Another tip is to mirror your shot and zoom in - looks like a completely different camera and no need to reshoot! Only works if there’s no words or patterns in shot that would make it obvious that it’s mirrored. Great video! I’d never actually thought about making sure the wardrobe contrasts with the background, I’ve probably worn white in front of a white bg way too many times! 😅
Sorry, but I think that is a bad idea for two reasons. One: it will look weird because hardly any face is perfectly symmetrical. Two: you are breaking the 180-degree rule and can therefore cause confusion.
Can't tell you how helpful all your videos have been. I'm doing simple videos for my mortgage business but branching out into doing videos for others because of what I've learned watching you. So helpful and to the point. Love it man, thanks!
In my opinion, hugely uncommon. Many interview videos miss it entirely, and can’t think of another one that leads with it! I’m a sound guy, so maybe I’m a bit sensitive to it, but I appreciated the importance you put on the topic a lot!
Great insight. Another thing to add is that while keeping your camera shooting to the side and you the interviewer is in front of the subject, do well to sit down while doing that. That allows the subject to have an eye level that doesn't seem like he or she is looking up.
That keyframe fake slider tip is CLUTCH! I often use the 4K punch-in strategy, but definitely going to implement this keyframe fake slider tip on my next shoot Thursday. Great value video!
I saw one of your videos back in the day and thought it was killer. Must have been on a youtube account I don't frequent. I've since rediscovered and don't understand how you don't have more subscribers. The value you bring is awesome. Thank you.
Great practical tutorial for the "one man band," sole camera operator in the real documentary world where one often also wants to go low key and get the talent to be relaxed & share what's on their heart. Thanks Kofi for all the work u put into making this & sharing it with us. Wish we had more stuff like this on you tube channels. 😎😎
Superb tips! I understand the value you dropped in this video and people pay so much money to learn this in college and you dropped this for free. Subscribed, great content sir.
Gosh Kofi, when are you touching down (Ghana). I'm following you on all platforms. Too good of a content to be true. You are literally serving as a great motivation to me. 🙌🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wow! Great point about putting key light on the same side as the window. I always thought you would put key light on opposite side to get even distribution of light on the subject
I liked this video, thought it was easy to listen to and had good information. I usually use my light to fill from natural light rather than add to it at a lower intensity, but thats artistic choice!
Realmente es un gran trabajo el que haz hecho. Muchas gracias amigo Kofi. Cuando yo vaya a EEUU o tú estés en Chile, te invitaré una cerveza. Saludos enormes desde Santiago de Chile (Latin-America).
Amazing video. I make documentaries for the BBC and interviews are huge part of what we do, all these tips are great. Your interview set ups are amazing. Might have to pick up one of those Zhiyun’s for a back light!
more vids like this please am currently a mass media student and we are making a small show for uni and this was sooo helpful and eye opening for me thank youuuu
@@KofiYeboah 😂😂 I’m doing some new stuff today around interviews at a wedding so watching this got me inspired. You know how it is, good old “am I even good” creeping in just before a shoot 😂
Not sure how you got only 10k subs, the production quality as well as value provided is really top notch. Thanks for these tips and all the best for future videos!
Awesome video, very informative! I've found getting ear muff covers for the headphones I'm using helps to prolong their life after they start getting worn out
Great tips. I noticed you were standing up during the interview. It's best practice to sit and be at eye level if the interviewee is sitting down to match your eyeline.
Thnx. Dipping my toes in video. Coming from foto. Definitely bookmarking this vid just in case I have an interview. Do have a multi cam setup. But some of the tips are still usefull to get even more production value
Really good video and I appreciate your thoughts on the FX30, which I am researching. However, this is tough for me to call this a way to film “multicam”. I was intrigued by the title and wanted to check it out. But not to split hairs…..I usually consider a multicam shoot a way to actually sync the cams. And there is no way to “sync” in post when doing interviews like this. I would say, just film in 4k and maybe have your iPhone as a super wide and away B Cam to cut away with. Maybe even make that B cam black and white or something. Again, nice video. 👍🏻
Great video dude! Very comprehensive for starters. Nice work. It's funny because when you've been doing this for a while you kind of forget all these tricks and things you do naturally without even thinking. Plus, Audio tips!! Without good audio, it doesn't matter how nice the image looks no one will watch it. (for interviews I mean. haha)🤘
I've been preparing for that type of job for my own content but this is great and as a side hustle. I'm a musician, so the audio part is always under control cause I have portable solutions.
Hands down the best video I’ve seen on this topic. So much great stuff. Your presentation style is amazing. I’ll definitely be incorporating a few of these on my next shoot. I’m primarily an editor but also developing a series and for now I’m the shooter. 😂😂 It’s not my strong suit or my favorite, but whatcha gonna do? Thanks for this awesome video!
Like a clumsy jeweller, you’re dropping gems.
Ahah we out here !

for viewers' sake - don't mirror, please )
Yes👍 but its works well only on close ups.

We love to hear it !!
I can't believe it! Someone actually covered audio in their video tutorial! With good tips as well! Well done, great video Kofi! I've sub'd!
Wait is that uncommon ?

Thanks 🙏🏾🙏🏾
I do not do interviews but I do own the FX30 and was curious, learned a couple of things though that I might be able to use.
That’s unreal that it helped 🙏🏾
I'm gonna have a 1 cam interview in 3 days and I'll definitly use your tips to make it dynamic ! This video is a blessing, thank you so much dude !

LOVE the "fake slider" technique!
Works like a charm 🙏🏾

This is your ‘breakthrough’ video brother - so helpful for beginners
Thank you !!
Nice, many of us just use a teleprompter for consistent answers for multiple retakes while moving the camera into different angles.
That’s also a good way to go!

Good stuff bro. I use most of the techniques but the moving the camera and re asking the question is gold!!

The videos do emulate the result do what you’d get from Multicam , which in essence is an interview with multiple angles, thanks 👍🏾
I don’t know why I haven’t been using key frames to simulate a slight slider effect 🤦🏻♂️. Thanks for the idea. Keep up the great work!
Happy to help!🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
It works best when you shoot in a higher resolution than the one you will be editing in your sequence. You have so much “space” for those pans.
Comes on clutch !
