You are supposed to take it off with vinegar, 409, or windex in between applications... don't keep applying it without taking it off the floor in between cleanings
Looks like it did save ur floor from all that dirt soaking in. It's satisfying to see it scraped off
Right, it's not a miracle cure, it has to be removed if you're going to use it. You may be able to get away with putting down a few coats in between stripping but it still has to be done.
Believe us, we know.
We were told to strip a 24x24 ft room with 9 inch tile in it. It had a major buildup of finish having not been stripped for many many years. It was just coat after coat of more finish . Using chemical stripper and razor blades like the ones here but on a long handle, about six of us applied the stripper waited for it to turn to a thick gelatin. Then we began scraping it with these razor scrapers on the floor and slapping it into a 5-gallon bucket. We had to do this BEFORE we could even put a pad on it with a buffer.
We had to mechanically remove it except it didn't look what like what you have there. It looked like gray ectoplasm. It was nasty like Snot.
Topped off a 5 gallon bucket and came 4 inches from the brim on the second one. Could you imagine, going into a room that's only 24 foot square, and losing 10 gallons of finish on that floor?
Yet that's what we pulled up.
The light brown floor was actually a light tan, with TWO color in the tile, and there were other tile around the room randomly mixed in, they had muted colors. When it was stripped they were vibrant orange yellow and green.
Definitely fun stuff! The worst I’ve ever done was about 1,000 sf of brick floors that had 60 years of wax applied every Saturday lol. Took a month of stripping, razor blading, detailing with wire brushes, black pads, grit brushes, and pressure steaming.
These kinds of jobs can test your mental and physical capacity but are some of the most gratifying in the end.
OMG same problem on my floors bc I used Holloway House Quick Shine for years! That stuff is is awful.
I have about 1400 SQ of that gummy, flaky mess, I was hoping you had some tips on how to get this stuff off!!
When the pandemic hit and everyone at my job got laid off and we switched to take out only (restaurant), I had to do this. It was SUPER fun.
It’s acrylic clear coat! What did you think it was when you applied it???? You are supposed to strip it off between applications. This is what happens when you just keep applying it over and over.
Dean R English we didn’t apply it. The homeowner used mop & glo every Friday for 6 or 7 years, we were hired to remove it.
Ahhhh, that makes sense.
Ehat about mop& shine products...something i have but didnt use yet
Well... I wasn't the one that put all that crap on there. I was the one that REMOVED it.
Some people are just idiots when it comes to floors, and when they are, they hire me to fix their mess.
Jeez it looks like they did it once a month or something, really should only do it when you start to notice it dulling and not to it again for like a year or more.
People simply fail to realize this stuff has to be stripped and reapplied. It's not a cleaner. It's a wax for no wax floors. It's an amazing product. It can be easily stripped with lysol and ammonia. It should really be used only quarterly or even every six months. It can be buffed back to a nice shine. This is a user error not a product fault.
What is a good floor stripper? I have the same problem.
I don’t know about Mop and Shine but, I’ve used mop n glo since I was 5. Never fought build up like that.
Looks like he may have taken the laquer off te wood😬?
Ive just used mop & glo on my wood cabinets that were really grundgy and they now look brand new!
@@MultiLisa10 You don't use lacquer on floors, ass. That is plasti wax crap that stuff like Bono uses. Mop n glow doesn't use that. Hence why your floors still look dull after using mop n glow. It's just a cleaner. The bono or refinish floor polish does this. And these guys in the video are being dramatic. Bono sells a remover or you can make your own. You pour it on, let it sit a few minutes and mop off with cleaner. You have to do it a few times but it works. These guys are fucking up because they brought out the floor scrubber and it heats up the polish and gums it. Use a shit ton of the remover and bust out the scraper for the edges. Learned alot about floor stripping/polishing while in the Navy. Trust me, bro. But yes...floor polish is a pain in the ass to remove but looks great when first applied if you can manage to get all the dust and dirt off the floor. Which is impossible in a home. Just live with a scratched and dull hardwood floor and save money to refinish it or pay to have it refinished. Takes like three days to have it done right due to the dry time between coats.
Love mop and glo... Good stuff
Mop and shins sucks never use it I have the same problem
Is this mop n glo? Or a different brand I’m unaware of?
Oh gosh I don’t remember. But definitely something like that, could have been mop n glo, mop & shine, orange glow, or rejuvenate etc
What did you use to remove it? Looks like the previous owners used it and I want to take it off. How do I strip it off? And does it need to be resealed afterwards
Ammonia and water can remove many of these acrylic polymer floor finishes
@@fredsayshello This. And you don't need to "reseal" (you mean refinish) after. But most likely is someone use the polish to hide scratches. So, count on needing a refinish job to get rid of the scratches.
Use polish. That is wax build up. Its not uncommon to have to strip floors.
This is what happens when your wife gets too lazy to strip a floor. Just keep piling on more and more wax.
Theirs nothing wrong with this product at all by any means...
This will always happen if you neglect basic care.
What made these people think that this was their life saver for the rest of their lives.
Yeah, just keep building up more and more wax. Now when you have to break all that down to get a fresh start you want to complain that the product sucks.
Its probably the best thing that popped up for shinning your floors.
Add and add wax on top of wax and y'all ignorant people think all your laziness and neglect wasn't gonna hurt anything... IT'S YOU NOT THE PRODUCT. People now a days have to have their hand held and be spoon fed. Common sense bewilders them..
Definitely the wife's fault
No argument here.
What do you use to strip it with
you are suppose to use the solution
I think that's too much shine
That's what they make floor stripper for lol
This. Don't use a scrubber on polish.
Oh my gosh, it looks like those chemicals for cleaning floors. It does not work well😳😳😳😱😱
