Huge amount of respect for Ben. Whatever happens, I hope he carries on working with or on Star Trek product lines

I don't know any company that would be insane enough to take over the dumpster fire that was the Enterprise D build up. The kit was a complete disaster. Ill fitting parts, light leaks galore, an incredibly stupid and over engineered lighting system and the whole thing being powered by a stupid amount of batteries rather than having it powered by wall outlet. That thing should have never left the drawing board.

First of all, my sympathies to those who've lost their jobs and anyone that's got money or time invested in the product lines. Good to hear the product lines themselves should be profitable so a decent chance of things being picked up by someone else.
That being said there's a couple of things that do jump out from my recent experiences with these product lines over the last year or so. First the depth of the product line was verging on the silly. As much as I appreciate the commitment to building enough shuttle types to have 8 different collection boxes I can't imagine there's that much demand for them. Second distribution needs to be looked at. Relatively recently Eaglemoss products started to appear in the likes of HMV and a bit more of that might not be a bad idea to get increased awareness. Even if it's just the hero ships it gets awareness out there and, well, it worked for Funko Pops!

I agree! Especially when they started upsizing everything in the discovery ships. Can’t imagine many people would want to pay 40 quid for an obscure Klingon ship.

The whole appeal of the Starships collection was that you could get THE starship(s) you liked best from whatever TV series or movie you saw them in, rather than having to settle for something more mainstream. It wouldn't have been worth as much if it had been less complete.

Reading between the lines of both this interview and some other things I've seen suggest that there was some shenanigans taking place at the top. Apparently even the general worker and designers were given little to no notice that the financial situation was as bad as it truly was. If the employees were kept in the dark by management why would they tell the customer base?

While I feel bad for all the staff who lost jobs, I'm so pissed off that I'm stuck with 2/3 of a large Enterprise D model and a Blood and Chrome Galactica pre-order that I'll never see. Can't see a new company continuing the Enterprise from pack 78.

Eaglemoss started out fantastic but it was my experience that it started going downhill about 2-3 years ago and it looks like the issues got progressively worse. It feels like they expanded too quickly into too many different franchises, with their accompanying fees; they faced exploding production costs; and I found that their distribution, quality control, and consumer support at least in the US was increasingly poor. Indeed their customer service was hands down the worst I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. That was the final nail in the coffin in my willingness to participate in their subscription service. I started buying from 3rd parties just to avoid the hassle of interacting with Eaglemoss proper.

He seems like a nice guy but he’s being incredibly guarded and economical in what he shares. From what I understand subscribers to building the Enterprise D have faced delays for a while, are unhappy with light-bleeds and the huge amount of batteries needed to power the thing - badly designed and parts out of stock. A shame that isn’t discussed or explained.

The only comment I can make is that this seems to be the same problem as other collectors items, in that unless you know about something, you're always going to miss out on release on a collector's item someone might want but isn't aware of the product existing. I'm a casual fan of Star Trek but, I would really like a really cool Enterprise d model but, by the time I heard about Eagle moss, it was already too late the Enterprise d was super expensive and outside my price range. casuals miss out on the most popular pieces and the company misses out their dollars.

Here's hoping that eaglemoss does not go bankrupt, that it just gets rearranged and someone buys/picks it up so that the company, and possibly bring back many of the original workers if they can, and can stay around and keep up the excellent work. It's rare in this day and age to find someone/company/people that truly care about what they are making for others. I've only recently started collecting because I didn't have the money and was quite aggravated that I didn't get all the ships though I did get the one that mattered to me the most... the NX refit.
Side note... TC... give him the comments section of this video after a few days... i guarantee it will show the world still has a vested interest in keeping eaglemoss around LOL.

I get the feeling Eaglemoss were spread a little too thin, and had way too many lines outside of the Star Trek and sci-fi genres. Baking , crochet/embroidery, dc/marvel, doctor who, die cast car club, wooden titanic build-up etc.

That is rough for the people working there. I sincerely hope they can find a new job soon and hopefully in a new enterprise that takes over the license.
Their old shop wasn't that modern, running on some jarringly old Magento web shop that did not show accurate stock or promotions nor sending any notifications about the status of the orders. And the shipping boxes were made of thinnest cardboard in the market, combined with a less than stellar shipping partner.

I was pretty bummed about this because I own roughly 50 or so models (mostly Star Trek) from Eaglemoss and still had several in my wishlist/watchlist. I mean they just barely started releasing the StarGate line and I had been waiting forever on that one and am now kicking myself that I didn't buy what little had come out before they went under.
As many as I own though I assume I'm like most that the models weren't exactly top of mind and a huge priority. I honestly just got one or two here and there over the course of several years whenever I'd happen to remember it and had a few extra dollars to spend....which I have to assume was a core issue.
    Time will tell.

So sad to hear this. But at least they are trying to get someone to at least finish what has already been started, if not continue on. I really like these ships, and would love to have several of them, I just have not had the money to buy any as I have been in a bad financial situation for several years now.
And I am glad that at the beginning of the video they first talked about the employees! As fan we see this as a possible end to something we love, and treasure. But for many of the people that worked for Eaglemoss, this is the end to their livelihood. As someone that has been in and out of jobs since having a major health crisis in 2012, I know how that feels. It’s not a good feeling not knowing how you will buy food, pay the bills, or even be able to stay in your home. My heart goes out to all the workers that have been affected by this.
And finally I’d love to know what was the final star that broke the camel’s back so to say?? I wonder, this is just speculation, if it was financial over extension, or I wont say bad/poor, but maybe mis steps in managment? I was surprised when the guest said that CBS was completely blindsided, and not told there was a problem till very late in the process. That’s not good to keep one of what I am sure was Eaglemoss’ largest customers in the dark about the company possibly going under. That’s not a good business practice, and kind of what makes me wonder about the way things were being managed. Maybe they were afraid to tell anyone, thought people would loss faith, and abandon them? Business is tricky even at the best of times.
I just hope the workers find new jobs, those with unfinished models get them finished, and that at the least planes that were in the works come to completion. Beyond that, maybe we will get someone that either takes over Eaglemoss to raise it from the ashes, or to take over that mantle, and make new ships. Only time will tell.

I hope Mr Robinson and the rest of the Eaglemoss employees find fulfilling jobs and that they are successful in what ever they do. How ever i think he's holding on to his optimism a little to tightly. I don't know what the Eaglemoss services and customer support were like in the UK and EU. But here in the states saying how bad it was with out using profanity is nearly impossible. As for the supply chain issues and global recession i dont see them easing up any time in the next year or two. Honestly things look to just be getting worse. I can't see some company coming along and spending the kinda money it would take to restart the lines and renew the licenses when things look as shaky as they do globally.

I was not angry about them going into administration but i was so sad, i had been collecting them since i took out a subscription and collected all the 180 ships which took me 7 years to collect. looking back i think it was a good price for what we had compared to when they did the ships bigger and cost 3 to 4 times as much but understand prices go up and the detail would be better, but was to expensive for me as i had not got that amount of money. i did have all the specials that were sent out and i even collected the XL versions only when they were on offer normally 3 for 2 as well as the bonus ones to. i also collected the discovery ships but from eBay as some one sold 18 of them and i got a great price for them and collected the ones that i did not have got of Eaglemoss but still 6 short. collected the comic books to and found out that there would be 20 short which i was disappointed but again still great to have. unfortunately i would have like to have had the ship to build but i was worried that if the company got halfway though the run and sales dropped of like the comic books did, having half a ship would be useless and money wasted, so i decided not to go ahead with it and i am please for myself that i did not but sad for the ones that did, it is alright to miss a ship or even a comic but half a ship is no use to anyone. just wish i had the space to have all my eaglemoss ships on show as they do look awesome but still on a shelf in there boxes but when i have seen them displayed buy others they are awesome. over all i was very pleased with the star trek ships and my nephew was pleased with his doctor who collection, so i do hope things work out with someone picking it up.

I now regret not plunking down some money in years past whenever I got the itch to get a model... However I must say that I realized there was a problem at eagle moss when they advertised a coupon for ships, with 3 particular ships shown on the coupon, and the fine print forbade using the coupon on the ships shown on the coupon.... customer service was unhelpful and I felt tricked and let them know they just lost out on a sale. I have also wanted to buy the original TNG stargazer, but noticed their model was incorrect (saucer section too thin). Been waiting for them to fix it and they never had. That one ship left me wondering what else was inaccurate on the other models that I just hadn't noticed...

I assume the big models work out more profitable up-front to produce, but I do wonder how many like me switched from 'all of them, whatever' to 'just the ones I like', and the effect that had on subscriber numbers long-term.

I guess, I was truly lucky to get the FULL collection of the Battlestar Galactica replica models. All 25 replica/models plus variances (Colonial Vipers) also special editions.
I spent money true but in 4 months I had the FULL BSG collection. I like to share this per say with all of you because it’s important. I knew something was up, when I tried to purchase multiple replica models at one time from the United States Eaglemoss division. I was told by the customer service that it was impossible to do such. I reply Why?
We (Eaglemoss) just don’t do that and we are not going to start doing it. Each model or subscription parts comes out every month or so from our China manufacture and it would be unfair to other collectors, who wish to have certain models they want to add to their collections. We hope you can understand this reason and why we don’t encourage or offer such to our customers or collectors.
I was shocked and stunned by this statement because I thought the idea of a company was to make money willingly from someone, who was willing to give it to Eaglemoss for multiple orders. It totally baffled me to the point I got mad about it.
I decided right then in December of 2021 to get as many Battlestar Galactica replicas/models as fast as humanly possible in a attempt to have the whole collection including special models and one of a kind or unique models offered by Eaglemoss for this BSG line of collectibles.
I went to many websites and individual sellers, who was selling their models and I went to local and out of state Comic / Fantasy stores too.
I even found a few of my BSG replicas or models at Fan Expos and Comic Cons for sell by some vendors at these events.
Call it luck if you believe in such but I was able to do the impossible, which I was told it couldn’t be done straight from USA customer service of Eaglemoss.
Now, if I can do it so can many of you if you decide to do it. Don’t over pay anything that you are not custom to do.
I stay pretty much paying the fair market value on most BSG replicas or models just like you could order them online. Heck, some models were below market value that help me even further to completing the whole collection.
Yes, there was a handful of replicas that cost me some big bucks (variant vipers) but they came with certificates of limited run as promised by Eaglemoss also my wife, for my birthday (January 2022) got me the BSG books (as the ships of the fleet) only 2 of them but it was very sweet of her to do so.
All that said, Don’t give up hope on your replicas/models that you have or still building from those Subscriptions that Eaglemoss was selling to you.
I sense that either them or a new company will take over and complete what Eaglemoss had started. I totally agree with all of you in some sort or fashion but don’t let this even destroy your ambitions or goals. I was patient and willing in some cases to pay a little extra for my replica/models but as stated above I never went beyond my means or my wallet.

Something that should be considered is Star Trek Online ships. There are hundreds of ships that could be created. Given many of them are Federation; that ight help some companies see created/taking Eaglemoss's Die-cast line as profitable a most people love UFP ships.

I hate it for all the people who lost their job. Hopefully they can rebound easily. Also all the people who were doing the builds, really hope a buyer steps in. I only bought the die-cast ships. Of the models already out, I got almost every ship I wanted from Star Trek, the Orville, Battlestar Galactica, the Expanse and Stargate. The only ship I didn't get was the BC-304 Daedalus. My all time favorite ship in all of sci-fi. I'm damn near heartbroken. Let me stop. I am heartbroken 😫

Dont get me wrong, I do enjoy the larger models, I have several, but I think the entirety of the star trek line should have been made in the standard size, with xls being reserved for things that were actually larger, i.e. star bases, space stations, the Borg, the D'Deredex, and the Voth. I would also love to see a continuation of the online ships. As far as Stargate, I had been waiting years for them to acquire this license, and to only make it 3 ships in is painful, there are dozens that could be done. And a Destiny build similar to the Enterprise D would have been a dream come true. Best of luck keeping the collections alive, we support your efforts.

I ordered 4, only got 1 and it took almost 6 months even to get that. Even before Eaglemoss UK started facing disruptions, their warehouse in Melbourne was **REALLY** poorly run. If you ordered, say, 4 ships and three of them were in, the order wouldn't get sent until the fourth ship became available to ship. And if in that time, one of the other ship you'd ordered was suddenly not available, your order would be held until *that* other ship became available again. They used to be really efficient and prompt with their orders, sending what was available, etc, then overnight in 2018 or 2019 (can't exactly remember, it was a long time ago) they went from sending orders inside of a fortnight, to between 3-5 months, but only if you chased after your order.
And for the record, you weren't missing much with the Borg Voyager. It has a little bit of Borg texturing on the topside and nowhere else. No Borg spikes or the such anywhere else. It's like an old-school doughnut-- icing on top.

Eagle's first mistake was wanting to make Star Trek stuff when the Kelvin timeline came out. Then with the TV Discovery and Picard could they not see the writing on the wall?
The Enterprise D came to TV in 1984... and that's your biggest draw in 2022? It would be one thing if the show was gone, but when the newest content isn't selling product, that's not a model line you should be involved with.

New Star Trek like discovery and strange new worlds are widely disliked by the majority of trekkers. It’s chased a lot of folks away from the franchise. If Eaglemoss returns in some capacity, they should actually raise their prices a bit, and focus on the older series. These models routinely sell on eBay for many times the original price. Some larger ships would also do fairly well, maybe an extra extra large version.

  • @michaelspielman4801

The cost of the models the delays and lack of accuracy and detail is what turned me away from the series that simple. Lack of Romulan ships from th4 series and inaccurate information on those ships, Lack of detail as i stated before where i could see absolutely plain as day inaccuracy of the model itself nacelles never being straight broken models that where shipped, the complete delay of getting models to those that actually bought theme in their hands in the time that was sated.
Those where the top reasons why I didn't buy any and didn't want the fact you had to subscribe to a yearlong they send you whatever ships even ships you didn't want at all. If someone does pick up the company and get things going, I won't be doing business with you till what i stated above is actually fixed addressed and corrected that simple.
