deliver 24MP dual layer stacked sensor, 6k60p, 4k120p uncropped, and 4k240p (APS-C/S35 crop), external USB-4 SSD recording.
Not sure why Sony has not offered 6k60p (cropped or oversampled) on A1. Codec limitations ? Licensing/patent issues ?
Internal ND has been on my wish list for as long as I shot Sony mirrorless cameras years ago. The ND filter can replace the thickness of the shutter, seeing as they're going shutter-less.
your saying it like they cant do it.. of course they can.. they can put fx9 features in a a7s3.. its purely marketing, its a "pro " evel feature.
Internal ND filters on a small mirrorless body like the a7S III or the A1 would be unreal!
No more packing filters, damaging filters, losing filters or purchasing filters. I recently lost an ND filter on a hike, it was part of the Freewell magnetic VND set and apparently they are all aligned in the factory, you can't just get a replacement as the kit is made to work together.
I would love internal ND.
Just whack a UV fitler on for those rare times the lens in in danger (filming sparks from grinder for example) and no other filters needed unless you want CPL.
your saying it like they cant do it.. of course they can.. they can put fx9 features in a a7s3.. its purely marketing, its a "pro " evel feature.
@@jamskof
No, I'm not. The term "unreal" is not literal, as in I don't think it can be done, I'm just expressing how much I would enjoy that feature. Unreal = Amazing in this context.
Of course they can do it, there would be weight and price increases no doubt.
when are those hats going on sale?
Sony rumors say 3 new cameras are in the works so hopefully built-in ND is part of the upgrade on at least one of these...
If so, I might have to sell all my canon gear and switch over
i wish i could use my wireless earbuds to monitor the audio when recording... its a pain to use regular earbuds everytime you wanna put the gimbal down.
hey Peter...why don't you consider to move to Panasonic? ;). Congrats for ur work anyway... great video as always!
No global shutter though. Just do a 2ms rolling shutter like the Venice. Global shutters trade off highlight roll. I think komodo would look so much better with a quick rolling shutter.
Can't agree on internal memory for two reasons: price increase; and even if just a basic memory, people will want it to record at the max bitrate possible in that camera, something like only a v90 or CF-A would be capable, thus, again, increasing the price.
Open gate would been nice but also merging all PAL and NTSC modes into one list like Panasonic.
Please make video on iPhone 15 pro max and dji air 3 camera test
Hey Peter, I really need your help out here. I have learned editing and filming completely. Only issue that I m facing is that I cannot use music as I am religious.
Can U help me by telling me what can I do to make videos to look rly good and sound good and what is something I can use to sync my videos to. Instruments and manipulation of audio to create a rhythm is what I cannot use. Rest I can. And how do I sell myself in such a way that clients will not feel like video is lacking. I also learned sound design. Thanks for all the info in ur videos and Love from Pakistan
I would love to see it coming closer to red or black magic with the sony things like autofocus - any other addition like ai are fine but not revolutionary. 12 bit RAW internal or sth. 2nd place would take ability to load lut and internar nd as something standard
12 bit linear like sigma fp, s5, s1h, fs7, ect or 12 bit log like bm, Sony 16bit to atomos, arriraw, ect? There's decimal points difference in the amount of colors between the two with 12 bit linear losing code values by the time it gets to black when cameras have more than a dozen stops of dynamic range.
@@errol3184 I am not an expert but red feels more soft and organic and sony is much more digital, there is lesser detail and rolloff in highlight and shadows - I thought it has to do with the dynamic range or how the camera is working with those extreme stops. so making it closer to red would be nice
Just announcing a better firmware program would make me happy
I’d love to see false color built in and the ability to externally record. This way we wouldn’t need something like a Ninja V.
Hasselblad X2D 100c has internal storage of 1 Tb i know you can´t record with it but i think they where first with internal storage just saying.
Ok, second comment... plus ONE for the internal storage. YES! And I'll add a protected memory area for camera settings. Ever format your card on site and realize you just blew away your camera preferences? (Sony really should allow copying between cards. I could have restored my settings from card #2. Cannon can do it. File manager is just mature features that Sony can easily add in an easy firmware update.)
False Color on display, Internal ND, SSD Recording, APSC Mode for 4k Resolution: in Sony A7S 4 please.
Currently, I am using a Sony A7iii bought that in 2020, and now I want to upgrade but Sony has launched so many recent cameras with features that are present in one Model but not on another, and so on. Hey Peter will you suggest, i want my new camera to have more video-focused features and i am planning to keep My a7iii for photos and should I Get zve1 for videos? and can it be used in a professional way? and will you make a video on ZVE1 like a long term review or something ?
You absolutely can use the ZVE1 professionally, it's the same sensor as the FX3 but in a different body. Highly recommend it!
@@PeterLindgren1 hope you'll make long term review of it anytime soon BTW Thank You so much for suggestion.
Nikon, DJi, Red, BlackMagic, Canon and sony burano are shooting raw now, it should be possible in the next sony camera
Doesn’t a Leica have and pixxi rangefinders have internal storage? Agree they should be in mirrorless.
Seems like you plan to switch system?
Who knows!
Peter! What do you mean stale??? The A7Siii was an absolute killer!!! That said I think Sony is the only manufacturer that keeps pushing the envelope. So they will keep making us happy.
n chance. its not that they cant, with barely any cost.. but for time beig, its purely pro level.
So I thought they already what a Sony camera that shoots in open gate and didn’t you make a the video about it?
Bluetooth audio wouldn’t be very desirable unless it uses a lossless format. And range and dropouts would make it rough.
Read as: wireless etc
What I don’t understand is… how can GoPro/DJI Action cameras can have insane image stability but an actual camera (Sony/Canon etc) can’t match that stability of a GoPro!!!. Now this is something that I really really really want in a mirrorless camera.
Because they do it with electronic stabilisation combined with gyro data! Easier to do on a small sensor than on a big one!
When do u guys think this will happen? I'm trying to hold out lol
How about if Sony just came out with an auto nd adapter instead of introducing it into a new camera model
That’d be SICK
There is literally no global shutter camera from Sony I can think of, despite they make global shutter sensors. Even Venice 2 and Burano use rolling shutter, extremely fast ones though.
I personally would like up see better software. The creators app is decent but crashes. Video Transfer speeds are super slow.
internal NDs would be awesome, but not end of the world if it's not provided. Screwing on ND filters at least protects the precious lenses.
Internal ND all day and thunderbolt4 c port please! It costs nothing😂
If they can Put Bluetooth in AirPods earbuds, then they put it in a camera without a problem
Shutter angle also
Jag pluggar på en filmutbildning och Sony kom dit för att visa upp deras kameror och prata om deras nyaste kameror
If Nikon can do internal raw via a lawsuit decision, Sony definitely can do it!
Internal NDs.....4k120 uncompromised sub $2500. All the pro level software features that should be standard (Internal LUTs, shutter angle, etc.) Ridiculous that they don't do that on all camera that shoot video. Don't really understand why ALL cameras that shoot video don't do also do open gate. Just is more versatile and the sensor is already being read so why not just record the whole thing.
Pro Res recording (considering the iphone can do it now.) Also want to see the LCD screen be as good as a good external monitor. No reason we should have to attach ANOTHER screen to the camera to get a good monitor....unless you just need a larger size.
I don't think we'll get internal NDs until we get global shutters though.....then they can replace the shutter mechanism with an ND mechanism.
Since the ISO is - digitally - filtering the image coming back from the sensor… while ND is traditionally applied to the front of a lens… seems to me that it would be easier to engineer an integrated solutions (rather than have a digital vs film concept cancel each other’s functionality)
built in ND .. its so gotta happen
For now, let's just keep our wishes simple, e.g. firmware updates?
Turns out the answer to your question is "Global shutter".
I literally just paid off my A7s3 come on man =[
Still an amazing camera, i'm just talking about the new ones!
Isn't the patent going to expired soon?
Lets hope so!
Open Gate for sure!
But baby steps. We can start with just supporting the cameras we buy.
Zero updates, zero new features open gate is a great example of this.
Sony is a great camera manufacturer but hands down has to be one of the worst companies to actually support and care for their customers.
They have no interest in maintaining a loyal customer base.
YOUR ALL TALKING LIKE "IF THEY" like its a tricky thing to do!! they put nd's in a bloody rx100 a decade ago! fact of the matter is, they all have a roadmap, and nd's wont be coming anytime soon, unless someone who doesnt make high end video cameras does it.. its all purely marketing. as soon as sony announces that the nd will be digital.. then lower end cameras will get it
The next BIG HUGE THING will be 2 -3 Firmware updates a year for Flagship cameras like the A1 or A7SII.... muhahahaha
Drop your skincare routine
Lmao if Sony doesn’t internal ND’s I’m jumping ship from Nikon
FYI: to be a “patent troll”, means you are sitting on the patent, but do not actually use it. Clearly, all Red cameras capture internal compressed raw, so by definition, Red cannot be patent trolls. Fun fact: Red does license internal raw. I world love, as you mentioned for more companies to offer the option for internal raw. Better yet, I’d love more companies to license R3D from Red.
IBIS is for stills. Terrible for video
See no point in the internal memory. Just zero sense.
Forget an SD card? fantastic to have a backup.
@@PeterLindgren1 I forgot it twice for the same corporate job, when I had a camera with 1sd slot😂 but I don't see an internal memory as anything useful. Modern memory cards are fast enough and super-convinient
