    PRICING AS OF APRIL 2016....www.dropbox.com/s/9it2omnl5q1...
    WEIGHT CAPACITY:
NoGround adjustable poles have passed a 24 hour static 287# hammock load, and multiple nights with a 140# hammocker. In both situations the pole felt very solid. Because of variations in ground quality and geometric set-up there is NO guarantee of weight capacity. Use the system at weights greater that 220# with caution. As with all hammock related activities - Hang or use at your own risk.
    Ground anchor suggestions:
Variabilities with soils and ground conditions make this the most problematic task. Not all methods will work in all places. There may be situations where none of the suggestions work. As with anything hammocky, test first, then hang at your own risk.
In almost all situations you will need two ground anchors per pole for stability.
Natural objects: Anything that is firmly in place and you can attach a rope to can be your anchor. Small boulders, trees too far away or too small for a traditional use, cracks in rocks, logs, etc. can make excellent anchors.
    Guylines:
Use only guylines that are capable of fully supporting your hammock. I use 7/64 amsteel. Each guyline should be a minimum of 7-1/2 feet long (this ensures a 45 degree or less angle with the ground). Longer is better. The shallower the guyline-to-ground angle is, the less force the stakes have to hold and the better holding power they have. Spread the guyline anchor points about 5 feet apart or between 60 to 30 degrees apart. The farther apart the anchors are the more laterally stable the system will be.
    Other notes:
If the ground is soft, or if you need a little extra pole height, put a stable object under the foot of the NoGround pole. This can keep the tip from sinking in, or can increase the effective height without sacrificing pole strength.
    Truss line adjustments:
Each truss line has a small whoopie loop at the end for adjustments to each truss line. Adjustments are made without tension on the line. The small line stops to keep the truss end caps in position will slide (with force) if they need repositioning.

My back yard solid is very hard and I have not yet bothered with redundancy in the stakes...actually getting those spikes out is hard at times lol - I'll link to my video once I make it this week - I bought two poles

I do this same trick lashing my two hiking poles together in an (handles up) inverted V shape. In addition to the guy out, I use some cordage to keep the downward portion of the poles from spreading. It forms a nifty triangle that is very sturdy IF you use poles of the lesser-flexing variety. NOTE: You do have to hang closer to the ground due to the hiking poles being shorter, even if you use longer poles such as the Leki Sherpa 145cm adjustable. It works in a pinch but is not viable substitute for a tree due to the fiddling and cursing involved. The system shown here seem a better method to use on a regular basis. Thanks Shug!

I look at this curious pole/multi cordage/multi anchor contraption with a wary eye especially where my "rigging" skills are called into play. After my zip line occurrence that technically "could have" happened to anyone I was grounded by my relatives. Now I have to content myself with new ways of hammocking. My latest rendition looks like Moe, Shemp & Larry might have collaborated without forming a consensus but it is extremely comfortable & functional. Due to its rigging complexity multiple drip lines are employed; Shug, thanks for the excellent video on drip lines, it helped a lot. The video you made about using Reflectix was a pearl of wisdom. I have cobbled together full cover "cozies", top & bottom, for my 400ml, 500ml, & 750ml stainless steel mugs w/lids. Since the occurrence my bilateral hand strength has diminished somewhat so I have to use "resilient" metal utensils that don't dent readily. I also use a sheet of Reflectix 2 feet wide X 7-1/2 feet long sandwiched between my 2 Brazilian woven cotton hammocks to keep my derrier comfortable. I also use an excellent 3rd party(Live Infinitely) 11 foot X 5 foot bug net since one hammock is 12 feet long; A thing of beauty this is not, but very functional. Due to the hammock's wingspread I turned my 10 x 12 camo tarp on the diagonal to yield a hypotenuse of 15.6 feet. I know you like to use Dyneema(Spectra) line for its "no stretch" in your rigging but I find the small caliber challenging for my fingers to hold & manipulate (I'm an older geezer) so I got some good quality reflective 550 paracord for non structural support like main hammock ridgeline & tarp full ridgeline. For main/2ndary hammock support multi-loop webbing straps with 12kn caribiners are utilized. Btw, I'm in the running for the Rube Goldberg multi-functional design award. I have fabricated my ridgeline storage pockets from Valdalia onion mesh bags & heavy duty helicopter rotor balancing tape, this feature alone "caught the eye" of & impressed the Goldberg committee. Do you have a website or an email address where I might send a picture or 2 of my "magnificent hammocking" collaboration? I'm often laughed or snickered at but I figure dem folks are jest envious.

Its all very interesting. I'm currently bidding on ebay for my first hammock that I''m hoping to use inside my van, after trying a hammock at a tourist spot, (the best 10 minute nap I've had in years),Its interesting that you think your heavy. After diet and exercise I've dropped down to 107kg, I've done so, to enable me to learn to kayak and try things like hammocks while camping. Thank you for showing alternatives to normal attaching points, this is something I've been thinking about for a while.

hey Shug, been toying with something like that myself, but more crude, anywho, you talk about needing 12ft of distance, so, quick measure, if the pole is 6ft tall, lay it out twice on the ground and you'll be close to your 12ft. kinda what I came up with my set up. oh, and keep the vids coming!! long live sector seven!!

  • @DixieLiving

Its not that I don't appreciate technology but..... I do miss the simplicity of the days when you had 2 choices of fly line - sinking or floating or when you bought shotgun shells the hardware store guy only asked guage and shot size. Maybe I'll stick with 2 straps and my hammock and if there is only one tree, well, hammocks can be ground cloths. Thanks though Shug! Oh, heard a story the other day and immediately thought of you. If you are ever attacked by a group of clowns - go for the juggler! :D (it was new to me) BRING ON THE HICKERY BROTHERS!

You can learn...just injure your shoulders or strain your lower back. Also remember that once you are all comfy with a sideways lie in your long and wide hammock, you can sply this way and that, as well as use a modified side sleep position. I suggest you get a basic 11 foot hammock from Dutchware, Simply light or other cottage manufacturer and give it a try!

wouldn't it be better on the pole to have it angled into the hammock that way reducing flex stress on the pole and directing most of the stress axially down the pole where it is strongest, it would also take some of the tension out of the guyline meaning you would not need such heavy/big pegs. I know this isn't your design Shug, but I am hoping the makers see the comment. Just an idea. I'm thinking one pole almost in-line with the hammock then two guyline shooting out behind away from the hammock at about 90° for stability.

    • @shugemery
