- Ryan Blaney was just over a lap away from his first win of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series campaign. And then he wasn't. The reigning Cup champion expressed complete shock and anger over his team radio during that last-lap communication as he watched his Penske teammate cruise to victory.
Stewart-Haas Racing fans got bad news last week about the four-car team shutting down in 2025. When talking about the situation during the NHRA telecast, the announcers just rubbed salt into the wounds.
Kyle Busch suffered his first DNF of 2024 when Kyle Larson slid into the side of him and pushed the No. 8 car hard into the outside wall at the end of Stage 2. Here's the two-time champion's radio right when it happened.
Plus: Fox has one more week of covering the Cup Series and they're going out in style.

Shout out to Truex for helping Bell out on the straightaways after he was down cylinders. Doubt you’ll ever see Hamlin or Ty being a good teammate like that.
Gene Hass & Tony Stewart hold an estimated $100 million in franchise fee value alone, maybe more. Not to mention the race shops and equipment. The cost to run a First Class NHRA Top Fuel Dragster for a season is estimated at $4 million. The cost to run a Top Class NASCAR Team is $25-30 Million plus $25 Million for a franchise charter. Tony has figured out how to race at a top level for 80% less, no franchise fee, and far fewer headaches. Makes perfect sense to me.
Plus Haas f1 has been a known money pit for gene putting well over 100m a year up until the mazaspin Schumacher season😂I'm sure he doesn't care for nascar racing anymore and just wants his money to considering he never shows up to races even tho he lives In the us

Stalls at gateway are 5 ft longer.
I don't watch any of the races live anymore. I DVR the race and this way I never miss a race and I normally tune in halfway thru so I have no commericals.
The race really doesn't begin until stage 3 anyway.
If there were no stages the entire race matters, but yellows every stage kills the racing.
Haven't watched a live sporting event in 5 years. Between endless commercials and too much bullshitting, I watch them later in the day after recording them. Definitely the way to go.
Btw, your description says Larson slid into Busch. Wrong. Busch intentionally contained Larson to the bottom, taking away his aero and causing Larson to get loose and slide up. It was Kryle Busch's fault. He even said so himself.

I'm ready for Fox to be gone so they won't be forcing us NHRA fans to watch a split broadcast, which quite honestly blows the NASCAR broadcast out of the water.
I think it's gone for the year. NASCAR is going back to TNT this month!
My wife was upset when she calls him WATERMELON MAN won and beat everyone but they showed the champion who actually came in 2nd she didn't get to see him bust the WATERMELON !! She was glad our son was there and sent her a text of him smashing the watermelon. She wished s h e could have seen it for herself. She misses a lot because of commercials.

Fox coverage.....you forgot to mention the worst part of the broadcast. When they decide to cut away with 15 laps remaining to do a race recap. It would be okay to do a race recap if they did a side by side view. But nope, they do a full screen race recap. Who cares about the racing that is happening LIVE (that we are now missing). Let's cut away and show what happened 2 hours ago. After they cut back to the live action there's only 10-12 laps remaining. Who in their right mind thinks it's a good idea to cut away from the ending of the race, to show highlights. The race isnt even over yet. Show the highlights AFTER the race, maybe? Very frustrating.
There are so many things to choose from, unfortunately.

So what will make you all happy?? Stop the race while in commercial? Be glad racing is even on tv. And stop crying about the coverage. Look at old racing from 30 40 years ago, 4 cameras and a few shaky incar cameras.
I know right, everyone is so fixated to get on the hate wagon for fox. I’m lucky to find a stream live that I can watch while at work.
For them to not make so many mistakes in a broadcast. Watch another sport and tell me where they will put up completely wrong graphics. It happens regularly on Fox. I think the fans deserve better.

Agreed. Tony said a couple years ago that he was looking for something to do the he enjoyed. Obviously, that wasn't NASCAR. Personally I'm surprised he didn't quit NASCAR before this. I think he was tired of all the nit picking BS. Smoke's NHRA teams are doing great, especially his funny car team. Smoke isn't doing badly with the Top Fuel Dragster for a rookie either.

so when this network ends the coverage we actually lose the endless bullshxx from clint and kevin, back years ago when there was radio coverage at the same time with jarrett announcing i could mute the tv coverage and actually listen to a real announcer. this crap with kevin and clint sounds like a barr room drunken duo trying to out lie each other with their constant stories that have nothing to do with the race.
Tony is only “invested” in the NHRA because of his wife! How many times did Tony mention he wanted to own a NHRA team before he got with his now wife? Before he met her, how many times did he ever mention drag racing in interviews or anything? NHRA was not on his radar like it is now before he met her! That’s not the right way to go about it! He will come to regret all this!
The guy said in a Dale Jr. download interview that he loved being in nascar, just didn’t like some of the things nascar did! Tony is the one that talked about this new kit car costing teams more than the last gen car!

As bad as fox is I think nbc is way worse. Nascar should just go fully independent and stream the races on the app. They do have in-car live cameras and they need to bring back the blimp. The radio on the nascar app has way to many commercials though. Just like network tv. Why not just do banner ads so the interruptions are kept at a minimum? My favorite tv personality is by far clint bower. He is so underrated and he very entertaining and knows his stuff. Also nice to have kevin harvick there. Less commercials and better camera timing so the racing fits what the guys are talking about is what is needed. Nothing wrong with so much you all complain about. Im just happy to have a sport as good as auto racing on tv. I cant watch any other sport. Auto racing is in my blood. My grandpa used to fill me up on licorice and old fashioned hard candy and soda and we would cheer for bobby allison and mark martin. I was six years old. Nascar should make you feel. If it dont then turn off your tv and go do something else. But please lighten up. Nobody is perfect and we are so very lucky to have what we have. I just want to be a fan and the politics are dumb and and undermine the good moments. Im here for the elation and fanship and admiration of my favorite drivers. I cant even afford cable anymore. I have been watching the racing when I can and I would watch every race as if I was religious. Fox is not that bad. We all sometimes become jaded. Maybe make yourselves miss some racing to remind you of what your missing. If its not good enough it will never be.

Yea I remember as a kid seeing highlights of NASCAR races on Saturday on ABC Wide World of Sports weeks after they were run! People are too spoiled Now!
TS is done in circle track racing, while he led most of the Cleetus McFarland show/Race at Indy he was spun out on the last lap by a beginner/ mechanic. This is why he switched to Drag racing, nobody ages out in drag racing when your only skill is to beat the Tree. In all fairness women can and do compete on an equal basis.
Most exciting moment in Nascar was the Coyote. Looks like Tony Stewart gave the middle finger to Nascar - He didn't even put it up for sale - just closed it lol

Tony looks happier than ever with his new hobby and wife.
As for Tony, Kevin even talked about how Gene and Tony had been nothing but awesome to him but were pretty hands off leaving the company in the hands of hired executives. Tony and Gene gave them an opportunity, and they apparently failed at seizing a once in a lifetime chance to continue a legacy. I put that on them but partially on Tony and Gene who should've made some personnel or structure changes before it was too late - I put that on them. Like any business that does good then not, it is a cumulative effect of many small failures that ate away the foundation that was keeping it strong.
I'm not sure his heart was ever in Nascar. That was a job with a parent company he never cared for. I'm surprised it lasted this long. I think if Kevin wasn't driving for him, he would have been out 5 years ago. The track copied the fire bombs from Eagle Raceway (home track of Rick Allen). Eagle does that stuff every week. FWIW: If you put an ad where we are wanting to hear what is next, no one will ever watch the ad. If you put them during a low time in the video, more people will watch the ad. Just trying to help your ad revenue.

You missed the part during the race when Mike Joy suddenly burst out that Ty Gibbs almost ran over one of his crew. They never showed the incident. I saw it this morning on UA-cam.
It was a total jumpscare. And they actually did show it on the broadcast albeit a few minutes later per usual.

Gene brought Tony on as a partner for the sol purposes of running the team. Once Tony started focusing on drag racing and Leah, it was over. I feel sorry for all those people who now don't have a job. Tony should be ashamed of himself.
No, it's called a business. SHR won't be the first team to fold. NASCAR is a dying sport. Tony /Gene see the writing on the wall. Yes, it's very sad for SHR employees , I agree. However, it's a business just like any other place of employment closing its doors. Hopefully, they'll find gainful employment elsewhere.

Good job on the weekend review! The only good thing left at Fox in Kevin Harvick. The Fox production must have gotten rid of most of the support staff because it sucks. The commercials are now at 37% and their Director in the truck must be catching more naps than Biden because he sure isn’t catching the action on track. We will see if NBC is any better but probably not especially with them not hanging on to Junior

NBC is just as bad, if not worse. The old SPEED Channel or further back in history TNN coverages were actually quite good. Only 4 commercial breaks an hour and if they a lull in the action, they'd double up and go commercial free for 30 to 40 min. Best part, no commercials under 25 laps to go. No Green, White Checkered, no BS cautions to bunch em up, good coverage.
In my opinion Penski ordered the 2 to win. He knows Blaney can win to get in the playoffs any given week. Centric not so much. This practically guarantees him all his cars make the playoffs, like Hendricks. No one even mentioned he was low on fuel. That's hard to believe In NASCAR. to "suddenly" come up empty is a little sus to me. Sounds like he was told to pullover.

NASCAR went woke. Now they're going broke. Races are scattered across networks and awarded to the highest bidder making it nearly impossible to follow the sport. Stock cars on road courses are boring. Not racing in the rain is boring. Calling a memorial day weekend race early because it's getting late is infuriating. Rumors of NASCAR manufactured driver drama is disturbing. I've loved nascar racing my entire adult life. Networks hide any action from viewers until they deem it "safe" for the public to see. Too woke for me. I'll enjoy real racing instead.
